Will get mine probably next week. DH asked for size and color so a good bet. Hoping that the motivation fairy comes in the same package! I love gadgets so hoping this gets me back in the groove!

Nobody in Paddle Club has heard of a reliably waterproof monitor. Either I accept that I can't include kayaking in my monitored activities and remove the monitor or the search continues until I find one that can tolerate being splashed/dunked.

The Fitbit One says it's splash proof. I have read that some have taken a trip through the washing machine and survived, but I've heard others say that theirs didn't survive the washing machine. Is the fitbit Flex designed to get wet? I thought one of the fitbits were OK for swimming, but I don't know.

I got my FitBit Flex today - still figuring it out.

Wrist size - they send both a small and large bracelet, so you get to find the size that's best. How do each of you wear it? Snug on the wrist, or floppy? Do you think it makes a difference?

Arm swing - ran a comparison with my regular pedometer - the FitBit was low - guess holding the dog leash is not going to work.

Water proof - I've lost a couple of pedometers by going in the surf unexpectedly - was under the impression the FitBit could take it - need to check!

I'm interested in the sleep function - will try it tonight ...

Wish it counted carbs rather than calories ... Oh, we'll, I watch calories on DDs.

I have to tap mine 5 times to get a buzz - is that normal?

Anyway, I'm hoping it works out! My husband's is back-ordered, but we should soon each have one ...

I'm still considering a monitor. Does anyone have any updates on theirs and the insights it's given them, please?

(I'm having to accept that nobody does a kayaking-proof monitor )

I got my fitbit one last year. I love that thing. I wear it everyday. I try to get at least 60000 steps a week. I wear it clipped to my bra. I lost it the first week I had it when it was clipped to my pocket. I was so upset. I called fitbit and told them they needed to warn people about how easily it can fall off a pocket and they sent me a new one!! I don't think I would like one around my wrist. I can't even wear bracelets as it gets in my way at work.

I got the Jawbone UP for Christmas. I'm so excited, but DH got me the wrong size, so I'll have to wait until I can get to the store to exchange it before I can give any real feedback.

I just looked to see if a store where I received a gift card from sold either the JB or the FB, and they sell both. The JB Up is quite a bit more though. One was 629.00!!!! I think I'd rather have something else for that amount LOL. Thinking about the Fitbit though.

I'm thinking that was a misprint. They run around $129.00. I know the Fitbits are less, depending on the model.

So far I'm liking my UP, and could use some UP friends!

I wore my UP in the shower this morning. I'm not sure if it's totally submersible, but it's designed to wear 24 hours per day, including showering.

I kayak and swim - as far as I can tell, none of the monitors will guarantee themselves even for something like SUP, far less actual immersion (pressure changes as well as wet dunking). I might just choose one as a general movement/sleep assessment although it seems rather a shame that none of the other features will be useful/available.

How accurate do owners find the sleep assessment to be?

This is killing me. I want the Up24 very badly, but no Android app yet- only Apple. I have an iPad, but it is too old. They say the Android app is coming in "early" 2014. That could be next week, or March. I really want the wireless syncing.

How wasteful would it be to buy the Up now and get the Up24 when the app comes out?

I've worn mine to bed now two nights. It only registers me as "awake" if I sit up. When I toss and turn, it registers me as "light sleep." I know I wake up 10-15 times per night (always have, and I look at the clock each time), and it has registered me as waking up 3 times one night and 2 times the other. It's still useful, IMO, but not entirely accurate.

If it makes any difference to you, the regular UP takes literally seconds to sync with my Android by plugging it in. Wireless syncing would be nice, but it's pretty convenient even without.

At this particular store, the UPs are all over 200.00, and the Fitbits are around 100-120something.

My Fitbit once spent 15 minutes in the washing machine- it was fine.
I think the fitbit one is very accurate about the sleep. I have learned so much about my sleepwalking patterns. I plan to show the last 6 months of data to my doctor the next time I go.

I think the Fitbit One is $99 for the most part. I found my Aria scale for slightly less than the advertised $129 on Amazon.

I loved that my One syncs automatically to my IPhone and my laptop. It does not sync wirelessly to my IPad, but that app is also helpful. The Aria syncs wirelessly as well.

I wore my fitbit a few times sleeping but it never really saw the reason. I know I sleep bad already. Haha. I love how the fitbit syncs with my iPad and galaxy phone and keeps me updated thru out the day. It tells me when I am getting close to goal to make me want to do more. It also syncs to my online tracker and adds my steps in and let's me know that I have extra calories that I can eat. I am also linked up to a site called "every move I make" and when I get a certain amount of activity in I can choose a prize. My points go to the make a wish foundation. Every time I reach goal 5$ gets donated. I have reached goal several times now. It is so fun.

I went out today and bought an Up. I had to go to three Targets to find the right size in not-electric-blue.

I didn't get it in time for many steps today, but I ma heading out for a long walk in the morning.

This is going to be fun!

I have a One and I am generally still happy with it. However it seems to count about double the amount of stairs than I actually do in a day. I've been trying to solve the issue, but so far no go. I now divide the amount that FitBit tells me I've done by two to get near the actual amount. Not ideal really.

For the rest, it's a great little motivating gadget!

I have been having a ball with my Up.

I am on vacation so I have been taking a long walk every day, but then not doing a whole lot besides that. The Up showed me that a 4 mile walk doesn't turn out to be much more than just walking through the day and getting 10,000 steps in. So I set it to buzz me if I sit too long and I walk in a big circle a couple of times around my house.

I set it to share with a running app I use and the food tracking site I use and it all integrates.

I started using a smaller coffee cup so I have to get up more to get coffee.

I give it two thumbs up.

You were absolutely right. It isn't a big deal to sync it at all.

I am almost glad it doesn't sync wirelessly. I often take one more spin around the house or parking lot or wherever I am to get more steps in before I sync it.

I got the fitbit flex from DW for Christmas and I love it. Its been a week and still on the original charge, although I suspect I will need to charge it sometime today.

It came with two bands, a small and a large one. I don't feel like I have a huge wrist, I know many guys with bigger wrists than me, and I'm almost at the largest setting of the larger band - good news it it will only shrink from here :-). If you have really big wrists, that may be a problem.

I love mine so far. The syncing to my android phone is super easy. As far as accuracy for the steps, i'm not so sure its dead on to the step, but I'm really not looking for that level of accuracy. As long as I'm in the ballpark of my step goal each day, that's good enough for me. The great thing is that wearing it I forget it's there. I'd say this was one of my favorite gifts this year!!!
