I have a friend who has one and he said you have to be driving VERY slow for it to pick up. If he's mowing his grass on the tractor, it tends to count at times so he doesn't wear it for that. He hasn't complained at all about the car though.

I just went to the Jawbone Up site and really like what I'm seeing. Chris, let us know how you like yours! I love some of the features, like the smart alarm and that it syncs with my calorie tracking app.

I will! We have the same calorie app, Dawn (I found a post by you on a forum there yesterday! that was fun ) and it was an e-mail from them that alerted me that the UP interfaced with their app and my android phone, so I thought that sounded great too.

I saw a lot of bad reviews about the Jawbone on Amazon regarding battery life, so you might want to look at some of those.

I found this comparison someone did while wearing several different bands simultaneously. It's pretty interesting.

I saw those ... but already ordered it anyway ... I'll let you know how the battery life is for me (seems to be an inconsistent issue?).

I've been really wanting to order something like this, so it'll be interesting to hear how it performs.

Spoke to a couple of people at Paddle Club. We don't wear anything around our necks in case panicking kids grab them and inadvertently throttle us during a rescue.

If we need to keep anything waterproof then we need to bag it and put it in the dry barrel that we keep on the rescue/monitoring boat.

I must read further as there must be a large community of people who use them despite preferring watersports (it seems that swimmers mostly remove them).

Slowsure, just something that popped into my head: maybe step/activity counters are better for 'land' sports as opposed to water sports? I mean, they may not be able to monitor movement and calories as well as on land, for which they are designed.

If you do consider one, maybe there's one more suitable for water sports when you do you investigations!

I haven't had it register movement in the car. Sometimes it registers stairs climbed when I'm walking up a steep hill, but that doesn't bother me.

I'm exercising so much more and on the day I got it I was 126.5 this morning 123.6- I got it on July 12th.

It really motivates me to exercise. I'm very visual and being able to see it all on the dash board is great. I have it sync to my computer, iPad and iPhone.

Carly, same for me, I really want to see all daily goals achieved when I finally go to bed, so it makes me more aware of how much I move during the day. I am glad we have a dog that needs walking, LOL!

I have mine synced to my Android phone, my iPad and my regular computer. My FitBit Aria scales do the same. I also use the FitBit App, but I prefer a different site for logging food intake, their database is bigger (can't mention it here). I have my FitBits both linked to this as well... Oh, how I love gadgets, LOL!

Thanks. It looks like it's helped you exercise more! I could definitely use that!

It's about 101 degrees here, but I wanted to meet my stair goal so I went out in the hall and climbed to the sixth floor of my building so I could get my stairs in! How does this little contraption have such a powerful effect...
