Hi sloppail, this is great!
10 pounds in five weeks, that's brilliant!! Only "normal" JUDDD, nothing special? With the calorie numbers given by the calculator?
That's such a huge motivation for a newbie like me (third DD today). Wow!

Third DD Today

Need feedback from JB veterans.

Am confused about numbers on Dr Js site. Some here recommend going to the lowest activity choice as we over estimate activity levels. I am doing well with staying at or below 500 calorie on DDs.

My challenge is staying at the lower calorie levels for UDs that are recommended for lower activity levels. I am ravenous in evenings and wind up eating 200 to 300 calories over what I have planned for the day on my calorie tracker. Like about 1800 to 1900.

I do interval training 3 to 5 days weekly on up days.

You're in induction so Dr Johnson would advise you to eat what you need on UD and only introduce UD monitoring of your intake, if necessary, after induction is over.

The if necessary caveat means that you might discover you are shedding weight, and, if so, there is no need for you to count your UD unless you discover that you're losing neither scale weight nor inches. At that point, you might choose to count your UD and eat closer to what seems to be a useful number. But, I think most people here would advocate that you plan to retain your metabolic capacity (Layne Norton has a good video log on this topic) by eating to the top of your range on UD if that's agreeable to you.

As long as you keep a spread of 1000kcals or so between your DD and UD and you're having the results that you want, then experience on this board indicates that you're at about your correct numbers.

You can try the higher activity level numbers and see how your losses are.

Thanks

I appreciate that. I am here trying to heal my metabolic issues from dieting. So that makes perfect sense. I need to also heal my over achiever tendency too.

So if I keep DDs below 500 and try to be sensible on UDs for the next couple weeks and observe how my body reacts I should be off to a good start then.

Shaky on Down Day No 3

Tha nm ks for all the encouragement, JBers. Am still learning how to post.

Am shaky today and adding more fruit in little bits through out the day seems to be helping. Not really counting all the veggies as I am just trying to hang on and not cave.

You're doing great Thomac. Just hang in there. These first DDs are going to be a challenge. It will be so worth it though. You're starting to figure out what will help you get through them. And that will change as you move along in the process. At first, it's just whatever makes you feel like you can make it and not die of hunger. Then, as your body gets used to not being constantly over-fueled, you'll start figuring out the best timing of your eating, and whether you do better on produce, protein, fat, or some combination.

I JB swear this will get easier! That carries more weight than a pinky swear, I'm pretty sure!

Thanks LoCarbGirl.
Made a chilli with no cal, carb Miracle Noodles, small amount of onions and green peppers, bit of jalape˝o tomatoes and a 90 cal Trader Joes turkey burger. Large volume of food and it seems to have offset the hypoglycemic response.

I had a lot of carbs before bedtime last night. Won't be doing that again.

I'm super hungry today too, but realized it was because I had a really good workout last night. I hope that fades as my body gets used to the exercise. :/

WOE: JUDDD - EOD/STILLMANS :)
Start Date: June 2013
Hey everyone, I am not exactly 'new' to JUDDD I have been following this WOE for about 6 weeks total, although the last week has been a write off

Back on track (almost) today - started with a DD day, I have had 416 calories - bit higher than what I hoped for but I have had an awful headache, think I need to drink more water!!

I have been reading through all the post's and everyone is doing brilliantly

Hey there you guys are I have been looking for the jul newbie thread all over!
I started incorporating the EOD JUDDD concept this week. Day 4 I can get into this. I am seeing 3lbs loss
I am staying on plan with my LC WOE. But I do 600 DD 1500 UD calories.
It seems to be giving me a boost I need. At my age I have to include a bit of calorie counting. Although I am allowed up to 2400 cal. I get stalls. I keep at 50grams of low glycemic carbs. I just don't need the high ones. They make me fat and I feel like crap eating them.

Good job TheBelly! You're off to a great start. You'll have to experiment with your calories, but I wouldn't restrict that far under your calculated UD numbers. You want to keep that metabolism humming along at as high a speed as it can, and restricting too far may impede that.

Hi Monkey!! Yes just doing the numbers set for me by the calculator on the website...I always hit my UD #s and go really low on my DDs now, was trying for 500 cals at the beginning bc it seemed more doable on DDs, lower now 300-375...I love JUDDD. Whatever foods you eat are ok as long as you stick to the #s

Just to be the devil's advocate, that is 5 lbs over the "guide" of 5 lbs an inch over 5 ft. Your stats indicate you are only 7 lbs above that guide for 5'4. It seems low to me too at 5'8, but I guess it's about right IF a person feels best at that weight. One of our JB's, Dawn, is 69 in. and 150.

Dodo is male which is why I was a tad apprehensive about that weight albeit I know nothing about the frame size, musculature etc. but I absolutely agree that everyone has a preference for how comfortable they feel at particular volumes/sizes etc.

Yes, he is. I just saw his post on the introduction thread. Sorry for opening my big mouth (again). I agree that it seems very low for a male, but I'm not saying anything else.
