Hi all!

Question - how the heck do you exercise on a DD? Or did you not initially? Yesterday I had a pretty hard DD (although it was my first official DD since starting back ) and the way I felt towards the end of the day, there would have been NO way I could make it to the gym. I even went to bed early because I couldn't stand feeling like that Does it get easier? I'm sure my ongoing fatigue issues aren't helping, and probably making something that's hard much worse.

Katie, once the JUDDD magic kicks in you might find that you have more energy on DDs. When I first started I asked the same exact question. I was miserable on my DDs and there was no way I was going to the gym when all I wanted to do was head off to bed so I could just eat food the next day. Then three weeks in something clicked and now I can't even workout on my UDs. There's something about giving calories back on a day when I can actually hoard them that just doesn't sit well with me.

Give it time, stick with JUDDD and you'll find exactly what works for you.

Katy, I can basically echo Lisa's statement. Now I have so much energy on DDs and like to exercise much more on DDs than UDs. However, I did not feel that way at the beginning. It took some time, but it definitely happened. Hang in there.

Katie I see you teach Combat. Now that I wouldn't recommend unless you workout in the morning of your DD.

I used to teach Jazzercize 20 odd years ago and I know how much more it takes if you are instructing.

To be honest, a morning workout is the best on a DD because you are full of all the great nutritious food you eat on your UD. Evenings work for some, I know that's what Carly does, but it may be harder then.

I should say I occasionally sub. I mostly just stand up front with the main instructor and do the moves. Hardly ever do I instruct though! Still need my endurance!

I do evenings, but I have no option. My exercising is not very rigorous at this stage in my life. I was an aerobics instructor in the 90's I taught 5 nights a week and ran 7 days a week. I'm not sure that I could do that in a fasted state, but boy oh boy, I was tiny, 95 pounds and all muscle!

This photo sits on my computer's desktop to motivate me to exercise!

And mine never will again, but it's good motivation to exercise when I want to be lazy. I'm so frustrated that I have time to exercise tonight, but my foot is killing me.

No answer on DD exercise from moi, I'm still a lazy knucklehead.

Being lazy and quoting my general intro-post into this thread too.

50 of the 100lbs I'm hoping to lose have been gone as of July; which I'm absolutely psyched about! However, I no longer feel so full of energy and I'm finding that some of my aches and pains are creeping back.

I do track my food, so I know that theoretically all should be well, but I'm just not in love with the way I've been eating and it's time for a change. So...today has been my first day on plan and my first DD and it's been great! Mild hunger now and then, but nothing a glass of water and a distraction hasn't cured. Looking forward to the journey and continuing to read through all of the info you have all posted here!
Day 2 today (UD) and all is well!

Hi everyone,

I am still hanging in there, and quite happy with this way of eating so far. As of today, the end of the 4th week, I am down 8.4 lbs. I can feel from the way that my clothes fit that I've lost inches, too, although I haven't taken any measurements. I am sleeping much better now (have "outgrown" the insomnia I initially experienced on down days) and have a good amount of energy...enough that I felt able to do a 3-mile power walk today AND go another mile with the dog, and today is a down day.

I'm so glad that I've been able to eat "normally" when I've had meals out with friends, and I have had a LOT of them in the last month. It seems like it's almost too good to be true, but I will definitely take it! I'm not finding this plan difficult to stick to at all.

Just thought I'd update since you all were so nice when I had my initial questions!

Hi all. Today is my first dd had ud yesterday mostly because yesterday was Sunday and I need next Saturday to be an ud (footy grand final) so flexible already!!! I think I'm going to be ok with the dd's because of Atkins I don't eat much anyway. It's the ud's that are going to get me. I currently have 1800-1900 cals a day 70% fats if I have my usual day, up my carbs a bit and a little more fat hopefully I can get to the 2300 the calculator says need. On my dd's I'm going to try to not have my meals until after 12pm and nothing after 7pm I'm working so at least I won't be home all day dreaming about food!! Wish me luck

The DDs just get easier and easier. I wait till the very end of the day to eat on DDs. I don't get hungry till I start to eat.

Yesterday was my 2nd DD and it was so much easier than I thought it would be. Had coffee only until dinner at 5ish. Nice salad with ham and some mozz chesse sprinkled on top and ZERO hunger overnight Trying to not get too excited about the huge loss I'm seeing in just 3 days...I know the first week on any new plan makes me drop like crazy and just hoping I'll see a nice steady trend develop over the next few weeks. Happy with this WOE so far!

I generally do okay with DD's. I ignore any hunger I have when waking up, just have black coffee, and the feeling of hunger goes away quickly. I am generally good then until late afternoon. I have certain foods I eat on DD's so there is no problem.

Major problem with UD's. I seem to either eat too much or find myself not eating enough. I haven't found that "sweet spot" yet. I know if I would plan my menu each day that would solve the problem. But that would just be too easy.

I really wish that were true for me. I wake up hungry on my DD and fight hunger all day until I can't take it any more and then I eat something. I think the latest I have gotten was around 2 pm before I broke down and ate.

KUTGW! The losses will probably slow down a touch, but it's such an enjoyable way to lose weight that it really doesn't matter.

Major problem with UD's. I seem to either eat too much or find myself not eating enough. I haven't found that "sweet spot" yet. I know if I would plan my menu each day that would solve the problem. But that would just be too easy.
Plan. It's so simple. Don't sabotage your good work on DDs by not planning your UDs.

I think it took a few months for me to settle into that pattern of fasting till 9:30pm. I use to munch celery all throughout the day early on.

Awesome! So happy to hear you're enjoying it so far & doing well, too!

You will figure it out, but I agree with carly: just plan it out and see how much easier it makes it for you! You might never go back again.

That's not good. Does it help to start out with a small breakfast?
