Quick Help - PH DD Question

:help: I know there is a wonderful thread dedicated to the PH, however, I am in a pinch as just decided to try my first PH DD today, spur of the moment.

My plan is to only do a 1-day PH today as it is a DD for me and I'm looking for something new to try.

My question is how many potatoes can I have or how many calories should I aim for?

Unfortunately, the answers are varied. Some do their DD calories, some eat to satisfaction, and others shoot for around 600 calories.

I only did it once, and ate to my DD calories.

I've only done it twice, and I just ate however many I felt like it - didn't really restrict. But honestly, w/o butter, sour cream, cheese, etc., you really can't eat as many as you think you can.

when I do it, I weigh and measure my potatoes. I wait until later in the day to eat. I eat 300 cals worth at around 2 and another 300 at 6. Works great. Don't use any (or very very little) fat.

I'm doing a PH DD today too. I'm doing 600 cals (my normal DD is 350). I've read that you can get away with higher calories if you're just doing potatoes but I have no idea if it will actually work for me. Do what feels right for you and you can adjust next time if you need to. Good luck!

Thanks for the replies :hugs: I just got back from the store where I picked up some Yukon Gold and Russet. I'll try eating to satiety but will stop at 600 if it seems I'm going to go overboard. My plan is to have zero fat today, just salt and pepper to taste - we'll see how it goes :)

Amy, is this your first PH DD too?

I tried it one other time and hated it. LOL! I'm kind of hating it today too. 600 cals of potatoes doesn't seem like much to me. It's physically satisfying (I guess?) but it's not mentally satisfying for me. If I see a miracle on the scale tomorrow it will be worth it, but if not, I doubt I'll be trying this again. I miss my normal DD foods.

I'm also hoping for a miracle on the scale tomorrow. :aprayer: My weight has been slowly creeping up by about 3-4 pounds over the summer and my 155 calorie DD's are no longer producing the losses that they used to. Hopefully switching things up is all that is needed to get me back into my comfy range.

When I do Potato DD's I don't go over 600 calories. I find the cold boiled Yukon Golds to be the best for me on those days. If I try to eat hot or warm potatoes I can't stop.

I don't like it either. I have one potato left and I can't have my usual DD food tonight now.:( Unless it's a miracle loss, like 10 lbs by tomorrow:rofl:, I probably won't do it again. I've got one smallish potato left and I'm hungry. I do better on LESS food, so what was the point again?!!

LOL! I know! The potatoes I brought to work for the whole day were gone by 11am. Now I'm powering through on zero calorie liquids. It's a good thing I left my dinner potatoes at home or I probably would have eaten them by now too! :hyst:

Librarygirl 08-30-2013 03:07 PM

I'm having HWC w/coffee now. Probably not going to eat any more potatoes today. I saved my last one to bring home so I wouldn't feel like I was starving all night, but guess what? I'm going to eat something different. :D
