I looked up the Sassy water, I wonder what I could put in there instead of cucumber... maybe sliced strawberries? I can't even stand the smell of cucumber.

Cindy, I almost mentioned that my husband asks to just omit the cucumber when we make it. He likes it so much better that way. The ginger is specifically to calm and soothe the digestive tract, and I think the mint has similar reasoning, but the reason for the cucumber and lemon seems to be the potassium, which offers natural diuretic qualities. My husband says he would rather just have plenty of lemon and not have to taste the cucumber in the water.

Lori, I hope you like your new workstation. My company recently put in adjustable height desks for us, so I now have the option to sit or stand. I love it! I probably spend about 1/2 my day standing up, and even just the act of standing encourages more movement. I think all companies should provide this option to office workers; sitting all day is *horrible* for you, even if you spend an hour at the gym after work.

What about alkaline water Whitlin, have you tried that? I guess the lemon make it that in a way.

On Monday I blew my first ever DD. I fasted till 7pm then had celery and my usual bedtime snack, but was still starving! That is so usual for me. I probably ate less than 600 calories, but that is about triple my norm. I really didn't stress it and had an UD yesterday. Today is my DD and while not hungry, I am very tired. I don't even want to be at work and I never feel that way. I have also spent 2 days having to dash to the bathroom every 20 minutes or so. I have one day like this every month, but never 2 in a row. So not sure what is going on.

Our bodies are strange beasts. I experienced hunger this afternoon for the first time in ages. I just chose to ignore it and it has gone now.

Weird.

Oh man don't get me started on arms!

Wish WW really worked for me!

Carly, it sounds like your electrolytes might be low from the potty troubles?? I would see how drinking a cup of bouillon (lots of sodium) helps you. My doc also said a pinch of NoSalt in your water helps too. I think you get 650mg of potassium in 1/4 tsp of NoSalt? It's great in lemon water! Hope you feel better soon!

Hi sweet ladies!!! It's THURSDAY!!! Holy moly does that excite me! Only 2 more days to the weekend! Yehaw!

When I first saw that commercial, it fooled me - I thought it started out boring and I almost ignored it, then suddenly it "blossomed" and I thought, wow, Broadway!

I can't hear that song, "Fever" without thinking of Richard Simmon's Sweatin' To The Oldies Two, video workout. Of all of his, that one was the best. My teen daughter remembers doing it with me sometimes and I got back from errands one day last week to find her doing it by herself, when she now has her choice of many sophisticated DVDs. She said, "You know, I just love him."

Hope you figure out the fluke, Carly.
_____________

Okay, cue the spooky music.....

I've had one of our mysterious (but positive) JUDDD experiences. I'm in maintenance, but still so appreciative.

I had gained 2 pounds, lost 2 pounds - quite normal for my swings.

But then the scale showed only .5 pound gain after the following UD.

I looked over my UD foods, which included a supper of barbecue chicken with beans, rice and Hot Fudge Sundae, and lunch of 2 (yes, 2) Sloppy Joes on buns, with veggie sticks. Breakfast had been a banana sandwich with hazelnut/chocolate spread. I also finished half my daughter's Lean Pocket when she wouldn't finish it. So where was it that I showed any restraint at all? And yet, JUDDD sends me a nearly-no-gain scale experience anyway. Yes, I double-checked. How pleasant is this mystery?

I just love it when you can have an out of control, or maybe better described as just barely controlled UD and have it shake up your body and make it lose or barely gain. JUDDD magic at its finest. WTG Whitlin'!

I hate being hungry on my UD. How can I manage hunger so well on DDs (for the most part), but unable to go more than a few hours without food on a UD? My body seems to be saying, "Alright, we'll starve for one day at a time. You're going to feed my azz today."

I am still getting comments from people, and it seems a little strange. These people see me every day, and I've s l o w l y lost 29 lbs over 9 months (2 months on LC). A guy (co-worker) asked me point-blank if I was "sick" today. He said you are losing so much weight, after I stared back at him and said, "What?!"

Cindy, I'd go ahead and agree with your body to have more frequent meals on UDs, just plan them. If a UD number was 1,800, for instance, give in and try 5 meals of 360 calories. When possible, let your body win some. I know that might spoil social hopes, such as eating without calorie counting at a restaurant, but if you feel well and in control, it might be worth it.

These folks can't all be wrong. Are you feeling that your clothes are looser? Something's changing visually.

LCG, thanks! Yes, I would call it barely controlled. LOL About 200 cals over. Not a UUAD, but a day that should have done me no favors.

It's extraordinary how different we are in our frames, experiences etc.

Hand on heart, I've shed approx 25lbs since the start of the year and not one person has noticed/commented. (I don't even think DH would notice if he weren't the one updating our weight record readings from time to time.)

I usually go to bed on a DD thinking of all the nice things I can eat the next day and then wake up fine not that hungry at all. However my friend is coffee it suppresses my appetite so i'll drink a cup to ward of the munchies when needed!

Well, SlowSure, you look marvelous to us, and 25's a great milestone.

You know, sometimes people are scared they will offend if they comment on weight at all. They're scared to comment to the opposite sex, for one thing, or worried they will touch a nerve and find out someone has been ill.

I usually blurt out congratulations and think later. I guess you might have to bring up the subject. Work it into the conversation! You deserve to hear people give you a compliment.

Friday........at last! Boot camp was brutal, as usual. So much running and my foot is not happy. I tried different insoles and shoes and that was a mistake. I should have brought my other ones along so I could change. Lesson learned.

Today is an "eating" day, but no big plans. I just had a low fat Greek yogurt & some nuts and I think I'll have a nice salad for lunch.

I'll be spending the weekend on the golf course. Can't wait! Hope you all enjoy whatever you're up to this weekend!

Good morning everybody. Still fairly new to the JUDDD so I have a question. I have been doing the regular rotation but being Friday I see dinner out coming my way and today is a DD. So my question is do you benefit more from a MD then two UD in a row? I still am leary and not quite understanding the whole concept of eating 2 UD and how that is better than two DD. I was just thinking I could probably fast till dinner but just wasnt sure what would be best.

I work with a lot of people with whom I come in contact daily, and altough a few are commenting as if they just noticed, others have not said a word. Trust me, they do notice.

Sherri, two DDs may be okay, OR they could cause you to experience a feeling of deprivation that would be a negative influence on sticking to plan. In his book, Dr. Johnson advises a UD and MD combination over two days, or two UDs. The reason I avoid two UDs is simply that I think it would be harder to compensate for those additional calories. But, it wouldn't be insurmountable or anything - it's all good. No matter which type of day you have today, you continue to be a successful JUDDDer!

I'm used to knowing what my MD calories are and just eating up to my calories like any other day. I've done so many MDs they are like second nature to me, because I have one per weekend, either on Saturday or Sunday, depending upon any particular circumstances I have. (usually Sat, so Sunday's UD fuels me well for Mon.)

Lori, have a great time on the course.

Hi tskb, based on my experience, it totally makes sense to me why 2 UDs would be better than 2 DDs. I got myself in a lot of trouble a few months ago by not eating enough and my body adjusted very quickly to the calorie deficit by lowering my metabolism. I would lower the calories more and more just to lose something (there was a lot of cardio involved too). So perhaps he is concerned that even with 2 DDs in a row, that would signal to the body to lower the metabolism. And we don't want that! Whereas 2 MDs or 2 UDs would just maintain, no harm done. That's how I interpret that, but perhaps the doc has other reasons.

Thanks ladies that makes total sense when you spell it out like that. I guess I will plan on a MD and if it turns into an UD then no harm right?

That's right tskb. Or you could simply go up to 35% and plan a pretty nice dinner, and it would still be a DD.

Yes, there are so many options! A 2nd UD, a MD, or just a higher % DD! No worries whatever you decide, just pick up again tomorrow.

Hello everyone! I haven't posted in a while but I still follow JUDDD. I usually read the threads daily and cheer from the sidelines for all of you old and new Juddd buds. I tried the 5:2 WOE and the 4:3 WOE to maintain but I found myself in trouble with two or more Up days in a row. When I would finally have a down day, it would be like starting JUDDD all over again. I decided to stick with EOD rotations since my body likes routine, I guess.
