What do you do after a big "oops" day?
Yesterday was my DD, and I did great until DH said "let's go have a drink." So, we went, and we ended up staying longer as he ended up going to the meeting they held there (American Legion), which left me sitting at the bar longer than I should have. When we finally did get home, I was so ravenous that I caved with some pizza.
Now, today should be an UD, and I should switch to a DD since I screwed up yesterday, but I don't want to screw up my rotation as I have Mother's Day and niece's graduation, which both fall on up days right now and don't want that messed up. Should I just carry on with my UD and just live with whatever damage I did or make it a MD or have 2 DD in a row? I jumped on the scale this morning to see the damage I did, and I was at a new low of 231.5 - lol! I guess the bounce hasn't hit yet - think I'll stay off the scale for a few days and hopefully let that settle in.

If you want your rotations to stay the same just have your UD and take what you can learn from yesterday moving forward. JUDDD is forgiving if those kind of days only happen occasionally.

IMO, have your normal UD. With JUDDD, we are only "dieting" one day at a time. So enjoy your UD and send DH to the Legion by himself in the future on DD's
Or driving seperate could be an option as well. That way you can proudly go home and not be forced into a situation. Have a fabulous day! |

I've only just started JUDDD today, but from experience with other diet plan, my opinion is it's best to just write off that day and carry on the following on whatever plan you are on, almost like it didn't happen.
Sometimes I have tried to reduce calories or do extra exercise to work off the additional cals and end up messing up my routine which throws me out for even longer. |

HI Nanner
I went a bit over in my DD also. Instead of my 520 planned, I went abuot 800. WAY TOO high to be considered a down day. I WAS JUST thinking the same thing.....lol...should I do another down day or be super careful on this UP day? after reading these posts, I will do a UP day and stay in my rotation and be super careful today on eating clean. Depending on HOW much pizza you had, you might not get much of a bounce back. You might come out ok on this one!

I would dust off and follow your rotation plan with an up day today.
Trigger, 800c is not enough to then follow it up by a DD. Glad you plan to do an UD today. 800c really isn't all that horribly, scrap it all DD number. |

thanks zipp. I was wondering about that. 800 I thought was high and thought about scraping it as a ruined down day. Good to know.

Great insights Stardust! One gift JUDDD has given me is that I've stopped doing the "Oh no I've blown it!" thing, with all that then leads to. As long as you don't do it too often, especially at first, JUDDD forgives. Don't panic is a good motto for JUDDDers! ![]() |

I feel bad because this was my first 2 weeks of JUDDD, but I've now been "dieting" for almost 2 months, and this is really my first big slip-up. I've had a couple of chips here and there when I wasn't supposed to but nothing as big as this, so I'm not going to beat myself up over it. I've been to the bar many times and come home and not eaten without a problem (goodness - I sound like an alcoholic but truth is I work there every Friday and Saturday night calling bingo

I had three Up Days in a row just recently, but they were REAL Up Days. You may not have eaten enough for it to be an Up Day. In the book, Dr. Johnson says some people did Down Days of 35-40% and still lost weight. So, though I wouldn't make a habit of it, I would just call that a Slow Down Day, and continue on with your rotation.
If you are interested, after my three-in-a-row, I went up 3 pounds, and was back down after two rotations. The best thing I got from the experience was feeling how easy it was to get back to my Down Days. I think JUDDD plays to one of my strengths- I'm great at starting over! And since with JUDDD, you basically start over every other day, well...! |

Please don't worry about "blowing" a DD like that. 800 calories is still low. BESIDES, I have had a bunch of regular UDs in a row on vaca now, gained 6#, I believe, and it was gone after 2 rotations when I got home. Juddd is amazing! No guilt please! Just move along with your UD.

I agree with all that has been said. If you haven't done this yet, go to the JUDDD calculator and play with the different percentages that are still in the weight loss range. Even if you are trying to maximize your losses by staying at the 20% or less range most of the time, an occasional higher percentage can still be a down day.

And you'll probably still have the essential 1000 calorie difference between yesterday's high DD and today's UD.

You guys were so right!! It took 2 more rotations to see a loss - went from 231 the day after the oops to 236.5 then 234.5 then didn't weigh because discouraged and waited until after my 2nd down day after the oops, and I'm at a new low of 229.5! I'm very happy with that!

Ughggghhh, I seem to be screwing up left and right since I've been home from vacation, so I totally relate. My DD's have ended up as MD's -- with only one really good one in since vacation. I don't know what it is (maybe TOM) -- I just seem to be craving everything. My last two DD's have been between 700-800 c. -- not low enough, obviously. I did get weighed at the Doctor today, though -- and I'm not only 3lbs above pre-vacation weight (which I guess is good considering I've only had one "good" rotation.) Struggling to stay in the saddle, here. :/
