Have fun Kim! My son was out there for the long weekend and came home with quite the burn. Hope you get better weather than we've been having here at home!

Oh, and how exciting to be so close to goal!

Hello everyone, I'm excited to attempt eod. I just got my 20% numbers from the Juddd calculator....2156 and 431. I understand the lower number, is the max # too many calories, do you make adjustments to that amount of calories on ud, thanks!

I am new to this, but the way I understand it, you can eat what you want on your UD, but if you find you are not losing, you may want to limit what you are eating on your UD to that higher number.

My two numbers (using the 25% number) are 1543 and 386. What I chose to do was to go ahead and stick with the 1543 right from the beginning, because I am afraid I will really overeat on my UD.

Of course, my very first UD, I ate 1765! Today is the next UD for me, and I am sticking to the 1543 for sure, even though I have lost 3 pounds in the first 3 days of JUDDD, even though I over ate a little bit. Maybe I shouldn't be so worried!

I stuck to my UD numbers religiously in WLM, and nearly always came in way below my DD numbers and lost very well. I always tried to eat right up to my UD numbers though, to try to keep the metabolism stoked. When I reduced much below that, I'd stall, and would start losing again when I went back to that number. I only had to lower my UD numbers about every 30 pounds or so.

We're each different, so you'll have to see how it goes for you, but I'd start out with those numbers and see how they work for several weeks.

Thank you so much Dawn, I remember you discussing this when we were all experimenting with 5:2 but I had forgotten what to do.

Thanks, Carly!

I lost inches again this morning after my UD yesterday. So far, in the four days since I started, I have:

Lost 1/2" around my bust
Lost 5/8" around my waist
Lost 7/8" around my belly
Lost 1/8" around my hips
Lost 1/8" around my calf
Lost 2.1 pounds of body fat
Lost 0.3 pounds of lean mass
Reduced body fat from 35.4% to 34.5% (down 0.9)

Today is a DD, so I'm a little hungry. I am finding that the longer I go without eating on a DD, the better I do for the rest of the day. I get home from work around 2 pm, and I will see if I can hold off eating until around 4 pm or so.

I have a question for the more experienced JUDDDers:

Right now, my DDs are 386 calories and my UDs are 1544 calories.

Here is my problem - 1544 calories is still not a lot of food. I really don't get to eat to satiety on my UDs. Does anyone go over their higher number and still have success? I would like to eat a little bit more, but I don't want to sabotage the good results I am getting doing it by the numbers.

Also, I noticed that as you "climb the ladder" toward maintenance, you always eat the same amount on the UDs, but eat increasingly more on the DDs until you reach 60% of your UDs.

Has anyone ever tried keeping the DDs low and slowly increasing the UDs? I would not mind eating only 386 calories on my DDs if I knew that I got to eat more than 1544 on my UDs.

Any thoughts?

I answered this in your thread. It's worth experimenting, but I'd wait till maintenance if you are losing well now.

Hi! I am still hanging in there. I am still up in weight, but I have had a lot of company and a three-day weekend away. Adding back carbs has a lot to do with it, too.
Last DD, I did wonderfully. I had some protein (egg) after spin class. Then lunch & dinner was shiraki noodles w butter, broth, spices and grated parm cheese.
Tomorrow, I will repeat.
Q: when counting the calories of coconut oil, do you measure the tablespoon melted or in solid state?
Thanks!

Hello! Looking forward to getting to know you all and very excited to get down to JUDDDing.

I recently did a short hCG round to drop some summer pounds to fit into my work pants before school starts (I'm a teacher) and now that I'm at a happier weight and pant size JUDDD looks to be a doable, wonderful way to maintain my weight and maybe lose just a little more.

I don't use coconut oil, but hopefully someone can answer.

I'm not sure there is any difference. If you want to be absolutely sure, weigh a tablespoon of solid and a tablespoon of liquid on a gram scale.

One tablespoon should weigh 14 grams.

I never really thought about it. I measure it in whatever state it's in. Here in central CA, it's usually melted except in the deepest of winter.

Use the middle button on the lower right ("+). Just click it in each quote that you want to capture and then hit post reply at the bottom when ready to write your post. HTH.

And the Post Reply button is all the way on the left at the bottom of the post. And you select the comments you want to post in reverse order of the way you want them to look on your reply, I see.

Thanks! That's been driving me crazy!

Thanks for the warm welcome ladies!

Rebecca, I want to try JUDDD for a number of reasons:

1. I follow Laurie's (theredhead) journal on an hCG BB and find her story inspiring & love that she has used JUDDD to maintain for well over a year

2. I am not convinced that hCG is the key (for me anyway) for maintenance. It helps me lose, but my weight always creeps back up over time & I have to do a round every year or so to get back down.

3. If I can do the VLCD for weeks at a time, which I have done multiple times, then I can stick to a low calorie plan for alternating days, a few times per week.

I tried hCG once. I lost weight but it came back immediately and then some even though I ate the way they told me to after the round was over.

I always wondered how the weight could possibly stay off once you stopped eating the VLCD. I also wondered why you need the HCG. If I ate 500 calories every day for 40 days I would lose a ton of weight, but it would return the minute I went back to normal eating.

There are people who believe that the hCG does nothing and all it is is calorie restriction.

The hCG is supposed to release some of your fat stores so that you are burning that up while on the VLCD which is how you can get by on 500 calories a day. I was a big believer, but this last round...I just don't know.

And you can't just go back to your old WOE. I used it as a spring board into a high fat WOE that works well for me, but my weight still creeps up over time.

When I did it, I did not just go back to my old WOE. I ate exactly the way the website that sold the hCG told me to. I gained back all the weight. As you can see by my weight chart, the three-week hCG round is right at the beginning, and then it all came back by two months after stopping hCG:

I know people have a lot of success losing quickly, but it does seem unlikely that it would stay off. I don't know anything about hCG, but I wonder if people would lose just as well following the protocol without the hCG. It just seems that one's body is not getting very good nourishment during some of the long rounds I hear about. I would think that 40 days of 500 calories might slow the metabolism down. But I'll be the first to admit that I know nothing about it or the science behind it.
