Maybe the cheese soothed the inflammation.
Wonderful news, and hopefully that inflammation is OUTTA here!!

Here's how my crazy brain works. I have a clear scale. It sits on tile. I have it lined up so that the four corners of the tiles beneath it are in the exact center of the scale. I can NOT weigh myself if it's moved, even a tiny bit. DH never used to weigh himself, so it wasn't an issue. Now that he's weighing regularly, I have to readjust it if he bumps it or whatever. And, I ALWAYS weigh twice. And, I ALWAYS exhale really forcefully before I weigh. That air weighs something, right?! I also always take my second weight, whether it's higher or lower than the first.

Yes, I'm certifiable.

I always weigh myself 3-4 times and use the "majority rules" approach. Glad to know that I am not the only certifiable one

Padded room for two then. My scale isn't clear but I have to pull it out from the wall in order to weigh, and it has to sit exactly in the middle of this one tile, all corners matching up. AND I also blow out forcefully before I weigh, nekkid, with the scrunchy I wear in my hair to sleep pulled out, because air and scrunchies weigh something! That's not normal?

Oh, yes! Completely nekkid here too. I even take my glasses off. Thank goodness my vision isn't too bad and I can see the numbers. Oh, and I weigh before I've even had a sip of water.

I do the same scale dance every morning. I first step on it with one leg to zero it out and then step on with both feet. Lately the scale blinks different numbers and then finally settles down. It drives me crazy. My old scale (Tanita) used to do this and then stopped working. Maybe I need new batteries. I always use potty before and I am completely naked. I make sure I don't have any heavy hair clips on. If I get up during the night, I don't drink any water because I don't want the scale to show higher number. Crazy

Me, too!

I'm trying to weigh only once a week, but peek in here every few days. Amazing how the mere task of weighing oneself is an exercise in hilarious machinations at getting that Metal Monster to cooperate with our desires.

Aside from getting naked and pottying first, I pray like crazy!

Crazy
Is Tanita the brand, or did you name your scale? Not that I'd think you were crazy for naming your scale. It's actually a brilliant idea, what better way to yell at it when it says things you don't like?

DH's GPS is named Sandy (think Sandy Beach, and what Beach sort of sounds like) so we can yell at her when she gets us off track.

I have my GPS set with a male voice and I call him Richard. I call him by his nickname when he steers me wrong.

Scales are evil! It's JUST a number and it will go down quickly again. Hang tight, you got this!!!

No worries, you're doing great! The scale will come around! It's slow going once you're close to goal!!
Thanks for the encouragement! I needed to hear that today

I'm continuing my maintenance break (started May 25). My goals for this month are to maintain and to introduce back some exercise such as cycling.

June 12: Well, I need to revise my goals. I can stay in maintenance but the kayaking injury means the cycling won't happen. So, I need a new plan. June 27 - I'm running out of June and still don't have a plan. Sigh.

Previous low (June 20) 130.2lbs

June 1 135lbs (y'day DD)

June 2 133.8lbs (y'day MD)
June 3 134.8lbs (y'day UD)
June 4 134.8lbs (y'day DD 400kcals)
June 5 133.8lbs (y'day UD 1600kcals)
June 6 133.6lbs (y'day DD approx. 550kcals)
June 7 133.0lbs (y'day UD approx. 1500kcals)
June 8 131.6lbs (y'day DD approx 450kcals) new low

June 9 DNW kayak mishap yesterday
June 10 DNW
June 11 132lbs
June 12 133lbs (y'day UD)
June 13 132.8lbs (y'day DD)
June 14 131.8lbs (y'day UD more like a MD)
June 15 131.6lbs (y'day DD) tiny new low

June 16 131.4lbs (y'day UD) tiny new low
June 17 131.8lbs (y'day MD)
June 18 131.6lbs (y'day DD)
June 19 130.6lbs (y'day UD)
June 20 130.2lbs (y'day DD) new low
June 21 130.2lbs (y'day UD)
June 22 130.2lbs (y'day DD)

June 23 DNW (y'day UD) Canoeing - very stiff
June 24 133lbs (y'day MD)
June 25 131.6lbs (y'day DD)
June 26 130.6lbs (y'day UD)
June 27 130.2lbs (y'day DD)

An uncanny re-run of last week in progress here. We'll see. I'm sticking with maintenance although I've now been on it for >30 days and I don't have a plan for body recomposition or adding back the exercise (under the circumstances).

Best wishes to all those who today and my respect to those who don't see what they want nor what they should theoretically expect but persevere/come up with a sensible strategy.

Too right - cheese and cappuccino all the way.

Have you re-distributed at all? Ntombi has commented several times that she spent 12 weeks or more with the scale refusing to budge but she lost a fair number of inches.

It will most definitely pass. If you genuinely ate >10,000kcals in one UD then I applaud your stamina, but I have my doubts that this happened. So, remember the Universal Laws of Dieting according to SoHappy: "All gains are water, all losses are fat".

Down 6.8 lbs.
You will keep this up and definitely not only be able to wear a bathing suit but be confident that both you and the suit are being displayed to your mutual advantage.

You just persist in pushing those numbers down, don't you. It bounces but 5lb is remarkable (to me). Well persevered and all that.

Such discipline. I'm so impressed. And I'd say that you're solidly in the 140s so you've well and truly met your June goal.

There's a super photograph of a woman at 127 and 136lbs on the Suppversity blog which you might be able to see if you Google
suppversity erika rice lean fat mass
and scroll down to the photograph which is image 5. The woman gained 9lbs but looks so much slimmer and more toned. The blog author uses this to make an argument that when you are homing in on your goal, you may need to select the shape that you want and work towards that and make the scales a distant secondary concern. I'm thinking about this quite a lot.

Deedee, I'm a graduate of the scale-dancing academy too. Suitably divested of anything upwardly weight-influencing (of course!) I always weigh twice and if the second reading is the same, I'll take it. If not, I'll weigh again and if it's up, I'll do the scale dance around the bathroom till I get two more consecutive lows - or till I can't argue with the darned scales any longer!
I hadn't thought of giving it a name so I could shout at it. Dawn, the GPS ones - genius!

Another New Low, Scarlett. Impressive shifting of the vacation weight.

Rose, you didn't eat 12,500 calories on Tuesday. It's water - will definitely pass.

MrsAndi, you're doing exemplary rotations. It's bound to be happening, even if the scales refuse to co-operate at the moment.

New Low Debbie. The bathing suit's a cert!

Looking good Melinda. Kudos for those mega-low DDs!

Yay Marika!

Vicki, you lost weight on vacation?? You should publish a willpower manual!!

Impressive whoosh, Mike!

First, to stay under 130 throughout my birthday celebrations. Came close!
