JUDDD isn't known as a particularly "fast" way to lose. Some here lose very slowly, while others drop weight like crazy. I came from Atkins, but carbed up before starting JUDDD. Honestly, my loss was faster with JUDDD than with Atkins, but I don't want to make it seem like your experience will mimic mine. We're all so different, with our own unique metabolisms and sets of challenges.

I DO feel that JUDDD can take more weight off than other diets, but not because it's better or faster, only because it's easier to stick with. Restricting every other day is much easier, psychologically, and I think helps to alleviate some of the burn-out associated with other plans.

Regarding ketosis, there's some indication that DDs bring about a mild form of ketosis on their own, whether you're low carb or not. I'm not sure about the science, so don't quote me on that, but I have tested with ketostix while doing JUDDD with no regards to carb counts, and have consistently tested pink on DDs. That may be what helps with appetite, especially when you've been doing it for a while. Since I didn't do low carb in conjunction with JUDDD, I don't know if already being in ketosis will make it easier or not. I just know it IS easy once you've done a few DDs and find what works to keep you satisfied. I'm not saying there are never rough DDs (I had one yesterday) but they aren't usually hard and they don't happen very often, in my experience.

Living on the eastcoast USA - I've been to Hershey, PA (where they make Hershey chocolate bars) they use the cocoa bean shells for mulch around town! Nothing like the smell of Chocolate!! Of course it helps with sales!

The good thing is nobody is coming over tomorrow until around dinner time so I do have time to get things done. Hubby will be at work though so he can only help when he gets home tonight. I'm trying to get my MIL to bring some food tomorrow so that will give me one less thing to make. My sister will bring dessert if I tell her. So far I only have watermelon. Oh, and the vaccum just broke!

LOL, Kismet. I hate when things break! My dryer needs a new belt...it screeches like a horror movie. Wish me luck on getting bf to replace it this weekend.

I don't think we're doing anything special tomorrow, unfortunately. It would be nice...might go watch some fireworks, or just step outside and watch the neighbors lol.

Do the neighors do entertaining things? LOL I can set my clock by my neighbors. The woman gets home at 5:00 and then goes back out at 6:00. She comes back within 20-30minutes with bags of take-out. No joke she never cooks that I can tell LOL

Piglet I think the main reason to JUDDD is 1) You only have to diet every other day 2) There are good health benefits to alternate day fasting. As for fast, nope it's never been fast for me. It took me a whole year to lose 40 lbs. It took me another whole year to gain back 1/2. With low carb it would have all come back plus 10lb. immediately.

I'm in White Plains so I would have to squint a tiny bit
I go downtown 2-3x a month plus or minus depending on how many times I have to go in for work related things.

I lived on 6th Street and 2nd Ave when I was in my 20's, but White Plains is a bit quieter- although my street is a busy one so not consistently quieter, but overall.

My sister lives downtown and I like to visit, but I'm never sorry to come home. Her building is really, really nice, but she pays more for a studio than we do for a 2 bedroom. Our rent is still highway robbery, but hers is down right criminal!!!!!!!!!!

Oh, I can't imagine affording rent down there. We passed by a realty office and I saw a posting for an apartment that costs 7 times what I pay for my mortgage on my house.

LOL, I can always count on some fun banter in here. I realized after I wrote, "Go watch the neighbors" that it didn't come across right. I meant watch the neighbors shoot fireworks!

Kismet, if I were you I would be wondering why on earth your neighbor didn't just pick up take away on the way home the first time.

Another reason I want to visit Hershey! The first is that the first time my father tasted chocolate, it was a Hershey bar that an American soldier gave to him at the end of the war. Even though he was of the firm opinion as an adult that Swiss and German chocolate was much better, he still had a soft spot for Hershey bars. He would pick them out of our Halloween hauls, and keep them for himself.

If I'm every in PA (and I'd like to go to the county to see Frank Lloyd Wright's Falling Water ) then Hershey sounds like a good day trip.

Well, I did it. I can't believe I ate the whole thing!!!! I woke up hungry and irritable and sent bf to get us breakfast, with specific instructions on what I wanted. I intended to "save" some of it. Yeah right. I have now consumed my entire day's calories before 10 am. Who said they couldn't eat 1800 calories in a few hour's time? I did. I guess I proved that wrong. Ugh! On the plus side, I can't imagine being hungry for a long, long time.

Please help--I am panicking a bit here. For the first time yesterday, on a DD, I didn't feel hungry. I felt great! And then I had a nagging feeling that I would not lose any weight because I didn't feel hunger. Then sure enough when I weighed myself this morning--nothing. I might have even gone up a few ounces after a DD!

Now I am freaking out that this is the end AND JUDDD has stopped working. Has anyone else had this experience? I still have so much weight to lose, btw. (5'5", 214 lbs). When I look at others' weight logs it seems people usually lose after a DD. Is my experience normal? Thanks in advance for your help.

Please do not panic. It isn't at all unusual because our bodies are not predictable input/output machines that operate in never-changing environmental conditions - if they were, weight loss would be a breeze.

There are any number of reasons for you to be holding on to water and this can relate to sodium, carbohydrate, glycogen, TOM, pretty much anything. It can also *TMI* relate to your bowel regularity*, recent volume of food and whether you've eaten something which is encouraging the growth of colon bacteria (which might actually be helpful).

Like most other WOEs, JUDDD is not a linear process.

I wouldn't worry! Sounds like you had a great DD. The book suggests you weigh once a week after a DD because so many things can make you fluctuate. Most people weigh every day or after every DD so they get used to seeing "bounces". Don't give up!

Sorry, I've been resting. It wasn't that much, really. It was a smoked sausage biscuit, no egg, medium hash browns, and 2 cinnamon raisin biscuits. I wasn't going to eat the cinnamon biscuits, certainly not both, but I tasted one and that was the end.
