Thanks for your guidance . Let's see how this goes!!

WELCOME to the newbies.

Just a thought concerning the bounce. I average my weight at the end of each week - add them up and divide by 7. I can see the downward trend very easily when comparing the averages week to week. I know others make fancy charts to do the same thing, but I'm a math girl. So far on my 3 month journey with JUDDD, I've shown a loss each week except for one. YMMV of course, but it's encouraging to me to compare week to week rather than day to day.

Yes. I knew better than to get on the scale after an UD . I will use Friday morning as my weigh-in date and will go from there. Thanks.

I'm starting today. I tried this very briefly a year ago. Can't remember why I stopped. Maybe because I kept going out of control on the up days? Maybe to work another round of hcg.

Anyway, I'm glad to be back. Low carb makes me feel healthier than any other woe but it doesn't work for weight loss for me anymore. HCG gives great losses that I can never maintain. JUDDD is so reasonable - I think it will be more sustainable.

Funny! I just figured it was another thing I needed to learn. It took me many months before I had the courage to ask someone what YMMV meant!

back Allison! Once you get past the initial adjustment period, it most definitely is a more sustainable WOE. I can't imagine anything else anymore!

vivers and allison and everyone just discovering this great WOE! Please do not be discouraged by the bounce ... it's different, and requires a little faith in the program, but as Carol mentioned it's totally normal on JUDDD and the bounce will trend downward. Goner I like your way of averaging the week! I might have to try that. Does it matter that some weeks will have four up days and the next week three?

This is the most livable plan I've ever found!

Cindy (Kissa) - I your new avi! You look so youthful and healthy and pretty!!

Okay all... Bounce panic subsided. Thanks for the encouragement. I know there's a daily weigh-in thread, but I just wanted to show y'all why I'm okay with the bounce. Here's the new numbers:

Aug 4: 165 ud
Aug 5: 163.8 dd
Aug 6: 163 ud
Aug 7: 164.4 dd
Aug 8: 163.8 ud
Aug 9: 162.2 dd

Maybe I'll only weigh myself after up days after all - or maybe just every week.

The bounce is just a part of JUDDD, but if it bothers you don't weigh every day. It may seem easier to weigh daily when you can trust JUDDD, which of course is hard in the beginning, as with anything new and unfamiliar.

Peachy (welcome fellow SC person), EOD (every other day) is considered the fasting period, even though some of us eat up to 35% on Down Days (DDs). So, after your sleep at the end of a UD until you wake up on the *next* UD and break your fast, that is the "window" of time. It varies, depending on how soon you eat on your UD, and it doesn't seem to make a lot of difference. Hope that helps!

ETA: That sounds very confusing lol. It's not *after* your sleep, but after your last meal or snack at the end of a UD the fasting begins and continues through the next day (Down Day), because Dr. Johnson considered it a fasting day even if you eat up to a certain percentage (20% is considered optimum), and until you break your fast on the following UD.

Cindy answered you and she's absolutely correct. The "fast" is considered your down day and whatever calories you consume on your DD are so low that you're still effectively "fasting." The basic time frame would be around 36 hours, give or take, depending on your own personal eating style.

Ex: If I eat dinner at 7:00 p.m. on my UD, then have 500 calories on my DD, then eat breakfast at 7:00 a.m. on my next UD, that's 36 hours in between because there is one full day and two full nights between. Clear as mud?

Feedback

I just wanted to get your thoughts on this pattern I'm trying. I've been following this WOE for 5 weeks and was eating DD on MWF rather than a true EOD pattern. I found that on Fridays, I was getting really lightheaded and was ravenous, otherwise the other DDs were easy.

Starting this week, I'm trying a different pattern:
DD
UD
DD
UD
UD
DD
UD
DD
UD
UD
DD

So, after two DDs (separated by am UD), I'll have two UD in a row. Any thoughts on this? Do you think this will disrupt the SIRT1's work?

I am also finding on the DD that the more I delay taking the first bite of the day, the better off I am. Right now I'm having a small snack around 2 pm and then a light but decent dinner around 6 pm.

Some people do it like that Highlander, and it works fine. You just have to try it and see for yourself. I sometimes do 2 UDs in a row on some weeks for various reasons and it does slow things a bit, but if it's a plan you can live with that's the most important thing.

Now that I am officially in, I have a question:

Here are my numbers:

So, on my down days I am only supposed to eat 311 calories?

I lose best with EOD, but whatever makes the plan work for you is what you should do.

Yes. Mine are 312, but I often eat less. For the first 2 weeks of DDs you can go up to 500 if needed.
