I slipped on some backless loafers and headed down the street for my iced tea. Got through the drive-thru, no prob. I was almost out of the parking lot when I got a FLAT TIRE!!

I called DH, but his phone was in the living room, and he was (and still is) blissfully ASLEEP! I waited 10 minutes, then decided to walk home. Keep in mind, I don't live in the best neighborhood, and by then it was only 5:00 a.m. and still dark! My shoes do not have great traction, and I slipped on a wet patch of sidewalk, and have pulled something in my right thigh. I had my pepper spray at the ready, and made it home safely, though I did encounter 3 separate weirdos out and about that early.

When I got home, I checked the distance and I actually walked over 2/3 of a mile. You can bet I'm counting it as exercise!! I'm sure you all needed the visual of me in my sweats, t-shirt, loafers, and no bra.
OMG, that is hilarious. I'm sorry I'm laughing at your predicament, but you definitely made me feel better about having a flat in the driveway. Did you at least get your coffee (in the other hand)? If the pepper spray didn't work, scalding hot coffee would.

I think she said she got an iced tea. Maybe ice cubes thrown at their head would knock them out LOL

Hehe, I walked home with pepper spray in one hand, and a 32 oz iced tea in the other. I almost left my tea in the car, but decided after all the trouble, it was definitely coming home with me!

ETA: To add to the insane ensemble, I had my beautiful new Coach purse clutched firmly under my arm.

Keira has ridiculously sensitive skin, too. We have to use dye-free, perfume-free soap, laundry detergent, etc. or she breaks out in rashes. She has a histamine reaction to minor scratches, too, where even if she doesn't feel it, the scratch site will raise up like a welt.

Make sure you never let her try acne medicine!!! C (DS2 that has the crazy sensitive skin) got hives for 2 weeks after trying some of DS1's stuff. Horribly allergic to the benzo! (no, he did not tell me before hand he was going to try it!)

I always hoped that I'd 'grow out' of the sensitivities, but I never did. Some of the reactions were bad enough that it looked as if I might need a skin graft to repair the skin afterwards. Fortunately, despite the sensitivities, I used to be excellent at healing.

Now that I'm older, I'm mindfully cautious. I'm very careful after sun exposure or exercise (both of them can increase your sensitivity - and in the case of the latter it can even be associated with anaphylaxis that is never otherwise an issue - this latter case is for a small number of people and it tends to be food allergy that is the issue there, but I know that the histamine/anti-histamine activity etc. post-exercise can lead to an exacerbated response).

(I should say that you can't avoid everything. The largest-scale reactions that I had were in response to medical plaster - and a couple of those involved staff who knowingly used the wrong plaster but assumed that as long as I couldn't see the stuff because it was hidden by layers of fabric bandage, it wouldn't actually be a problem. Sigh.)

Erm - DH just fired the infra-red thermometer gun at my forearms to take a reading at various spots.

He helpfully informed me that my skin temperature reading is between 34.4-34.9C.

He thinks I had to be told that's how hot my sunburned skin is?

Meet the man with olive skin who has no understanding of what it is to be red-blonde with fair skin...

I love him. Nonetheless, there are times that I'm astonished that so many chaps make it to their 40th birthdays without their loved ones doing them some harm or marooning them on an archipelago.

Oh... I so relate! I'm a strawberry blonde as you can see and Chelly/DW thinks sunscreen is a meaningless after thought. I use an entire bottle of 50SPF when we spend 5 days at the beach and still look like a lobster- she just lays in the sun for hours and gets darker!!!!!! At least after all these years of training her on how to liberally apply sunscreen to my back (even under the bathing suit straps) I don't get splotches of burns where she "missed"

My hubby loves to show off his tan (he is already tan by mid-Spring even if he just worked on the car in the driveway) and all I get are freckles! At least I don't burn anymore. I have "some" color on my arms but I don't understand it since we are both Italian and I just look white as a ghost most of the time LOL

I'm fair and just burn and peel. Keira is olive complected and rarely burns, but she gets an awesome tan. I find that weird, given her sensitive skin, but it's great when I happen to forget the sunscreen.

So I spent the better part of today embroidering two towels.
One of them was for real, the other was a test-stitch-out.
The "owl" one was a test, and I have to make some modifications on that one.
The "coffee" one has over 31,000 stitches, and it took hours (literally).

I used to sunburn really fast but once I was put on hydrocortisone for adrenal insufficiency I can go ages and get a nice tan, it's so odd! Weather is beautiful here, it's been nearly 7yrs since we've had this much sun. I had 2 UD in a row last week so yesterday ended up being somewhere inbetween and today is a real DD. I wanted to switch them around because we are going to the beach tomorrow and I want ice-cream!!!

It's odd how many expressions there are for white legs. In the UK, we refer to people as having 'milk bottle legs' but the even paler and implied sicklier white shade than that is 'peely wally white' (now, there's a shade you'll never see on paint sample cards) with 'wally' pronounced to rhyme with Sally.

That's fortunate. I wonder if you're by-passing the inflammation and going for the nicely helpful vitamin D production and tan. *envy*

It's a pest today, I'm wearing short sleeves so that people can see to avoid touching my arms or bumping me, as best they can. But, I'm already tired of commenting on it. "Yes, it is sore. Yes, I was wearing a sunscreen. Obviously, I need one that is more waterproof and I'll know better next time."

I'd like to go and snooze under a tree for the remainder of the afternoon but failing that, I might go to a food hall over lunch and stand near the fridges just to get some cool air on my arms

Aloe!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Get aloe- it really helps. We have some brands here that are especially made for sunburned skin. It has additional moisturizer, but also some cooling agent like alcohol, perhaps.

SS, yes aloe will help too! I have an aloe plant that I use for burns, etc.

I burn in the sun too, but also tan. I'm not sure how good tanned skin looks on people over 40 though...

I will let you know soon!

Slow, yes, aloe is very helpful on sunburns. My pasty sensitive skin boy needs it often. {sigh} I am sorry you are hurting!!

Pam, those are lovely! I imagine it took forever indeed! I used to cross stitch years ago. (When my eyes worked and I was young!)

Well, from your picture, you look lovely tan, Flutter. I certainly didn't mean to imply that anyone here shouldn't tan or wouldn't look good with a tan. The only thing I am concerned about (for ME) is the wrinkles that accompany a tan, frequently.

I just went to a local store to get some lunch, and the guy asked me, "Do you want any bread or anything sweet?" And I told him no, I was watching sugar right now. Then some lady (customer) that happened to overhear said, "You shouldn't eat sugar at all. It causes cancer, and (to emphasize, she patted her stomach) puts on the weight." I said, "Well, I fast every other day." Don't ask me why I shared this with a complete stranger, lol...She said, "You shouldn't do that. Just eat moderately. That's bad for you." I said, "No it's not, it's good for you." OMG, I was arguing with this little old lady in a convenience store. Kinda pissed me off though.

Ok JBs what do you think is going on...
Monday 7/1- DD
Tuesday 7/2- UD
Wednesday 7/3- DD
Thursday 7/4- UD
Friday 7/5- DD
Saturday 7/6- UD
Sunday 7/7- DD

I was pretty dizzy on Friday, Saturday and Sunday, but had loads of energy yesterday/ Sunday. Yesterday/Sunday, I had 1 cup of coffee in the morning and then fasted till bedtime snack at 9:45pm, went to bed at 10:15pm and I woke up at 12:15am this morning Wide Awake!!!! I never fell back to sleep. I felt energetic all day until about 5pm and now I feel like .

Do you think my body went into shock by going back to EOD rotations? I also think TOM is overdue and I feel very bloated. I hope it's just a coincidence and has nothing to do with going back to rotations.
