100lb Club

Hi JUDDD BUDDD's

I wanted to start a thread for those of us who want to loose 100lbs or more. I love all the great advice everyone gives on this board, and it's so interesting to read through everyone's experience with this. But, I thought it would be good to get a thread going for those of us with a...um... longer road ahead than others. :D

I think my first goal is just deciding what I want my goal to be. I really am more focused on mini-goals. Not so much because the real goal (of being skinny and fabulous) is so far off, but, because in the past I've had difficulties even reaching my mini goals. So, here's what I've sort of come up with (for now)

300lbs because up until a year and a half ago I have NEVER been in the 3's and I let a year take me out of control.

285lbs because I remember that weight. It was about 5 years ago, and it's a very heavy weight, but I remember that at that weight I didn't have all the health and medical complications that I have now. I felt good and my body "moved" like a normal persons.

245lbs. This is what I was when I graduated law school. I thought I was the heaviest I would ever be and swore I wouldn't hit that 250 marker. Don't ask me when I did, because I didn't weigh between that 245 and 285.

220lbs. This is my weight when I got married. It was 20lbs thinner than I was when I got engaged and I remember how hard I worked to loose that 20lbs (and what a difference 20lbs makes when your in the 200's as opposed to the 300's). Yes, still big. But this was a good weight for me. I liked who I was at this weight. And, at this weight, the dreaded airplane seat belt (if you've read any of my other posts) fit me. I was a good 16/18 at this weight and I was ok with that. This is about 100lbs from now, so in the near term, I would say this is my goal weight.

199lbs - need I say more

175lbs - This was a great weight for me. Im always going to be a fuller size, and I'm ok with that, and I carry my weight evenly and well, so I like this size. I was a size 10 here. Of course I was in college the last time I weighed this. But, I'm not that far removed now. It seems so crazy to me, but I think I can do it.

135lbs - Is this even a possibility. This would be a 200lb loss for me and a weight I haven't seen since I was 16. I can't even comprehend this, and there is actually some real fear that comes to mind when I think about this weight. Strange.

Sometimes I get stuck on how far I have to go that it seems so dubious to me that I will ever get there. And then I have to wedge myself barely into an airplane seat or a stadium seat and I instantly remember why I HAVE to do this. How do you cope with the long road ahead?

Kimmietoo 05-01-2013 09:04 AM

Andy, what a great idea! I love the mini goals that you have set. You've given them a great deal of thought and it shows. No doubt, reaching our mini goals can help keep us motivated. You've given me the encouragement that I need to do some of my own! (Many of them are very similar to yours, my friend!)

For me personally, one of the biggest attractors with JUDDD is that we literally are only dieting one day at a time. Since I have such a large amount of weight to lose, on other diets or eating programs, the time required to stick to dedicated adherence made them essentially impossible to stick with over the long haul.

This program is truly a lifestyle. Our successful losers (big and small alike) still use IF to keep off the weight and enjoy the other health benefits obtained from Sirtuin activation. So in the greatest sense, it doesn't matter if we have 15 pounds or 150 pounds to lose....we'll just use IF to lose it and then use IF to maintain it.

What's even more amazing is that we have access to other JUDDD BUDDDs who have lost large amounts of weight doing this. Some of them are already at goal, and some are in process. They are here every day, encouraging, supporting and motivating us to keep on keepin' on. They've shown us already...it is possible!

I will be happily participating in this new thread, as we do have unique challenges to overcome. Airplane travel is a big motivator for me as well.

I have been experiencing an extended stall of late, which I attribute primarily to some big personal stressors that I have been dealing with. I have also been struggling (not too successfully) to keep my UD calorie levels from turning into UUADs. Even so, this morning I hit a new low weight from JUDDDing that I haven't seen it in 7 long years. I still have so very far to go, but wow, this little intermediate success feels really, really good.

Thanks for starting this thread! I look forward to hearing from our fellow JUDDD Buddds!

Kimmie

I would have liked a thread like this when I started with JUDDD. Thank you for starting it! I will follow along with interest and offer support where I can.

deedee 05-01-2013 09:47 AM

What a great idea for a thread! I'm more than halfway through my weight loss, but my original goal was 100+ pounds. I can relate to so much of what you say here Andy. And I love the way you organized your goals, especially the memory of what you felt like when you were at that weight before.

LoCarbGal 05-01-2013 09:58 AM

Excellent post Andy. I too would have liked something like this when I was starting out. The road ahead just looks so long, but if I hadn't bitten the bullet in January 2012, I wouldn't have lost 110 pounds now. It's SOOOOO worth it! I figure I've got another year or near it to get to my final goal, what with losses slowing down as I have less to lose and stalls and such. Still a long road ahead, but very do-able.

I love your mini-goals. And you CAN achieve them! Just one day at a time, one meal at a time. Stick with us and it will be so much easier, and dare I say it...fun!

Here's a post I made in December last year, listing my mini-goals, and updated in February with my progress.

Here are mine....what are yours?

233 - BMI will be < 40 - from currently morbidly obese (hate that term) to obese (also not a favorite, but better!) Achieved 12/31/12!

229 - Halfway to final goal. I neglected to note this in my original post, but it's an important one to acknowlege, so I added it here. Achieved 1/14/13!

224 - my high weight from when I started losing in 1998. I got to 130 in 2000. Started gaining it back in 2002. Achieved 2/19/13!

218.5 - will be 100 pounds lost since starting loss this time in January 2012. I'm very close! This is my February goal weight, and I have until 3/1 to make it - I have hopes! Achieved in March 2013 (don't have the date handy right now!)

199 - onederland - can't wait!

175 - BMI will be < 30 - from obese to merely overweight

145 - BMI will be < 25 - from overweight to "normal"

140 goal weight, unless I choose to go further

Something inside me wants to shoot for 118.5, which would be a 200 pound loss, but I'm not sure that's really necessary, or even wise. Even 124, my original 100 pound loss from 2002, which I never quite made, would be exciting. I guess time will tell. In the meantime, I look forward to checking each of these off during 2013.

My goal of 140 puts me at 96 lbs. to lose. Right now I am down 31.6!! I read a thread when I first started that someone set goals at every 10% loss and I loved the idea and set those goals with rewards. Here is what I came up with:

Start 238

Goal 1 ~ 214.2 ~ go see a movie (something I never do and not a movie for my son. LOL) made this goal on 3/28/13
Goal 2 ~ 192.8 ~ massage (bought on a daily deal site and just waiting to make this goal so I can make the appointment!)
Goal 3 ~ 173.5 ~ a new outfit
Goal 4 ~ 156.1 ~ jewelry
Goal 5 ~ 140.5 ~ a new tattoo

I LOVE the idea of rewards! In fact I have a similar reward that you do (just not waiting as long to do it!) I'm getting a large tattoo that will span my shoulder blade down to my middle back (where we are covering up a "tramp stamp" from my misspent youth ) for every 25 lbs I loose (of the first 100) I'm having a section done. I have my drawing for the first section, my shoulder blade portion, and had an appointment for this past Saturday but I cancelled it because I only hit 22 lbs lost and I really want to stay true to this. Funny thing is that I don't think I even included this in my numbers above!

AndyBFK 05-01-2013 04:14 PM

Yay! :jumpjoy::jumpjoy::jumpjoy:
I'm so glad everyone is excited about this! I knew there wasn't too many of us, so I wasn't sure whether to start this, but I forget about all of you who have already made this journey. I hope you all stick around this thread too, your experience is invaluable!!!!

Here's to all our successes big and small. Sometimes I feel like with so far to go the little triumphs don't always feel to important. But they are! It was little gains of 2 and 3 lbs here and there over a very long period that got me here so I have to accept that's the same road I will travel to get back. Enjoy it!!!

LiLi914 05-01-2013 05:21 PM

This is such a great idea. I actually have to give my mini-goals some thought.

Deen73 05-01-2013 06:00 PM

Hi, Andy! (and everybody) I guess I technically have 100 pounds that I could lose, that would put me at my super-secret goal weight (which I don't dare tell my husband or rl friends, because they'll say it's too low) of 127. That was my lowest weight in college and when I looked and felt my best. I don't really have many mini-goals -- but the ones I do I break up more into chunks of time. Odd, I know, but I'll explain...

For example -- this year, I'd like to get under 200. I'm only 29 lbs away, so it's a modest goal. If I can do this, though, I'll be thrilled with my progress. Even 199 is a weight I was not sure I'd see again before JUDDD.

The next year, my goal is mostly just to continue with JUDDD and see where I am at the end of that year. If I'm at 127, great. If I only get to 160, but think I look and feel good at that weight and want to stay there -- also great! I'm a gemini, and we're flexible. lol Good luck to all, I'll be following this thread with interest!

RenoMom 05-02-2013 08:44 PM

Well I guess this is as good of place as any to jump in. I am currently (well 2 days ago) at 300 lbs. I got down to 268 last summer with help from Juddd. I am Hypothyroid and had many complications this past year and I gave up. Two weeks ago I had a total Thyroidectomy and was bumped up to 175mcg of synthroid. Dr gave me the go ahead to diet so Im coming back to JUDDD. I dont have any goals really. I want to get to 199 and see from there. I have well over 100lbs to lose. I look at my weight loss at 10lbs at a time, my hope is to drop 10 a month.

So far I started Monday as my 1st UD

Monday UD 300
Tuesday DD 301
Wednesday UD 297
Thursday DD 296

:welcome: back Arlene! So glad you found your way back! I have no doubt that you will do this.

We love to see people's progress like you are listing. If you like, you can join us in the daily weigh in thread too. http://www.lowcarbfriends.com/bbs/ju...ily-weigh.html

Welcome back Arlene! :hiya:

I started out with 138.7 to lose but now I have about 76 to go. :) I love mini goals! My first one was -20 pounds, then getting out of the awfully-named "morbidly obese" category, and currently working on "Onederland."

Flossyliz 05-03-2013 03:37 PM

What an inspiring thread!
I hope you don't mind me lurking here because I didn't have 100lbs to lose. I can't tell you how much respect have for you all and your goals.

Deena, how tall are you? I'm 5'2" and not too thin at 127.

Deen73 05-03-2013 04:36 PM

Hi, everyone -- and welcome back, Arlene! :) I am also a returning JUDD-ster, even though I think I've already been doing it longer this time than the first! lol

FlossyLiz, I'm 5' 7" You know, it's weird, when I was 127 in college, I was NOT that small. I was a size 6-8 (depending on the clothing item) and can still wear some of my really loose t-shirts from that era! It's weird, I was swimming laps a lot and was in my University's ballet troupe, so it wasn't like I wasn't exercising either. I see people on this board in the 150's-170's wearing the same clothing sizes I was then, so I'm hoping for the same. We shall see! :)

RenoMom 05-04-2013 09:10 AM

And now for the bounce.

Monday UD 300
Tuesday DD 301
Wednesday UD 297
Thursday DD 296
Friday UD 294
Saturday DD 295

No no don't leave us!!!

Good to hear from everyone! I have been totally MIA for a week or so. Had another long, but fun, weekend away. This time with a good friend. So of course lots of eating, lots of cocktails, all the stuff you do on a girls trip. So I'm back this week and still just maintaining at this same weight I started off with weeks ago. I'm getting ready to leave on Saturday for a fabulous 16 day European & Russian vacation. I had a goal of losing 40lbs for this trip. I barley made it to 20. It's frustrating but a lot of it was the addition of three mini vacations in the last 2 months and too much trouble with strict low carb (wondering WHY I stuck with it so long when it wasn't working for me!) In the 3 weeks I was faithful to JUDDD, JUDDD was faithful to me (which is way more than I can say with Atkins). I just need to get my butt back in gear as soon as I get back from this trip and not let any other long weekend mini trips sway me (cause I have TWO more coming up in the month I get back from Europe. Yeah, this is my life!)

Kimmietoo 05-08-2013 06:28 PM

Andy, how wonderful that you dropped 20 pounds ahead of your trip! It sounds like a dream vacation! Have a wonderful time, enjoy yourself, and know that we and JUDDD will be here when you get back.

Living and enjoying our life as we have our journeys .... this is what we all need to be doing!

Kimmie

AndyBFK 06-04-2013 08:02 PM

Well, I thought I would try and resurrect this thread now that I am back!

If I haven't said it already, we did have a FABULOUS trip. And all the walking we did, for 8+ hours everyday helped me counteract the ridiculous amount of food we ate. But, for all that eating, I only gained about 1.5 lbs and that was after a HUGE woosh I had the day before we left. So I ended May way below my goal and feeling ready to start JUDDD again. (No I'm sorry, but, no one is gonna tell me that exercise doesn't effect weight loss. On a normal lazy cruise, it's not uncommon to gain 5-10lbs!)

Well, my first mini goal is to be out of the 300's and I'm giving myself the rest of this month to do it. I've been bouncing around the same number the last 5 days or so. But I think for me this is just how it's gonna be. Before my trip, I was bummed because I hadn't lost a thing, and then WOOSH, the day before I leave a 10lb drop on the scale. So, I'm going to stay positive all month even if the scale is mean to me and really shoot for my first mini goal!

deedee 06-04-2013 08:43 PM

This is wonderful news! 1.5 pounds after a vacation? Love it!

Whether you make that goal or not (and I hope you do!), staying on plan is its own victory. I'm glad you updated this post!

meggen 06-04-2013 10:33 PM

I am new to JUDDD and to the boards, but would love to join in this thread. I started officially Wednesday but I didn't weigh til Friday. (323 Yikes!!)

I lost 28 lbs last year doing WeightWatchers, but it was not something I could do for life. I also feel better when I eat VERY low carb (less foggy more energy).

I also prefer "mini goals" and also self rewards

My first mini goal is to stay focused and on plan for 28 days (til June 26th when I am going on vacation), To help me with this I am paying myself:
.25 cents a day if I keep my calories (and carbs) where they should be
$1 every 7 days in a row I keep on track
$5 every 28 days in a row I keep on track

It's only $16 a month but I watch all those quarters filling up a glass jar and it motivates me (and I can't afford more since DH lost his job last year)

DeltaBigBoy 06-05-2013 03:32 AM

My goals.

When I was 342lbs it was 299

263 high school football weight
236 the weight I was down to before I ended up n the hospital this January.:annoyed:
218 8th grade wrestling weight
199 obvious :)

I don't really know what my ultimate goal weight will be.

:welcome::welcome: I love the idea of monetary incentive. You're going to save enough there to buy yourself some awesome new clothes as you lose!
