UD Thursday: menu and plans

I have a plan but it's not really fully worked out as it seems wise to cancel today's appointments (and tomorrow's).

B Coffee with MCT oil and lecithin (158kcals)

L Sardines with seaweed crackers, charred red peppers and gherkins. (360kcals)

Dinner will depend on what I can reasonably come up with to instruct DH to reheat correctly. :o

zipp2play 06-13-2013 05:12 AM

OH Girl, I was hoping things would have turned the corner for you! Feel better soon!

For me:

B - 2 egg, toast 290c
S - protein granola bar 190c
L - leftover pizza 400c
D - it's Book club night! We are going to a local Mexican restaurant....I have over 1000c to use!

Love book club night!

pooticus 06-13-2013 05:22 AM

Gosh Slow!!! I hope you start feeling bed in short order!!! :hugs: Rest, rest, rest!

Yay! Book club! How fun, Zipp!

It's just another working day for me, then am going to hope for the energy to make a yummy meal!

I'm thinking I'm making cabbage roll casserole tonight from my Mom's old cabbage roll recipe. It's so delicious! Instead of rice, I will use Miracle rice.

UD:

b: decaf coffee
3 soft-boiled eggs with butter
5 grape tomatoes

l: chicken salad with eggs and stuffed in half an avocado
2 oz carrot sticks

s: 1 oz walnuts

d: cabbage roll casserole

dessert: I'm feeling "dessert-ish" so it might be an lc apple-pie mug or a choco-peanut butter mug.

Slow, I really hope the healing magic happens for you soon!

Attempting the "Dropping Acid" Reflux diet to see if it helps with my silent reflux issues. Since it requires not eating 4 hours before bed, which means I have to eat dinner in my office due to my lengthy commute, I'm loading up on calories earlier in the day.

B-steel cut oats, almond milk, banana, 7-grain bagel and maybe a cup of iced coffee (only allowed one a day!)-650 calories

L/D- Chipotle burrito, rice, black beans, chicken, corn, sour cream- 1100 calories

Snack in late evening- banana

This diet is basically the opposite of everything I've been eating to keep my bg low, because it's very low-fat. I'm hoping just cutting down on acidic foods is enough and I don't need to do the actual induction.

KeirasMom 06-13-2013 07:54 AM

B: Everything bagel with cream cheese, coffee, iced tea
L: Banh Mi with Sriracha
D: Rotisserie chicken with horseradish mustard, quinoa with butter, green beans

LoCarbGal 06-13-2013 08:18 AM

Aw Slow, I'm glad you're not going to push yourself too much. We gotta get you feeling better.

Dawn, I'm curious how (if) you count the calories for the Banh Mi you eat so regularly? I have a well regarded Vietnamese restaurant nearby that I'm going to try soon. Do you just use an online calorie website to estimate? It sounds so yummy!

B: Coffee/HWC, apple or chobani
L: Breakfast for lunch - fried ham and eggs
D: Vodka gimlet, grilled chicken, sautéed zucchini and onions with melted cheese
D: Grapes

Well, an hour after eating a banana and bagel, I tested my bg and it was 145! Which is outrageously high for me. The steel cut oats were fine though, an hour after eating them my bg was 95. So it was either the banana, the bagel, or the combo. Either way, a low-fat, high-carb diet this doctor recommends won't work for me. I think I'll try just incorporating less acidic food and not eating after 7pm for now.

LoCarbGal 06-13-2013 08:37 AM

Yikes deedee! I agree, I wouldn't mess with BG issues. You've got a good plan, and know your body well.

Demonica 06-13-2013 08:40 AM

B- sausage, eggs with CO, coffee with HWC
L- turkey burger, almonds, string cheese
D- shredded chicken with mayo and mustard, broccoli, chocolate almond milk

Thanks LCG! Yeah that was a scary number I haven't seen in a while. It's all one big science experiment isn't it? Before I found this board, I never would have known how much personal experimenting was not only good but necessary to figure things out. One-size-fits-all diet plans just don't work for everyone.

I used my on-line calculator and found they range from 300-500 or so. The place I usually go uses very little mayo, and is light on the meat, but heavy on the daikon/carrots/cilantro/jalapeno, so I chose the 300 calorie option. There's another place I go that uses more mayo and is a little heavier handed with the meat as well, so depending on how they make it, I'll add 100-200 calories. I never order the Banh Mis with lots of sauce. I then add Sriracha and add another 20 calories for that (I use quite a bit), so my Banh Mi comes in at 320 calories. I eat it enough where I know it hasn't affected my loss (or maintenance when I'm maintaining), so I think it's pretty accurate.

As a bonus, just like Wendy's, when I walk in the door, they know what I want. :D I'm such a creature of habit! It's a sit-down place too, and they don't even bring me a menu anymore. I really shock them when I order Pho or something else off the menu.

LoCarbGal 06-13-2013 09:26 AM

Thanks Dawn, that's just what I was hoping to hear. I love that they see you coming! I'm really anxious to go try this place for lunch sometime soon. When I was in fourth grade I had a friend who was straight from Vietnam, and her mom cooked the most delicious things for us. I learned to use chopsticks with her family and thought I was so cool!

KeirasMom 06-13-2013 09:31 AM

My BFF is half Japanese. Her mom would get irked with her whenever I was over for dinner because I could use my chopsticks better than she could.

FairyWren 06-13-2013 09:47 AM

B: Black coffee
L: nothing
D: Steak, fried onions, fried egg, steamed veg
Snacks: homemade yoghurt with splenda. Cheese. An orange.

Total = approx 1700

SlowSure 06-13-2013 11:45 AM

It seems DH doesn't feel like assembling more than our dried tomatoes, lettuce and some cheese for dinner :)

So, I may resort to some medicinal chocolate covered almonds and a mug of cocoa to make up the calories. I'll do my best to bear up bravely under the need for a chocolate intervention.

pinacoladas 06-13-2013 01:48 PM

Well, I'm back on the wagon, so to speak...or off the wagon...whichever means drinking wine
Today was supposed to be a DD but since I've done three-in-a-row DDs this week, and being that I'm taking a vacation day tomorrow, I decided to have a treat!
B- usual two cups of coffee with HWC and sf vanilla syrup
L- chili lime peanuts plus one square of dark chocolate, 90 cals of turkey and 150 of provolone cheese
D- glass of dry sauvignon blanc from NZ and a couple ounces of really delicious aged swiss cheese
I'm still under cals for an UD but I'm sure I'll have a bit of something later tonight. Packing for a water park trip and then off to an early start tomorrow (which will probably be an MD but will shoot for a DD with lots of fluids and electrolytes...and maybe an energy drink as I will be burning a lot of cals in the sun!) Happy UD to everyone :high5:

Wow, I forgot to post in here today. Here's the damage so far...

B-coffee - 50
smoothie - 345

s-crackers-200

L-yogurt, 2 peaches - 220

s-vanilla cookies - 200

D-cheeseburger, tater tots (and red wine maybe later)

MrsAndi 06-13-2013 05:13 PM

B-pancake with butter; coffee with ff creamer and sugar
L- 1/2 lean cuisine and house fried rice
D- 1/2 lean cuisine and house fried rice
S- red velvet cake in a bowl; italian ice

Librarygirl 06-13-2013 05:37 PM

I opened the wine and immediately got appetite suppression lol. I didn't make the tater tots and didn't add cheese to the burgers. Poor BF. ;) He is happy though and would only pick at the tots and I'd end up eating most of the pan. Still haven't had my burger, but will later, and also made a beautiful salsa I'm going to try when we watch the Playoffs!

Hi Ms. A! :)

Silverrain 06-14-2013 05:45 AM

I never posted here, but I didn't have a specific plan. I was crazy-busy all day yesterday, so did not have much time at all to eat. I didn't make it to my UD calories, but wasn't hungry at all. I don't feel hungry today, either, so might be a good DD for me. Finally!

Librarygirl 06-14-2013 06:29 AM

Good job, Silverrain. :) I hope you have a good DD too. I don't think I've ever not met my UD calories lol.
