Yikes, bad weekend!

I had last Friday off, so Thursday night I decided to have a few bevvies since it was an UD. So, that made Friday a down day. I quickly learned that nursing a mild hangover on a DD is NO FUN! :hyst: However, I behaved Friday even when I went to see a movie with my BF. Saturday was an UD, and started off with a platelet donation. That meant I had a good breakfast and a snack after donation which only brought me to about 10:30 am. Then there was GNO that night and everything just went to he%* in a hand basket. We met for Mexican then had drinks most of the night which I hadn't planned. I didn't get home till 3am at which point I finished off my Mexican leftovers and went to bad. Needless to say I was way over even for an UD. Sunday I woke up with a headache from hades, but didn't feel too bad other than that. I remembered that after I donated platelets, the phlebotomist said not to skip any meals for a few days, so I threw in the towel yesterday and just had another UD. I didn't dare get on the scale this morning. Hopefully I can fix my two back to back UD's within a couple rotations. What doesn't help is that my DS12 is at his grandparents this whole week, so my routine is way off. Oh well... today I get back on track! Coffee will be my best friend today! :D

Flossyliz 07-15-2013 04:52 AM

Sounds like a good plan, piglet.
I find it's better just to have an extra UD to suit your body or social circumstances than it is to stress about balancing things out - as long as you don't do it too often!
Just going back to rotations as soon as is practical and possible has always worked for me.
I hope your hangover is short-lived. :console:

piglet513 07-15-2013 04:58 AM

Luckily the hangover is gonzo today. This weekend just reminded me of why I don't drink much anymore and why I'll not drink much while trying to lose weight. Even if it's calorie free alcohol (roughly), the blowback with the eating that goes with it or the eating that comes the next day is not worth it at all!

SlowSure 07-15-2013 05:06 AM

Well, as Flossyliz says, you learn something useful from it and just move on, back to your rotations.

A number of people report that it's not the alcohol that's the problem - it's that it makes eating more some like an awfully good idea at the time. :o

Be well. :)

zipp2play 07-15-2013 05:10 AM

It's in the past, keep it there. Sounds like a FUN weekend, we all deserve those now and then!

piglet513 07-15-2013 05:16 AM

It really was fun. :D It just highlights why I can't do that stuff every weekend anymore. That's how I ended up in this condition in the first place. That's why I didn't weigh in this morning. I didn't want to beat myself up to much for one rough weekend. Moving on! :)

Librarygirl 07-15-2013 06:34 AM

Over the course of your weight loss, you will have these things happen. Nearly all of us have had to compensate for the occasional overblown UD, or multiple UDs.:o The main thing to keep in mind is that weight loss is a journey, and one that takes time. All you have to do is stay committed, and no slip will ever derail you in the long run.:hugs:

Sirtain 07-15-2013 07:00 AM

And the beauty of JUDDD is that blowing it one Down Day isn't blowing your whole 'diet'. It just means an extra Up Day. Somehow, I find that much easier to 'come back from' mentally.

LoCarbGal 07-15-2013 07:20 AM

It sounds like you have a good attitude about this Piglet. And really, we all need to let our hair down and have some fun sometimes, even during weight loss. I'm glad you had a fun time!

Boy is that my problem in a nutshell! As well as, if I am hungover, I can pretty much forget exercising and eating seems like the only thing that helps!

Sounds like you survived and are back on track.

Have a good one!

windygap 07-15-2013 08:12 AM

Your ok piglet! Its all over and now you are back in rotation. You will be fine. You are doing great just keep going.

Flutter 07-15-2013 08:42 AM

Well, personally, I think it sounds like a fabulous weekend! Good for you!!! Those are the kinds of things I love about this plan. You can have fun living your life and just get back to rotations afterwards. No. Big. Thing! Isn't that great??? Bravo!!!! Carry on, piglet, carry on!

piglet513 07-15-2013 08:45 AM

Actually it is really great! It was one reason I knew I couldn't personally stick with Atkins long term. Because there's such a greater impact on your progress if you have one bad day or weekend. It can take a week to get back on track. I love JUDDD!

Piglet, I think you are my lost twin....

They should print this on the bottles, like the cigarette health warnings!

Reading all the lovely responses on this thread reminded me of the many times that Life has got in the way of rotations and yet it's all worked out quite painlessly anyway.

  I love JUDDD!

LOL - that Kissa suggested you were her lost twin - sounds like us over the past 10 days! Not every day though!!

I just had to share that in the past 10 days I've managed 3 DD only - and am still down - the joy of JUDDD is how forgiving it can be - yes we don't want to abuse it (or ourselves - and unfortunately I, like you, have noticed recently that alcohol consumption isn't the best thing for me!!) but we don't need to stop living!

We have neighbours coming round for drinks on Thursday pm, a DD, and I will have drinks - but very long vodka and diet cokes!!! Luckily they don't know me - so will accept that's how I normally drink - LOL!!!

piglet513 07-17-2013 04:12 AM

The cruddy part is that I still haven't lost any weight since starting JUDDD. I'm certainly not ready to quit; it's just frustrating. If I don't see results soon, I may up my DD calories a little.

Librarygirl 07-17-2013 04:21 AM

Piglet, if you look at my stats you will see how long it's been taking me, but it's still happening. Try tweaking your numbers, and if higher DDs don't work, try higher UDs (with lower DDs).:hugs:

Piglet, you've only been JUDDDing for about 10 days, is that right? That's not unusual to have a slow start, so to speak, and then the losses start coming. If you want to give us your stats, we can double check your numbers. Many, many of us have goofed up on the calculator for one reason or another and one of the JBs has set us straight. I want to see you reaping the rewards and feeling great about it!:hugs:

I guess I expected to lose a few off the bat like I do on most diets and not hit a stall until later on. I have updated my stats if anyone would like to double check the numbers. I've been bouncing between 205 and 207.

LoCarbGal 07-17-2013 08:04 AM

Well, I got 2020 for UD and 404 for DD, which sounds about right. Your calories are a little higher than mine. We're pretty close to the same height and weight, but you're several years younger than me. Are these close to what you've been doing?

I totally understand your frustration! You're putting in the work - where's the reward? It will come I promise!

I get 2020/404 at 20% with no exercise factored in.

ETA: Carol got to you before I did.

Ummm, ahhhh, I think we need to have a big ole Juddd party. I can ONLY IMAGINE how you & Miss Kissa "regularly" drink. Love that you had a good time with your momma...and how awesome that we can have those rum & diets on DDs! Ahem.:heart:

Piglet are the numbers LCG & Dawn gave you the ones you've been using? I am so sorry you are feeling a bit discouraged. :hugs: How many days have you been at it now?

I've only been at it for about 10 days, so I guess I don't really have room to complain. I just figured there would be some scale movement by now seeing as I'm just starting and I have a long way to go. The numbers LCG and Dawn gave me are the numbers I've been using, so I think we're good there. Maybe one day soon I'll get on the scale and see a big woosh! :D

piglet513 07-17-2013 08:19 AM

BTW... the weight loss shown on my stats was from when I was doing Atkins. I wish I'd lost that much in 10 days. ;)

:hugs::heart::hugs: Listen, you complain any ole time you want to!!! I certainly have done so enough times. It's emotional, stressful, confusing and frustrating trying to lose weight, especially on a new plan when you don't know what to expect. I am still pretty much on my original numbers so my advice is to stick to yours like glue still. How are your DDs going? I'm sorry, I haven't had much coffee yet today and I can't remember if you're struggling there or if that's going ok. I know you said you have a hard time meeting UD numbers sometimes.

Flutter 07-17-2013 08:25 AM

PS: I wanted to add what sweet Kissa often says: at 10 days on plan, remember you've only REALLY dieted half the time. So 5 days!

LoCarbGal 07-17-2013 08:28 AM

Great point Melinda!

Yes Piglet, you'll see a nice whoosh one day and then the ball will get going for you. Vent anytime. It helps others to see what we each go through, plus it'll help keep you going just to express it and get the encouragement we all need from time to time.
