Question for Maintainers

All of you are an amazing inspiration!

I was wondering how you arrived at your current maintenance plan. Please describe how you tweaked it along the way and what you are doing now.

Right now I'm keeping my down days somewhere between 500 and 900 which is the 60% level for me, and I'm not counting up days. I incorporate a 16/8 fast so that I never eat before noon. The thing is, it looks like I may continue to lose at this level. (I was curious, so I weighed today and I'm down another two pounds.) Did you find that you lost below your goal weight? Does Juddd basically tell you where you'll look and feel your best? Maybe it will actually be a little bit below what I think.

WOE: Whatever plan keeps me around 150 lbs!
I went into maintenance in January and switched to 5:2. I did lose a little more on 5:2, about 10 pounds over a couple of months. Then I decided to try not fasting at all for a couple of weeks, and that worked well if I stayed at or near my normal UD calories (around 1700) every day, though that's the number without exercise, and I do exercise.

I've just decided to go back to WLM since I'm not 100% happy with my stomach and I feel like I'd look better if I lost another 10 pounds or so.

I'm one who has to really pay attention to my body and not let my head get in the way. I can be a bit compulsive, and don't want to end up going lower just because "I can." That's why I maintained for so long before deciding it would be okay to lose a bit more, if that makes sense.

JUDDD and other forms of IF are so wonderful for maintenance. I never in a million years thought maintaining would be so easy and stress-free. Yes, I counted in maintenance, but I have a feeling, I will always have to count, as I'm still prone to 3000+ calorie days if I eat whatever I want. It's worth it to me, though.

Dawn, are you still doing 5:2 or are you back to eod rotations? How low are your DDs?

I'm back to EOD rotations, starting yesterday. I'm allowing 35% DDs which are 616, but I came in at 323 yesterday. I'm not in any hurry to lose, since I'm pretty happy where I am except for the stomach pooch which doesn't seem to be responding to exercise.

I entered maintenance in February. I switched to fixed M,W,F DDs under 300 and UDs ate what I wanted- no counting. I lost 3 more pounds the month I did 4:3 so switched to 5:2. I do 2 DD under 300 (often much less) and 5 days whatever. I usually don't eat during the day though, but sometimes I do.

I'm probably going to go back into WLM, as well, and will probably return to 4:3 to start since 3-4 pounds a month would be fine with me. I'd like to lose about 8-10 pounds since I too, am displeased with my pooch.

Maintenance has been a joy! Simple and pleasant. I really like DDs so haven't minded 2 really good, low, DDs each week.

Maintenance is just about the same as the WLM for me. A super low DD followed by an UUAD

Thanks everybody! I've thought about possibly going to a 4:3. I started there with M,W,F DDs and UDs on the weekend. Then last week when we went away for vacation, I did the eod rotation for the first time. It is working amazingly well, almost too well (if that's possible). I've been almost giddy this week with how easy this is, and more weight is coming off. I think I could get addicted to just watching the number go down, but I have to stop somewhere.

Are you at goal? Your stats show that you are? Maintenance has been a breeze for me. I can't sing the praises of 5:2 enough for maintenance for me.

Yes, I'm at goal and trying to figure out what the best plan for maintenance will be. I'm a little nervous I will gain on 5:2.

I was amazed not to gain on 5:2. Of course I saw higher weights after a run of UDs, but over a month I maintained with a pound or two.

I'd give a go. It is easy e ought to add a DD if you need to.

I did gain on my month of vacations and have taken it slowly losing them. I am so much more relaxed about the number than I was.

I was wearing some jeans this week which are fitting better than 6 years ago when I had starved myself to a lower weight on LC and low cal.

I take a DD when I can and the weight is moving gently down.

On 5:2 how low do you go on DDs? Also do you have specific days you assign as DDs? How did you decide?

Many, many thanks to sweet Adi, Dawn, Carly & Kissa for being such wonderful roll models for all of us judddsters!! Love you guys!! As I've said before, seeing folks that use the plan for maintenance is the ONLY reason I started it to begin with. I am so hopeful that I will be able to stay at goal weight once I'm there this time. What a HUGE thing that will be for me! I have never been able to do that...

Thanks for the thread CC! I am thinking I will be moving my goal weight lower soon, but it's nice to read about what works for maintenance! So many options, it's SO COOL!

Normally I do Monday and Wednesday, but of course that can be adjusted if something comes up. I stay under 300, but aim for under 200. It really depends on coffee consumption. I always just have a bedtime snack on DDs for food, but have 1-3 cups of coffee.

Does that mean you only have a snack and coffee all day? Do you have cream in your coffee? So, you're aiming for pretty much the lowest calories you can?

How does this work with regard to fluctuations? Do you weigh more than once a week, and do you find that you go above your maintenance weight say Thursday through Sunday since you're having 4 UDs in a row? Do you ever find you have to add in another DD?

Also, how long after you hit goal did you move over to 5:2?

Sorry for all the questions, but I'd love to be able to maintain like you have.

Yes, just my snack at bedtime and coffee. I usually use SF creamer or powdered creamer for about 30 calories a cup. My weight fluctuates, but that is normal. I rarely see 127, but before TOM I may. I switched to 4:3 when I called goal and did that for 1 month. Then switched to 5:2.

Me too, I often only weigh in once a weeks, unheard of in the past.

I chose Monday and Thursday as my DDs but I vary them as often as needed. I even do 2 DDs together on occasion.

This is the confidence that comes with knowing the Sirtuins are there. After my vacation I was a little stricter and added more DDs but the whole point is that I now listen to my body. However, I do believe that the Ptero and the Resveratrol help me to keep a balanced view of food. They really stop my hinger.

Kissa, how much does your weight fluctuate during the week? Do you allow a certain range like 3-5 pounds over?

I do DDs on Monday and Thursday - don't count calories, just drink my coffee (with half-and-half) in the morning and afternoon - then a light dinner. When I counted calories at the beginning, this was approximately 500 calories.

On UDs, I simply eat as I choose - typically low-carb but occasionally anything I want.

I'm still trying to learn to recognize when I've eaten "enough"

I love the ease of this WOE - I've done hcg and, although it worked, it was HARD. And I've basically low-carved for years, it's so nice to be able to eat carby treats and not do lasting weight damage!

I weigh myself ever day - have done so for almost 20 years - a bit OCD, maybe?

Bonnie - How much does your weight fluctuate during the week? I'm curious what to expect if I decide to move on to 5:2.

2-3 pounds - and I tend to get worried at a 3 pound gain, pull back on eating on those days. After a DD it's not unusual to go down 2 pounds, then creep back up over the next few UDs.

I think that if I ever step on the scale and see more than a 3 pound gain, I'll immediately do a DD.

When we travel and I overeat/don't weigh myself, I've put on perhaps 5 pounds (after a week or so) - so far, a couple of back-to-back DDs have taken care of this.

I've been toying with the idea of two DDs in a row. It sounds like you see success with them if you're able to get the vacation weight off so fast.

I have always done eod rotations after vacation and found that 2 DDs over 3 days took the weight off so I don't mind 3 days vs. 2 days and prefer not to do 2 DDs back to back. I tend to think I'm just going to bounce up after not eating for 2 days rather than a regular eod kind of thing. I guess it's a YMMV kind of thing.

I think I too get a bit twitchy if I see a 3+ rise on the scales. But truthfully that too goes.

It is different for all of us I imagine. On occasion I know I have overdone it a bit and and expect the rise. Sometimes I am surprised. But the body has its own plan. I try not to let the numbers get me down.
