WOE: Moderate Carb JUDDD (Lost first 4 lbs on WW)
Start Date: 7/4/2012 -- 42 lbs lost total
45 weeks on JUDDD -- Frustrated

This week I weighed in at 250 lbs for a gain of 1 lb this week, a total of 40 lbs lost, 36 of them on JUDDD.

So this week I finally got down to business. I got right back into rotations. I ate nothing but potatoes so that I wouldn't go over my calorie limits on my up days. And this was my reward.

It's like the anti-JUDDD magic. And now I'm back at 250 again.

Low Points

This morning. Melt down at the scale. Didn't wanna report in.

High Points

Perspective. There have been many moments on this diet where I've totally messed up, fallen into a box of cookies, and still lost weight. I guess it only makes sense in terms of karmic balance that good behavior will sometimes not see the results I want.

I don't know what to say, but hopefully next week you will see a huge reward for all of your hard work.

Oh steph, that's so frustrating! But I agree, it's probably going to take a week for your hard work to show up on the scale. Just hang in there!

So sorry you have been cheated this week. Stay the course and the rewards will come eventually. Not nearly as fast or as linear as we would all like but they WILL come!!

I'll be the one to come in and be boring.

Remember, now would be the time of year (in our hemisphere) when additional liquids are needed to avoid the start of dehydration. So make sure lack of water isn't in your way, holding you back from releasing some weight.

(boring, boring, boring)

Stalls take time. They run their silly little courses. They are mischievous.

Sorry about the meltdown. BTDT

I'm sorry to read about your frustration and I don't have any words of wisdom since I am fairly new at this. Looking forward to reading next week's update and the loss that is sure to come!

Also, potatoes don't work for everyone. I'm not sure if you meant you did potatoes ALL WEEK or not. I did one day--didn't gain, but have no desire to repeat that experiment.

Hi, Steph -- I am curious what your experience in the past has been with the potato hack? I am one of those people, as Keirasmom mentioned, for whom the potatoes just don't 'sit well'. Tends to be the folks with blood sugar issues, a lot of times -- it was only one day, I think I lost a fraction of a pound and felt an unholy combination of dizziness, barfing and passing-out for most of that day. So not worth it. I'm going to be boring too and say that I'm sure this is just your body adjusting -- keep at it, you will see losses, etc... I need to give myself my own advice since I, too, am a very slow loser.

Darn these stalls! They're so frustrating! I keep having to remind myself that when I lost almost 100 pounds over a decade ago, that I had a months-long stall at about the midpoint of my losses. Somehow, I kept at it (then it was LC) and eventually started losing again. I'm not sure how I kept so diligent back then. As much as it frustrates us, sometimes our body just takes over and tries to stabilize as it sees fit. I guess it knows best, but I wanna keep losing dammit!

I so feel your frustration. Hang in there, and it WILL happen for you. Throwing in the towel only means the scale numbers going back up. I hope you feel like I do - that is just NOT an option.

Steph,
I suspect you're right. It works, but not always linearly. Just another hurdle for the heroine. You are inspiring, woman.

Steph, JUDDD results are definitely weird rather than linear. You will get your reward - you've earned a visit from the Whoosh Fairy - but punctuality isn't her strong point.

Maybe potatoes won't do it for you - they didn't work for me. I'm concerned that you're depriving yourself on DDs and UDs - unless you're passionately fond of potatoes. There has to be an enjoyable way to win at this.

I hope the Whoosh Fairy gets on top of her schedule very soon.

I'm sorry you're frustrated. Congrats on sticking with the PH though. I could not do more than one day, and it was a DD. I applaud those of you who give up UDs to do the PH. I'm sure you will see the (good) results of your clean eating on the scale soon.

The potato hack wasn't good for me either. I lost, but would rather have been dead by the end of the second day.
I'm dialing the whoosh fairy and sending her your way.

Why can't it be linear?! It would be so nice to always understand exactly what is happening. For example, there is no explanation for what happened with LCG, but good to know that whatever it was went away (thanks for writing about that LCG! It was actually very encouraging to know that you had that stall for no reason and then the weight loss picked up again).

It's extremely frustrating Steph, but you've come so far, and there's more places yet to go, I know it. Do not be freaked by the number. It's just a bounce, nothing more. On JUDDD, as long as you keep going, what goes up, must come down.
