I have no goal for July. I can't even begin to try to imagine what this month will be like. I will continue as normal as possible and will be happy with whatever the month brings me.

Finally started eating again, even though it still felt empty to eat (if that makes any sense). 7/1 - 204.1 - UD - (calories? probably went over) - passed today the halfway mark to goal!
7/2 - 205.7 - DD (554)
7/3 - 204.0 - UD (?) - ate lightly during the day then didn't count and went a little nuts at dinner AGAIN. must fix this. being done with the booth will help, I think.
7/4 - 206.7 - DD - Rather than a double up day, I'm shooting for a higher down day.
7/5 - 207.5 - UD (2008) - I have been so off with my rotations ... getting back on track now.
7/6 - 205.1 - DD (608)
7/7 - 203.0 - UD (2008 + a couple bites before bed, uncounted) - That makes 70 pounds evicted.

Are big bounces typical for JUDDD?? I am a daily weigher and the bounces do not usually bother me that much, but this one was significant. I have noticed more than one person has an exceptionally low day and then the bounce back up for a few days before the weight settles. Trying to deal with the scale bounce calmly as I have only been doing JUDDD about 4 weeks now.
I am so happy for you that you are able to look at this calmly. Usually it takes time to get the "JUDDD calm," when you're confident that bounces up will come down, but you seem to have picked this up early and are not panicking, which is definitely a positive (and accurate) mindset. I've had bounces that big too. People have different bounces depending on what they do on their UDs/DDs, but as you've noticed for many of us it is really common to hit a new low, then bounce up and around for a bit before the next new low ... especially when some sort of celebration is involved. You're doing great!

Rose - please do not worry. You cannot gain real pounds from higher DDs, just water weight. I like to think about it this way: up days are your maintenance calories. If they are right, you could eat those calories every day and not gain. Any calories fewer than that on DD would cause you to lose weight over time, even if it is only 100 calories less! So if your up days have been on target, this water weight will come off and you will be fine. :hug:

Thanks Chris. I have been dieting since 9/2012 and really hve never let the scale bother me TOO badly. I like to weight daily and feel as though if I do not weight daily this will lead me back down the road to gaining it all back. It is just that with LC the bounces up usually were small and this bounce up really threw me for a loop until I looked at others fluctations. Then my heartbeat stabilized and I was a bit more rational

Yes, it does make sense. When family doesn't know what to do or say, it's easiest to try and support the everyday things like food - hence people constantly offering you items. It can be so difficult to express concern and love in any other way at times.

It's horribly disheartening when these bounces come but they do go. (I had a 5lb and a few days later a 6lb bounce in March and I remember being aghast with horror when I saw the scale.) I can only agree with CaliChris.

CaliChris is spot on - short of you having forgotten to mention that your UDs involved eating contests in which you consumed an additional 17,500kcals in excess of your needs, those extra pounds are nothing but fluctuations in water, sodium, electrolytes, glycogen etc. etc.

Don't worry Lori. I have seen many times when I hit a new low, the scale goes up for few days before I see this number again and sometimes another new low will follow right away.

Goal for July - 190, keep bounces below 195, more Strength Training trying to lean out

7/1 - DD - 199.6, 1028, 60 minutes of cardio/weight lifting
7/2 - UD - 197.8, 2672, 65 minutes cardio/weight lifting
7/3 - MD - 198.6, 1579 - turned into a MD, 75 minutes cardio/weight lifting
7/4 - UD - 195, (ate a lot, but kept low carb), 7.54 mile walk this morning
7/5 - DD - 200.6, 926, 63 minutes of cardio/weight lifting
7/6 - UD - 195, 4000+, 7.55 mile run/walk early this morning
7/7 - UD - 199.6, 2038, 65 minutes cardio/weight lifting
7/8 - DD - 199.2, 1521, rest day, my ankle was sore from slipping on some gravel on Sunday
7/9 - UD - 197.2, 2600 planned, cardio/weight lifting planned

Woo hoo Dawn!! You finally broke the bouncing!!


I feel like my scale is broken but I stepped on it 6 times this morning (I even moved it to a different location!) I had 5 UD's between the end of June/beginning of July, and I think the recent rotations have helped me get back down to where I was before all those UD's (and then some!) Is this what is referred to as the "magic of JUDDD"? I guess I do have to believe the scale, because yesterday I wore a pair of pants that I don't think I can wear anymore (they are too big)
