IF - do any of you do 1 meal per day only?

Hi everyone

I understand how the up day and down day thing works, but I've been reading about some people skipping breakfast (and some skipping lunch too) and just eating 1 bigger meal per day, and having success with that.

Have any of you tried that? And what was your experience?

Thanks, I've not quite found my way of eating yet and would really appreciate any feedback to help me make a good choice.

Yes! At lot of us do one meal a day on DDs, Change. If you feel like you need something before dinner (which seems to be the best time for most of us, for one meal), have something under or at around 100 calories (or break it up into little meals), then 300 for dinner (300 cal Subway sandwich!), 100 for later. I don't know if you're still doing 500 DDs...

I'm doing between 300-500 cals, and I don't ever go a lot lower. I'm losing uber slowly, but it's mainly because I eat so much on UDs.

I have only one "meal" or snack on DD at 9:330pm. UD I have lunch about 30% of the time, but usually just have a nice dinner and a bedtime snack. So, yes- most of the time I just have one meal a day, but I do drink coffee with SF creamer during the day.

I eat 3 meals per day, on UDs and DDs. I used to eat twice on DDs and 3 times on UDs, but now I'm maintaining and have higher DDs to work with.

I have completely fasted a couple of times and had just one meal a couple of times, but I find that doesn't work for me as a pattern. I just like to eat too much!

I often almost completely fast on DDs, but if I DO eat, it's one small meal that day. For UDs, though, I have at least 2 meals + snacks. Lately I've been hungrier UD mornings & actually <gasp> eat breakfast. That's REALLY abnormal for me. (not a breaky person, never have been)

Whatever works for you is the right way to do it!!!!

I eat one meal most DDs. Not always, but that's the beauty and flexibility of JUDDD. Usually on DDs I drink iced tea and/Crystal Light all morning, then mid-afternoon I'll have a large mug of coffee with 2T of heavy whipping cream (100 cals). Then for dinner I can have a small/medium sized portion of something to round out my calories.

It works great for me, because eating anything solid (even a yogurt) makes me want to keep eating. Just drinking liquids allows the hunger to either disappear, or be very manageable.

Good luck!

My JUDDD journey has evolved to eating one meal on DDs - or rather eating my 350 calories between 4 and 7 pm. Mostly all in one sitting, but sometimes I leave about 50 calories till 7pm, as that is my personal cut-off point for night time eating. I've used a firm cut off point most of my adult life as I use to eat too much while watching tv at night, and wanted to break the habit. When I first began JUDDD May 1, I didn't feel as energetic without three meals on a DD, but now I'm fine skipping breakfast and lunch.

I typically do one meal and one (small) snack on down days. On up days I usually have brunch, dinner and a small snack. When I say snack; it is usually something like 3 cheese cubes, 10 cashew halves, or 1/2TB of peanut butter using a leveled off measuring spoon. Sometimes a hard boiled egg (70 calories) or 53 calories of the thin sliced bacon I buy. Always low carb, but higher in protein and/or fat.

I do very low carb down days and usually only eat carbs with dinner on high days. I have insulin issues, PCOS and hypothyroid which is why I monitor my carbs. I almost never eat carbs alone, especially not sugar carbs which need to be linked to protein for me.

I started out (six weeks ago) eating three meals on each day. I am now eating two meals on my down day and three meals on my up day. I am thinking about trying to transition to only a little snack in mid-afternoon and then the rest for dinner on my down days.

Currently, I am eating 500 calories on my down day and 1810 on my up day.
