Down Day Friday
This may sound weird, but what I am mostly doing today, is cooking for tomorrow. :D I will be gone at an event all day on Saturday, and I want to be prepared with lots of yummy food so I am not tempted to buy lots of junk.
To be made: onion custard in bacon 'crusts', mushroom quiche, hot wings, low-carb crepes, flourless valentino brownie cake.
Plus, I have a pot of chicken broth going in the crock-pot, so I'll be smelling delicious food all day.
But for eating, my plans are tea, kombucha, a protein shake, and maybe a green smoothie.
I plan to make a big pot of chili to take up north for tomorrow night's dinner. We'll be busy all day tomorrow, so having it done ahead of time will be perfect.
But for today...
Coffee & water
Celery & Laughing Cow
Leftovers of some sort, and maybe a salad for dinner
More coffee, more water
OH you all are COOKING on a DD!?!?!?! I bow to you both!
Here is what I have:
Deli ham 50c
2 eggs/cottage cheese 180c
protein shake 180c
if I can get by without the shake, I will but we were in a hurry this a.m. and didn't grab much. I have a business meeting that is 2 hours away! I will be with my boss. Not sure what Dinner plans are. I will do my best to stay low. Thinking I will have more of a 800c or so day....plus I am starving already! Hoping a little water will tame the BEAST!
Soren, hope you are feeling better today!
Well, so here's the thing-- went to the Dr yesterday, and confirmed that I *just* have gastro, no weird infection or anything... and that I was dehydrated.
Which I should've realized, b/c drinking anything was not on my mind, and I was mostly eating salty rice crackers, etc... and my finger tips were wrinkly. Like, almost from a bath, but without the bath.
Anyway, I'm making an effort to drink more... And we canceled the visit by DH"s parents, scheduled for TODAY through the weekend.
I can't say I'm not happy about that. I haven't had a weekend to myself, without renovation, or something, since like June. Seriously.
And DH had a huge work issue last weekend that has lasted all week, so he's exhausted.
So, we're just going to take it easy this weekend.
Ok-- that said-- I'm *not* having to cook on a DD :) But I do find it oddly easy when I do have to prepare a bunch of stuff.
For today: continuing BRAT plus soup...
B: mio sport (it has sodium and potassium... tastes just like G2 low-sugar Gatorade, but fewer calories and I'm sure cheaper per serving...)
S: danActive drinkable yogurt (for probiotic) at 40 cal for a tiny bottle
L: light campbells soup 160
D: probably rice, and roasted/seasoned seaweed. I tried this last night and I didn't feel sick, and it makes me feel like I'm "eating" something more substantial... learned it from a Korean friend :)
you wrap a little of the rice in the seasoned seaweed piece, and it's just, yummier. Normally, they'd add some seasoning paste etc, but obviously, I'm not doing that. Just a little soy sauce in the rice.
about 400 cal for the rice
banana (100) or apple sauce (80) at some point maybe
omg, that's more commentary on rice than I've ever done in my life
maybe 500-700 calories today?
Hope you feel better soon.
I'm off today. Medical appointments and errands. Just left the gym.
L: Yogurt and grapes
D: Most likely cereal
I hope to end the day with 350 calories.
Have a great day everyone!
B-coffee - 60
D-Pork loin, summer squash & onions - 176
more coffee - 60
coconut bar - 120
My girls and Honey love snacking on nori. Makes for some aggravation when I pull out the package to make sushi and there's not enough, but I can't complain too much, because, hey, they are snacking on SEAWEED! You can't get much healthier.
I have the dried seaweed snacks, is that what you use to make sushi?
The snacks are usually flavored with different seasonings and cut into small pieces. The Nori used for sushi usually comes in sheets (about the size of a piece of paper, give or take) and don't have additional flavorings. Other than that, it's the same thing.
I bought the snack size ones, but I couldn't finish one bag. :( The smell started to really disgust me lol. Even on a DD!
My friend says that she takes the sheets and doctors them up herself, and then cuts them into pieces to use for Korean food night (or buys them, but at the Korean grocer). I'm pretty sure the Japanese ones are like a 98% match for this purpose (scooping and eating rice)... I'm craving the miso-like paste that is the condiment I was introduced to, but a) I don't have the energy to drive to the Asian food mart and b) I really don't think I should be eating that right now
so, I'll stick with the snack packs and just be happy :)
