Oh, and yes, it's been fun having my daughter and grandgirl around again...though it really screws up my sleep, i work nights, and have always been a very light sleeper.

My dad was pear shaped...i had a very unpleasant moment recently looking in the mirror nude and realizing I looked like my DAD! Right down to my boobs and flabby arms.

All my female maternal cousins are hovering around 300. I got pretty fat, like 150s, around 12-13, but then did the anorexic/bulemic dance well into my 20's. And kept on fighting for years, constantly...til i eventually lost the battle...Fortunately i DO like veggies and healthy food, and i love to cook, but it's always an uphill journey!
I'm sorry you had to go through that. I know it was hard for your parents, as well as you to have to take care of them. A child shouldn't have to be a parent, and I know your mother didn't want that for you too.

I didn't mean to be so cavalier in my response. I certainly know that I didn't have a rough time growing up, or as an adult and only gained excessive amounts in my late 30s. Part of it was depression, and part of it was just giving up on myself. I am the biggest person in my family even now. My three brothers are relatively short (for men) and all under 5'10. Well, maybe I am about the same weight as one of my brothers lol (I am still thinking I'm 200 lbs). The point is, I'm sorry if I was insensitive, and I hope you know that.

Thanks for the hugs Cindy! And I definitely didn't take your response as cavalier at all! you are such a caring presence on this board! There are lots of rreasons we have all ended up here, genetic/ physical, mental...environmental...hormonal...

The first time i gained a bunch of weight was at the end of my marriage...i didn't get divorced for a few more years, by then i was slim again...and blonde :~) I got really fat when i had to go on psych meds for most of a year around 40, and was baking everyday as a side effect...I got through that, lost 30 lbs again...and then menopause hit with a vengeance. It really is like busting up concrete to move fat when you're 50!

And I can't believe I didn't mention depression in that screed...I know I've mentioned I'm bipolar, and that has been a big factor as well...though these days it's mostly depression.

Hi all. I have been away for a bit and I know I have bounced up at least 10 pounds with three UD's in a row but I had a good reason.

White Oak Bend Dairy Goats - Blog

Had a DD today and it was pretty easy but my legs and hands are really puffed up and they are still that way this evening. Hoping I lose some of that water weight soon. My legs HURT.

I had a dinner that I figured would be a little different for me but I really liked it. Fried shrimp, grits, collard greens and cornbread. Then there was the huge breakfast and Blue Belle three days in a row. We were celebrating.

Thanks everyone. I am a very proud mama.
Down 5 pounds this morning so I am losing some of that water retention from the eating out and the sitting in the truck for long hours traveling. Hope to have an in control UD and I will be back down in another week for sure.
It is strange, but I can eat salt here at home but eating out I puff up so I rarely eat out.
AND REALLY GOOD NEWS THIS MORNING!!! IT IS RAINING!!!!YEA!!! We have been in a drought so it is truly welcome.

It is raining by me, too! We had a constant drizzle yesterday, and it is so nice to have the freshness in the air. (And the moisture in the ground, of course!)

Adi, what a lovely photo and blog post. (You look fantastic!) You must be so incredibly proud of your Ranger! What an accomplishment ... definitely worthy of great celebration. And, great news that the water is already coming off, just as we knew it would.

P.S. I think your experimental goat (Lynnhaven SS Domino) is beautiful! What does it mean to be an experimental? Will you show him?

What a special occasion Adi, you must be so proud of him. Well worth an indulgence or two. You are already seeing the back of that water weight.

I am getting back on track after Vicky's visit, she left yesterday morning and is now safely back in Oman with her DH. Had a good DD today and made it to the gym.

Thank you so much. Yes we are very proud. A friend of mine asked me if we were the oldest parents there. Probably.

An Experimental means he has purebred parents - just not the same breed or in his case his Mother is an Experimental and his sire is a purebred LaMancha but if he had had a sister she would have been a first generation American LaMancha. Bucks need an additional generation to become American.
And I agree that he is gorgeous. That is why I am keeping an Experimental buck. But I have some Experimental does to breed him to. I love crossbreeds due to their hybrid vigor.

I got home about an hour ago and now I have the dehydrator (celeriac plus tomatoes) and the oven on (2x meatloaf and 2x Pâté) and I've just potted up my green pepper jelly (so the hob was on).

I've now retreated to the coolest part of the house and refuse to go back into the kitchen for a good 30 minutes as I can't take the heat or the humidity any longer.

Of course, this means that I've left a mountain of washing-up in the kitchen that will have to be done later but I've reached my limit.

ETA: I'd like some iced tea

I am hot right now too, SS, and I'm in a very cold air conditioned building. It can't be hot flashes, so I think it's my revved up metabolism.

Definitely get some iced tea Slow! Of course, I assume you will have to nip back into the kitchen to get it.

Cindy, I always think when I have the DD shivers "Oh, I must be burning fat because I'm eating so little!" and when I am feeling hot I think "Oh, I must be burning fat because my metabolism is going so good!" I just hope it's true most of the time!

It is iced coffee for me, my new passion, I don't even need milk in it

I am so impressed Slow with you even thinking of cooking and bottling. Everyone gets pretty much cold food around me on these glorious evenings. We have eaten outside every evening since Saturday. Tonight I did cook a pizza, just a veggie one with cold smoked salmon added before serving. And lots of salads.

Back down to 126.4 after a scary high of 130.2 a few days back. Just one seriously good DD after a reasonably good weekend. Got to love this WOE.

You won't hear me complaining about this weather no matter how hot it gets. The UK hasn't enjoyed a long warm spell like this for years.

You will appreciate the cold weather when you start having the hot flashes, Flutter.

Cindy, I am curious too about your iced coffee. I would love to find a way to enjoy it without cream, sometimes.

I'm watching obese and expecting on TLC. It is so sad
All that these women are going through with being so morbidly obese and being pregnant. I feel like I still really identify in some ways...
