Exercise Check-in for July, 2013

Post anything about exercise and activity here.

We can just check in with a report of the day's workout,
Or give encouragement, ask for advice, tell about victories, offer tips and ideas.

Also feel free to tally up your last month's exercise/hours, or let us know results such as inch loss, new flexibility, stamina increases.

We'd love to hear about them and cheer! If you like, post them at the end of last month's June thread, too.

I'm doing a C2-5K knockoff which is more like C2-10K (the 10k app was the same price as the 5K app so I figured why not? Lol) Today was week 2, day 2. I think I'm shocking myself as I'm getting up at 5am to run and I've always hated running. But, I love how cool and quiet it is in the neighborhood. So far I'm up to walking/running 3.2km. I'm motivated to keep pushing myself because I want to be able to do my workouts on the beach while on vacation in a few weeks.

7/1 - 15 minutes of cardio and 45 minutes of weight lifting - 606 calories

July 1 - 30 minute workout

Hi, Mike! I like the new avatar, you seem slimmer in this photo. You finished June strong.

Can't believe I only got in 7 formal hours of exercise in June, but that's what happens doing more intermediate/advanced DVDs now. Most are 30 minutes.

About the library DVDs to check out, one was The Firm's Ignite from 2011, which I thought I'd mention to Candiceena. Another was Jillian's 2011 Ripped in 30, which I checked out. I usually stick with T-Tapp for better slimming, but don't mind breaking it up some.

I won't measure until our Challenge for Independence Day. But if feeling stronger counts, I had a great June. :D

Welcome, Anonymousity. Enjoy your morning runs! Here it would have to be early morning - the heat and humidity keep me in front of the screen instead. Great job building stamina.

KeirasMom 07-02-2013 12:32 PM

I didn't make it to the gym last night. It was too darned hot. :o
TOM reared his ugly head today, so I won't be going tonight either. :o

I'm not off to a promising start for July. I need to get Keira into something active, so I think we'll resume our weekend roller skating. She's getting a bit pudgier than I'm comfortable with and I don't want to stress her too much with limiting her foods, so I'm trying to come up with fun activities we can do together which seem more like play time than exercise.

LoCarbGal 07-02-2013 12:46 PM

What a great mom you are Dawn. It's especially wonderful if you can help her slim down a little without making a big point that that is what you're doing. And skating is so much fun! I used to go at least weekly and was slender the whole time I kept it up.

Kissa 07-02-2013 04:08 PM

Hi everyone, time for me to get more serious about my exercise. I used to be very consistent with my classes, 3 or 4 times a week. The last year I have let things slip and the result is a less appealing shape even though the scales aren't unkind.

I did a good body conditioning class on Monday and intend to start Couch to 5k tomorrow at the gym, I know it is better to do it out of doors, but at 66 and with a vulnerable arthritic knee I will be happy to make progress on the treadmill.

Dawn, I remember you skating with Kiera before your thyroid issues really hit. Sounds like a great plan.

arkie1 07-02-2013 10:51 PM

I have ordered an adult 3 wheel trike, that should be here next week. When it comes in, I hope that will count towards exercise, and I will post my time riding it here!

That's an interesting phrase, "appealing shape", Cindy. :) I do all my formal exercise indoors with DVDs to avoid weather, temperature, wondering who I'll encounter, dogs, etc. Also I'm available if eldercare becomes a priority, which can happen fast. I realize I'm missing out on scenery!

Thanks LCG! Mike is the one that makes me feel like I am slacking off on this thread!
I am headed on for a nice easy pace 6km run this morning.

Keta 07-04-2013 02:31 PM

:hiya:

I've been alternating between bike riding and doing nautilus at the gym.
Today I rode for about an hour and a 1/2 to Sand Key Beach :)
It's not a hard ride, all flat with a nice breeze coming off the Gulf. (except for the bridge over the intercoastal. The last 2x I was able to make it to the top without walking. :) Yayyyyyy !

Today is a DD and I'm feeling pretty good !

Hope you are all having a great 4th !http://omg.wthax.org/695aSX.gif

KeirasMom 07-04-2013 05:55 PM

I took Keira to the water park today, just for a couple of hours. She went up and down 12 times. I only climbed the hill 4 times. I'm still counting it.

I'm probably just overcompensating for the lack of exercise I will probably get in next month where I will be at the beach for 7 days and then traveling and on a cruise for another 7 days! My current workout schedule doesn't have any rest days, just "Active" rest days where I walk 7.5 miles. We will see how long I can actually keep this up without having to throw in a complete rest day!

Keta 07-05-2013 11:18 AM

Pushing myself to get to the gym.... it's one of those days that I don't feel like doing anything.

Happy Friday :) Have a great weekend !

KeirasMom 07-06-2013 05:25 PM

I laughed for two hours straight watching The Lone Ranger this morning, then spent an hour wandering an art gallery this afternoon. That's the extent of today's "exercise."

Scarlett46 07-07-2013 06:48 PM

I started C25k over the weekend. I haven't been able to really run in about 3 years, due to having both of my hips reconstructed. It feels so good to be back on the roads!

The last time I started this program, I was still a smoker; so I was so happily surprised at how much better my breathing was, even just starting!
