A Tale of the Bouncing Ball - and the all important JUDDD staple - patience!

So, 2 weeks ago - Kissa posted about my 25lb loss in 6 weeks. It happened - the scale said so!

So, anyway-on to our friend the bouncing ball. I don't really like sharing this - but I think it is important for everyone to read the good and the bad!

After my enjoyable UD (after the morning of my great weigh in!) there was a massive bounce - it was expected - I went up around 9lbs!!! But I was okay - it would drop after a good DD -maybe not to the low - but into the low 240s.

NO!!!!!!! I gained! - I had a great DD and I gained

No problems... I would work my rotations and it would all work out!

Did it, heck!

There were many nights I lay there cursing my weight for not dropping to that lovely low - not even dropping into the low 240s but sticking around 247/248. Sometimes showing no loss and even a small gain after DDs!

10 days after my low - I finally got back to 246 (1 Aug) -and that made me ecstatic!

2 weeks after (today) I'm finally back in the low(ish) 240s at 242.8 - still 3.5 lbs off my lowest weight - but I felt happy enough to post.

Whilst I was going through all the anguish of not losing, not weighing that wonderful number - accepting praise for having lost 25lbs - when in fact I was hovering around 15lbs only (oh the guilt!) - anyway - yes - I did notice other things - ie my clothes fit better - I felt better -I (strangely) started to look slimmer.

Anyway - so I'm not back at that lovely number - but I worked the rotations and I stuck with it and the horrid numbers are going.

Bounces will happen - sometimes they'll bounce really high (up a few steps) and stay there and then slowly start to bounce back down!

In the words of my wonderful Mother!
Relax, rotate, reduce, rejoice.
It will happen!

Thanks for sharing Vicky, This is exactly why I got so frustrated and just gave in last time. I have decided to not let the scale rule my life this time around for my own sanity and to keep me mentally stable
Good for you sticking with it, and reaping the rewards. Having your momma rooting for ya is pretty awesome too. You are kicking JUDDs behind!!

Vicky, that scale is the devil. I weighed in at 235 on July 4th then bounced my way back to 243 and circled around there for the entire month. Like you I was noticing changes and not fully understanding what the problem was. Sometimes that just seems to be the nature of JUDDD.

I am so proud of you for sticking with it and ecstatic that Kissa is not only your mother, but such a great role model and supporter for you.

I know it's hard when the scale is being evil, but I'm so glad you are sticking it out. You will be lower than that low number before you know it.

Vicky thanks for sharing with us. We need to hear the lows with the highs so we know it can happen to us. That will give me strength if it happens to me to hang on. Thank you so much for posting this.

For me, the JUDDD "calm" is simply this realization that you've so eloquently written. It WILL come back down. The plan works when you work it, even if it's not linear, and sometimes downright crazy. Eventually it comes back down and then drops even further.

I know my clothes fit different and I feel different but when that bounce happens you want to heade for the breadbox Thank you for the remind

Exactly what Dawn said. It absolutely will come back down...and then take a whole bunch of it's nasty little meanie friends with it! Do not trust the scale, it's evil! Don't let it ruin your day EVER!

I hit a new low yesterday. I'm up 4# today. I think it's funny, really. (yes, I actually laughed out loud when I hopped on the scale today) It doesn't matter. In the long run, and you know this and are living it Miss Vicky, you will get to goal weight despite all those crazy bounces and daily scale readings. YOU WILL WIN! XOXO You are doing amazing!!!! Keep it up!!!!

Thanks for me, also. I was just thinking today, I will never get back to my last low...what will it be 10 days? Two weeks? Ever??? And, that voice again. Give up. It doesn't work. Eat. You are hungry!

But, I won't give up. You are all an inspiration. And I need to keep hearing it!

This is a great reminder! I have felt the same frustration but those low numbers do come with patience.

Good for you for fighting through it! YES!

Thank you, Vicky. What a great reminder for us all. I sometimes forget that my body is changing for the better, even during the times when the scale doesn't show any "progress". I need to keep reminding myself of that very thing.

Vicky, thank you for the timely reminder! Patience is a virtue I have to practice in other parts of my life also, but especially when it comes to weight loss. You are doing fantastic,

Great to hear this...I had a bounce today of 5 pounds after a DD...but I know it's more about self-esteem for me rather than the scale. If I know I am doing what I need to be doing on the JUDDD I feel good and the rest will eventually fall into place as you so wonderfully have shared.

Thanks xxx

Yes the scale is a fickle beast.. I too have restarted my WLM and even though ive been thru this before, i still expected a steady linear result.. To funny when the scale has no clue whats expected of it eah?..I am glad to hear that you stuck with it, and your on the brighter side of it now.. It will happen... and you ARE doing it.. You have an awesome start on your journey already , so proud to see your not giving up on you!! WTG!!

Vicky I could kiss and hug you.

I've had a miserable down in the mouth day on an UP day....
All because the scale put me back to my beginning weight.
Thank you so very much. I'm just gonna keep on going and see
where JUDDD and BUDDDS take me.

Barbo - I know the feeling - and this exactly why I posted this. We focus so much on successes and we all need reminding the path is not always linear! I bounced up again (deservedly) after birthday treats yesterday.
