Dawn, I am so happy for the update on your Dad & that he has seemingly turned the corner! Rubik's cube, huh? My son loved doing that when he was about 12 & was good at it! I could only watch in amazement!

I am glad that you are back home with your family & I know that they are happy to have you back! I am still at the hospital with my Mother & still not sure when she will go home. But, she is doing so much better!

Wonderful news Dawn! I'm so happy to hear it. I'm sure your being there was only a good thing for him.

Carly, how cool about your grandfather! I hope he made a lot of money on that. The only way I ever solved it (when it came out and I was in high school) was to pop the pieces off and put them back on in the right order. Hey, it may not have been as intended, but showed at least a little "thinking outside the box" so to speak.

Shari, I'll continue to send prayers for your mother and your family. So hard to see anyone you love not be well.

My grandfather was a designer (high level executive) for the Ideal toy company, so I think he did well for himself and my grandmother, who now lives in a lovely independent living community in Florida. She is one of the youngest residents at age 87!

Too cute. I just went to the site and it actually has voodoo doll donuts on the main page. I think I would be too scared to eat them!

My niece got the voodoo doll donut. It was really cool with a pretzel stake through it's heart and jelly filled, so when she bit into it, it looked like it was bleeding.

They have maple bars with bacon strips on them.

I got the Memphis Mafia, a banana fritter with peanut butter and chocolate.

It's a really cute place.

Update on mi padre: He is still doing well, but has pneumonia, so they haven't been able to do the angiogram yet. Just waiting to see what happens.

I like how you worked mafia and padre together. Wait, I'm not sure padre is Italian.

Thanks for the update, and I hope he recovers against all odds! I'm sure it's been an emotional whirlwind for you.

Thanks Cindy.

Nothing really new, except he's been moved out of the cardiac ICU. They're hoping to do the angiogram today, but I'm not holding my breath. He's been able to get out of bed and shower, and is getting antsy to go home. It's now been about a week and a half, and the man never slows down, so he's not happy to be on forced rest, but he is happy to have survived.

They did the angiogram today after all. He needs a triple bypass. They're citing diet and lifestyle, which I find hilarious, since he is the most active person in my family and doesn't drink or eat a bunch of garbage. I told DH that just means I need to consume MORE wine. It's good for the heart, right?!

Wine...yes. Diet and lifestyle....did they even bother to ask what his was, or is that what they always say to everyone who has a heart attack? Sheesh! Well at least you all know where he stands, and the surgery will help him have a longer life once he's recovered. To think, a mere week or so ago they didn't even think he'd make it. More on their way.

He did smoke a couple packs a day for 40 years. He quite a long time ago, though, and just retired. I think it was the stress of moving to another state, and not wanting to unpack boxes. He'd do anything to get out of that!

He was scheduled for 7:00 a.m., was not wheeled into the OR until around 8:30, and was returned to ICU at around 2:30. Wow, that's a long surgery! So far, so good, but he's not out from under sedation yet. Thanks for your prayers!

Dawn, I tiptoe in and out of this forum, and just popped in to check on things. My dad had the same surgery just over a year ago. He's stubborn and won't change his eating habits, but overall he's doing pretty good.

Prayers for you, your family, and your dad's healing.
