Well TOM has decided to start coming every other week, along with horrible symptoms and the usual 3-5 pound weight gain. This has become unbearable for me, so I'm going to either go back on the bcp or try progesterone creams to regulate it. Not thinking about weight loss right now since the water weight and inflammation gain are so out of my control.
Ack, that is awful! Mine has been so regular for many years, and this month it came after 3 weeks, so I hope I'm not headed down that road too. The past 3 months I've also had much larger pre-TOM/TOM bounces up, so not sure what's going on, other than normal for my age stuff. I'm sorry you're having to go through this.

I'm having similar large bounces around TOM Rhonda. I don't like it!

June 2 133.8lbs (y'day MD)

Pretty stiff from Saturday (kayaking closed with an extended self-rescue practice thus we were tasking some large muscles, in cold water, on a fairly chilly day) so I think that adds to the general inflammation at present.
You just can't get a break with everything going on with your body. You're doing fantastic to be maintaining steadily with all that going on, so total victory!

I only record DD numbers. The UD bounces make me crazy and I guess if I don't record them they are not 'real' even if I do sneek a peek at my weight. That's the way my brain works...a scary place indeed!

6/1 149.6 June here we go!
6/3 151 Ugh! My UD was over by almost 500 cals so I shouldn't be surprised that I gained 3lbs and I only lost half of it on my DD.

I am so disappointed this morning. I had a good (higher) DD yesterday, had a lot of "output" IYKWIM (sorry) and was just sure I'd be down a couple of pounds this morning. Instead, I'm up a couple. So I measured, thinking at least I will have lost some inches in the last month. Nope, I lost in a couple of places and slightly increased in a couple. I just don't know what to do. I think maybe I'm panicking. TOM just finished up yesterday, so maybe it's leftover from that. But I'm wondering whether to go back to my calculated calories, or do JUDDD with LC, or just switch to LC for a few weeks. Today, I'll just have a normal UD and see what the scale says tomorrow.
It sounds like we're in much the same place, LCG. I had a good DD yesterday too, and lots of output. However, I weighed last night and *knew* there was no way I would go down any lower than I did this morning. In fact, I was surprised I went down that much. I'm thinking of doing LC too.

Well, thank you. I hadn't thought of it that way so I do feel a bit better.

I so nearly refused to go in because I just couldn't bear the idea with everything else that was going on But, there were several children who needed to do their sprayskirt tests (you need to demonstrate that you can rescue yourself from a kayak capsize, even with a sprayskirt in position - that's the bit that keeps you dry but could, potentially, trap you in an upside-down kayak if you don't release it) and there were no other women.

So, I gritted my teeth, did a capsize and self-rescue and then stayed in the water in case any of the children panicked when upside down.

It could have been worse but the water was less than 10C in temperature so perhaps I shouldn't be too surprised at how stiff I am.

Thanks LCG. Do you have PCOS? I had recently started to get mine every 3 weeks (for about 4-5 cycles). It wasn't until this week that it started to be every 2 weeks. But hopefully you're not headed down this road either way!

I don't have PCOS (thank god). I know this could be the beginning of peri-menopause. It could also be just the large amount I've lost. I think years and years ago, when I was gaining and hit right around this weight, I lost my periods altogether for several months. So maybe this is a weird weight change thing. I'm hoping anyway. I used to be on BC that keeps you on an every 3 month cycle and it was WONDERFUL! I really don't want to be on BC at my age anymore, so quit it a few years ago, and have had enough grumbles getting it every 4 weeks. It better not get more often now!

I would love it if this was just a result of weight loss! But my fear is that I'm going through early menopause. I'm only 33, and I do want to have children so that's a really scary thought. I know there's nothing I can do about it though.

I hope yours regulates itself!

Thanks, Sherri! My numbers were very uninspiring this Spring even though I was on plan. I only increased DD calories mid-May because I didn't know what else to do, and I thought my body needed a rest from weight loss. Although I really stayed mostly at the 35% level (still in weight loss range), once I raised DD calories the pounds unexpectedly started coming off faster. Weird, right? (I did lose a lot on 20%, but then just started slowing down for no apparent reason). Hoping it keeps up because I can keep calm for a few days with the scale being unfriendly, but weeks or months gets hard! We'll see what happens ...

Please don't panic LCG. I think waiting to see what the scale says tomorrow is a good plan. It is so disappointing when you feel like the scale is going to tell you something good, and it doesn't at all! (By the way, every morning in my head I sing "Tell Me Something Good" before I get on the scale ). Those days are when we need the kick-the-scale icon! But you know there's some anomalies that just happen, no one knows why.

It's so frustrating! We're working so hard, we should get some return. I hope we both have a much better June, loss-wise.

Thank you for that Christina. I guess I've gotten spoiled by regular losses each month. I think I may be ready to go back to normal calculated calories and see what happens.

I do too!! Every month at the beginning, I have such high hopes for a great month of loss, and then end it with my tail between my legs. I sure hope June is a much better month than most of the ones this year so far.

I'm continuing my maintenance break (started May 25). My goals for this month are to maintain and to introduce back some exercise such as cycling.

Previous low (May 25) 133lbs

June 1 135lbs (y'day DD)

June 2 133.8lbs (y'day MD)
June 3 134.8lbs (y'day UD)
June 4 134.8lbs (y'day DD 400kcals)

I'm so stiff that every movement is difficult. If I had any other symptoms, or broken skin, I'd be wondering if I'd picked up something from the water immersion on Saturday. As LCG helpfully reminded me, this just adds to the general inflammation at present so 'meh' to the weight remaining the same.

Best wishes to all those who today and my respect to those who don't see what they want nor what they should theoretically expect but persevere/come up with a sensible strategy.

I think you're all doing great, with brilliant attitudes and determination to make the plan work.

Don't let a number on a scale freak you out. JUDDD loss is not linear and often seems to defy logic!

My sympathies to the waterlogged and those in hormone hell - remember it's a temporary phase.

Goals: to get back to 124 and maintain under 127.

I am hoping it's just a bounce and the higher DDs will be back to working a downward trend for you soon!
