This is me! I just love solitary walking with meditative music of course! Few years back, a friend used to call me up to go for a walk with her but she was always late, drove me up the wall and then she went on vacation and my walks went with her!! Lesson learnt!

In the meantime we moved, then another friend just up the road asked me if she could go with me. I told her point blank that once in a while may be, but to be honest that time is my own to be one with God and his creation. So now I call her once a awhile after I am already out of the house, no chance of changing my mind! She is so different, always ready to join me at a drop of a hat, never late and keeps the pace! But I still prefer to walk by myself! As you say we're all so different. I would say to you, go for it, you will love the results!

P.S. In order to lose weight, I have to do both, diet and exercise! I wouldn't lose otherwise, I know!

ohhhh walk away the pounds. I love that series - and one of these days will get back to it. I like that it's cardio and light weights at the same time... did wonders for how I looked last time I lost weight - this time weight is coming off, but I look squishy. I am in need of toning.

I like walking alone too. Like many of you said, an exercise partner has it's drawbacks in more ways than one. I don't want to disappoint anyone if I have other plans or can't exercise one day, nor do I want to depend on someone who may not be available sometimes...plus, I want to start listening to books on tape while I exercise too. (I have found out that I'm going to need more space on my phone in order to use it for that purpose)...anyway, think I'll start today. Thanks for all the input, sweet JBs.

ETA: I have use of a gym at work, but a little intimidated by it...might check it out after work one day next week and see who's using it at that time.

Oh, do check it out. That is a great resource. I would be tickled pink to have a gym I could use. Try not to be intimidated. I think most people are just focused on themselves and their workout and that they really aren't paying attention to what others are doing.

Cindy, I hope you find something you enjoy doing.
Walking while "reading" sounds good to a bookworm like me!

I have access to 2 workout rooms and 2 pools, but I don't think I'm going to be baring my (bathing suit-clad) bod in front of anyone for a while, much less undergrads.

Doesn't it, Flossy? I used to listen to books on tape on my commute but got out of the habit. I need to find my mp3, or get another battery for my phone.

ETA: The babies and I just got back from a 15 minute walk.

Love Leslie's DVD. I use them often when the weather is lousy in the winter. She always puts me in a good mood.

You are all reminding me how much better I feel when I exercise regularly. I love my exercise classes but hate going back to them after a break, cos I know how I will ache.

Cindy I really hope you keep up the walking and maybe start to use the gym.

You have made a start!
