Friday the 13th

Okay, so I'm not really superstitious and never have bad luck on Friday the 13th . . . until today!

DH has been working 20 hours per day lately. My car's in the shop (found out we're looking at $2K in repairs!), so I'm driving my scooter, so he has to take Keira to school. Thankfully, her new school doesn't start until 9:00, so DH got to sleep in a little bit this morning.

So, long story short, I went to get my scooter this morning, and noticed our back yard is flooded. The dogs are wading through several inches of water. I rush into the garage and see the water heater shooting water out, the garage (which we use for storage) is completely flooded. I turned off the valve that was shooting water, blocked the valve so the dogs couldn't get to it, opened the garage door to let the water out faster, and had to leave it like that or be late to work. (I did NOT wake DH up; he's under enough pressure right now without cutting in to what little sleep he's getting!)

DH just called and said there are canine teeth marks on the valve on the hot water heater. Our DOGS decided they wanted to play in the water! I get to look on the bright side and acknowledge that at least it's not something requiring a repair--just some puppy training.

Anyone else having a good Friday the 13th?!

Adding: I'm askeered to go through everything tomorrow. A whole section of cardboard boxes with things from my grandmother's house are in the area where the worst flooding was. We won't be home until late tonight, so I can't get to it until tomorrow. I sure hope nothing irreplaceable has been damaged!

Oh bad doggies!!!

Thankfully it's not a whole water heater needing replacing. I hear that can be ugly!

Oh boy, that is crazy! I am glad you don't need a new water heater. And I sure hope nothing valuable has been damaged. That's always the scariest part. There are some good businesses who can restore water damaged items if it comes to that. Good luck!

Thanks everyone. As far as bad things to happen, this could have been much worse. I'm starting to laugh about it now, though that might change once I find out what the damage is.

The worst part? The dogs were just let out not too long before it happened, and they have a kiddie pool to play in, and misters all around the patio! They were NOT lacking opportunities to play in, around, or with water! They just got greedy!

It seems everyone else is doing well today?

Wow your dogs love water that much??? I had a dog that HATED water. If it was raining out and you went to let him out, he just looked at you like "nope, I am not going out there". But the breed typically hates water.

I'm doing okay - my allergies are forever bothering me (I guess it's time I suck it up and get the shots ) and I thought maybe going LC would help - NO it didn't. Soooo i'm going to give the rotations another shot. I miss carbs LOL

Bad poochies, bad, bad! It's always something with canines!!!

Jenna & I had a rough morning and got to school late as a result. Other than that, things are a-ok today. Took DH out to lunch & ruined my DD (whoops!), but it was fun! I'm not looking forward to 2 nights of freezing cold 7pm football games, though. I hate freezing!!!

I'm glad you and Jenna made it safely, even though it was a rough morning. And really, one yummy lunch on a DD isn't going to hurt you at this point.

94* here right now. Though I'm freezing in my office, I know I'll be sweltering on the scooter ride home though.

I blame Friday the 13th for my high DD too, Flutter!

Dawn, I'm glad it wasn't more serious with the water heater. I am getting a visual of your dogs turning the valve and playing in the water shooting out. I have one of those Renai hot water systems that is tankless.

Oooh, I want the tankless water heater! Those sound great! I worry about mine bursting in the garage. I came home late one night to water pouring down the driveway of the house next door, which was vacant. I managed to find someone online, on Craig's List of all things, who was trying to rent it out, got ahold of him immediately, and someone came over within about 10 minutes. Lucky for them. That water bill could have been horrendous!

Bad puppies! I hope nothing got ruined by the indoor doggie pool.

I didn't realize it was Friday the 13th until about 1pm, but no bad luck for me.

I'm green with envy that it's 94*! I realized I will need a jacket from this point on especially in the evening. It was 68* around 6pm and getting dark .
