For those who wait until evening to eat on DD...

I am doing 4:3 and want to try waiting to eat as long as possible on my down day today but I have to have my coffee (or I'll get a horrid headache!). My problem is that I cannot drink black coffee. On my down days, I usually use low fat half and half (25 calories for 2T). Do you think having 2-4T in the morning with my coffee will negatively affect my waiting until the early evening to eat my first food? I want to try to take advantage of the 24 hour fast but don't want to mess it up with the half and half.

I switch to tea only on DDs during my weightloss for that reason. In maintenance I reintroduced a cup or 2 of coffee on DD into my 300 calories, but didn't do it during WLM.

I think this is what's been keeping me from having very low DD's. I tried skipping my coffee for the first time this past week, and having tea instead, and I had my first DD with under 150 calories. It wasn't particularly fun, but I want losses like Carly's so I think it's worth it!

I tried just having tea once instead of coffee and I still got a KILLER headache around 11am. It's amazing that my body is SO sensitive to the caffeine even though I only have 1 cup of coffee a day.

I know my tea had caffeine in it too but it must not be as much.

You can always slowly scale back the cream on dd' s. I like flavored creamers and slowly cut mine back to where I was drinking black coffee on down days in the mornings.

I am not a big tea drinker either.

try a no-doz tablet instead. I am extremely sensitive to coffee without milk or cream--it gives me terrible stomach pain. while THEORETICALLY that should be from the caffeine, I find no-doz does not do the same thing, so it must be the caffeine in connection with all the other acids and things in the coffee.

There are some who believe that the pure fat of the creamer, since it doesn't cause an insulin release, are not recognized by the body as breaking the fast. Many here use HWC in their coffee in the morning & don't necessarily consider the fast broken from that. YMMV.

I drink one 12oz. coffee every morning! I like the extra punch, so I add a sugar free swiss mocha to my coffee(I know, double shot!! ) I do this on DD's & UD's. It never affected my weight loss. I still wait as long as I can on DD's to eat. So, yennie is right.......YMMV. Good luck!

I drink a large, probably 12 oz mug of coffee with 1 or 2 T of HWC every morning, DD or UD. Right now I'm on a maintenance break and eating something light for lunch, but for month of successful losing I would mostly skip DD lunch and eat only dinner. The cream seems to keep me satisfied most of the day, whereas if I ate even just a tiny bit of actual food, I would be hungry all day.

I have always been a cream or HNH coffee drinker. I still have those on UD's. I have never used sugar or a substitute, just cream.

Since starting JUDDD, I have transitioned to using SF syrup on DDs in my morning coffee. I sure don't want to expend DD calories on beverages. The SF syrup adds no calories but it is much preferrable to black. It's different, but it saves those few calories for other items later in the day when they can be used for FOOD.

I don't see how 20-25kcals would disrupt your DD fast. If you're very apprehensive about it, is unsweetened almond milk out of the question (that would be <5kcals)?

I drink 2 (large) cups of coffee every morning ... Each with a half ounce of regular half and half, and a packet of Splenda ... Then a third cup late afternoon ... UDs and DDs ... Doesn't seem to affect my weight.

Tried going the "black" route - ugh!

I drink my coffee with french vanilla creamer. Won't give up my coffee, and won't drink it black. Period. I usually add my 3 cups (morning, afternoon snack, and after dinner "dessert") to my calorie counter first, and then decide on my food with the remaining available calories. And for me, the coffee in the morning definitely helps with morning hunger.

Black coffee makes me gag.

It's too bad I like a LOT of creamer in my coffee. When I was honest with myself about how much, I realized it was pretty much my whole days worth of calories in a cup or two.

Tried the almond milk today, and it was almost as bad as having nothing in there.

I've tried many different replacements for HWC and none satisfy me - my tastebuds or my appetite - like good ol' HWC w/a couple of drops of liquid sucralose. I won't give it up, UD or DD.

thanks - I like half and half in my coffee, though I sometimes add a squirt of whipped cream (sweetened with splenda, of course!) ...
