Yes, that's correct, pretty amazing huh! I have tried to be more active as well, doing a 10 mile walk each weekend and trying to walk each day as well - i'm having a walking holiday with younger fitter friends in September, we'll be walking 10 to 12 miles a day for 5 to 6 weeks

There have been one or two UUADs on an UD in the last 5 weeks but i've stuck strictly to the DD cals

Fantastic, Zipp!

That is one of my dream vacations- a walking tour. I would love to explore England that way. My Honey is strictly a biker, though. I tell him he can bike the route, scout out lodgings, and circle back to bring me lunch!

Congrats Zipp! You turned the corner and are almost half way down the street!

I love turning corners and am hoping to Thursday (fingers crossed) because it's been over 20 years since I set foot on it lol.

I'm meeting up with my friend from the States in mid-September in Saint Jean Pied de Port in France and we are going to walk one of the ancient pilgrim routes which runs up over the Pyrenees and across northern Spain to Santiago de Compostela. This particular route is called the Camino Frances.

There was a film a little while ago which you may, or may not, have seen called The Way which starred Martin Sheen which is about the Camino.

I first heard about the walk 5 years ago when i worked in Canada and one of my volunteer helpers had been and walked one of the routes and was looking forward to going back to walk a different route (all the routes lead to Santiago de Compostela).

We have to carry everything with us that we need in our backpacks and we will stay in hostels along the route which vary in price from donations to about 15 euros per person per night.

We haven't set ourselves an end date as we didn't want to pressurise ourselves too much but we think it will take us around 6 weeks and we'll hopefully become fitter as we walk.

I would like to lose another 14 to 20 pounds by mid-September as the less body weight i'm carrying the better it will be for my knees! (I was going to say the more i can put in my backpack lol!)

Wow, I'm so impressed with your walking tour plans. I wouldn't even think of doing anything like that, although it sounds amazing. I'll bet you will be fitter as you go along, and you're gonna have the most amazing firm legs!

Oh Man, Evie, the walking trip sounds like a "dream come true" to me! I'm not too sure about carrying a "back pack" though! I walk around "water holes" (in parks) at every couple of miles so that I don't have to carry a water bottle with me! This 10 mile hikes you do, is it in a hilly area? Your photo reminded me of Northern Ireland (Portrush) and Rancho Palos Verdes (California) as I used to hike/roam around the cliffs in both of these places!

Where i live is on the Atlantic and it's fairly flat here on the west side of the island, it's very boggy and difficult to get to the hills on the east side of the island. I should get some hill practice in before i go though as i have a short contract from the end of July to mid-September in Gibraltar which is very steep and hilly!

Re. the backpack it's recommended that you don't carry more than 10% of your body weight - so for me that's decreasing as the weeks go by

FairyWren, your trip sounds fabulous! I would love to take a backpacking trip like that after I build up my endurance. You've actually inspired me to come up with a reward idea for becoming more fit.

Look at you SRNbelle, in a new decade! Way to go!!!!!!!!

Wren - Before you know it, you won't be able to put much in your back pack? Will you be eating along the way or do you have to pack those provisions too? Toiletries and such?

I believe there are plenty of places to eat along the way - cafes, bars, restaurants. Some of the hostels provide an evening meal, some have a kitchen so that you can fix your own. We'll probably vary what we do. I'll probably carry "emergency rations" in my backpack in case i need an energy boost, so things like dried fruit/fruit/nuts.

Yes, i'll carry a limited number of toiletries e.g. shampoo, deodrant, toothpaste and something to wash my clothes in - don't want to get too whiffy

Oh and guess what? At a place called Irache there is a fountain where you can get wine! And it's free!!

I'm at the staying about the same stage of my weighing. That's fine with me. I am starting to really appreciate maintaining. Her are the numbers:

195.0 3/30
191.0 4/7
191.0 4/13
190.0 4/21
188.0 4/27
184.5 5/5
184.0 5/12
184.5 5/19
185.0 5/25
185.0 6/4
181.5 6/8
181.5 6/16

Next weekend I will be away (and living it up) so I will not post on the Monday afterwards, but will give myself the week to stabilize( and maybe even go down). Good luck to y'all. I'm anxious to see your numbers. Great job with the 6 pounds, Meggen.
