I got confused and thought I was in the NSV thread. Everyone's having great success! Wonderful on the medium pants, LCG!! I don't think I'm a med. bottom yet.

Welcome! I think it would be good to talk with your doctor about whether you can start a dieting program. Do you have to take your meds with food? Most of the people doing this program who also take regular meds don't have any problem.

!

I would guess that if you're on a lot of meds, you may want to have your doctor monitor you while you do any sort of dieting at all. Your body chemistry can change so much during and after weight loss that your dosages may change, or you may not even need some of them. It would be worth keeping an eye on that.

Regarding your age, there's no such thing as too old! My mom started JUDDD at 79 in March, turned 80 in August, and has now lost 25 pounds and is right where she wants to be. She's now playing with maintenance, trying to figure out how she wants to increase her calories a bit - higher DDs or less of them. What a problem to have!

No, never too old and I don't think you medication should make a difference . Jump in the water is fine!

Hello and Welcome

LCG Carol has it right, Carly too.

I'm 80 and I started the program and have only lost a couple lbs.
but feel much better. I too am on lot's of medications.
I tend to keep the carbs in check because of diabetes.

Working on myself on this program. Not in a hurry and not gaining.
There is much freedom in planning and preparing for your DD's.
Today mine was very easy. I had about 500 give or take 25 or so.
Tomorrow is a medium day.

Here's my menu:

Egg Beaters Southwest scramble with J. Dean turkey bacon crumbles.
2 mugs coffee with creamer.

Main meal:
Liver and onions fried in a little ghee with 1/2 baked potato,
2 tsp. ghee (clarified butter)
Spinach
1/3 c. baby tomatoes
Sugar free chocolate pudding made with LC milk (Hood Dairy)

Tea with creamer

Sunday is UPP day. Monday is DD. and so it goes
Hope this helps you.

Corn field maze postponed. Littlest is not feeling well, and since it is meant to be a family activity, we will do it another time. We're going to play board/card games instead.

I adore liver and onions, very British, is it popular in the States too or did you get a taste for it when you lived here Barbo?

Liver and onions are popular in the southern US. I'm not sure about the rest of the nation, but I'd bet not. I don't care for liver either, although I've tried to like it.

Ummmm... she might, but I'm not gonna bring it up. I think I might enjoy it as much as I like tomatoes...

ETA: I just asked her... Nope she is not a fan!

Liver and onions can be found on menus here in California. I've had it a couple of times, but I'm not a big fan. I do find I crave it once in awhile, usually around TOM, so it's probably an iron issue for me.

Liver & onions remind me of my childhood when my folks used to make it for dinner. Well, until the last time they made it and I TOLD them I wasn't feeling well, to begin with. LOL

My grandmother use to make fabulous chopper liver. It was so good. I don't know if I would eat anyone else's chopped liver. I will see my grandmother on Tuesday when we arrive in Florida

Her chopped liver making days are over, but it will still be great to see her.

I haven't had beef liver in decades, but I know I love chicken livers. They're so good fried up and used in place of meatballs over spaghetti.

Liver and Onions oh my!

My mom was born in the south. Calhoun County Mississippi.
She made me eat liver and onions (blech) but fried good thick slab
bacon to go with it, which helped me get it down. Decades later I
joined W.Watchers and we were required to eat one liver meal per week.
However, I had to fry it to eat it which wasn't WW.

Chicken livers were taught to me by my Auntie Sadie from Chicago.
This is my father's side of the family. Before we had food processors,
we had wooden bowls and hand choppers. Anyone remember?
She made the best tasting chopped chicken liver and I do too when
I make them. She used real chicken fat rendered out and saved.
That bottle of golden goodness was treasured.

I was at the farmers market and stupidly purchased 2 cans of cod livers in their own oil and they weren't cheap. I opened one to try and literally gagged! My goodness it was awful. Offered a piece to the cat who wouldn't eat it. I then tried to mix it to make a pate with other ingredients and still gagged and threw it out. I'm not sure what to do with the remaining tin apart from maybe using the oil for salad.

She's not even 11 months old yet and topping the scales over 110 pounds. She was easily the largest dog at the Bully Boo walk we went to this morning. I have no idea how much MORE she's going to grow!

My grandmother did the rendered chicken fat and put it in the center of matzo balls every Passover yum, yum, yum! I may try to get the directions for rendering the chicken fat while I'm down in Florida starting tomorrow. Yay! Yay! Yay! Long walks on the beach. I can't wait!
