acronyms???

:dunno:Is there a place where various acronyms are posted? or could someone explain them? I can sometimes (maybe) figure out some, but others leave me baffled... :dunno:

Like what does UUAD stand for (Up, Up and Away Day????) - etc.

Thanks!

Not that I know of. But I'd be interested to know if there is somewhere. Each WOE seems to have their own lingo...

UUAD = Up, up and away day --> Got that one!
WOE = way of eating
UD = Up day
DD = Down day
EOD = Every other day
IF = Intermittent fasting
BMR = Basal metabolic rate
TDEE = Total daily energy expenditure
KWIM = Know what I mean
KUTGW = Keep up the good work
YMMV = Your mileage may vary
IIRC = If I recall correctly

Not sure if there are any specific ones you're wondering about...

These might already be apparent to you but I'll toss in some more:

HWC = heavy whipping cream (more like double cream for people in UK)
FF = fat free
SF = sugar free
AS = alternative sweetener (can also be appetite suppressant depending on context)
BB = bone broth
PS = potato starch
PH = potato hack
PDD = potato down day
PHD = perfect health diet (several JUDDDers do this approx. http://www.lowcarbfriends.com/bbs/ot...alth-june.html )
BTF = Ouizoid's famous Better Than Flour in recipes section of main LCF board http://www.lowcarbfriends.com/bbs/lo...h-recipes.html (renamed BTF from Fantastic Flour)
gluc = glucomannan
IYSWIM = if you see what I mean
NSV = non-scale victories (see the lovely thread for these)

Just looked through the BTF thread - wow! Never knew about that one either!

Stupid question but what does JUDDD mean? LOL

Yam-Yam 01-22-2014 04:12 PM

Johnson's Up Day Down Day Diet

Yam-Yam 01-22-2014 04:14 PM

He wrote the book "The Alternate Day Diet". And if you Google Dr. Johnson's Up Day Down Day Diet you will get to his website and the calorie calculator we all talk about.

Thanks for asking that question. I knew some, but could not figure out EOD. This will make reading the posts so much easier to understand.:shake:

DODO: Day On, Day Off (fasting, calorie cycling or carb cycling).

JUDDD BUDDs or DODOs: nickname for people on this forum who follow JUDDD, or some variation of intermittent fasting or schedule such as 4:3, 5:2 or 6:1 maintainers (referring to days in a 7 day cycle).

SlowSure 08-27-2014 09:34 AM

Back in the day of the JUDDD thread on the Other Plans board, instead of UUAD we called a day like that an UUD- Uber Up Day. The sentiment was the same. :laugh:

nonnie 09-13-2014 11:23 AM

COE? From Kwerp's post this morning on the weigh-in thread: "... the COE monster rears its ugly head." Something to do with carbs I think.
