Yeah, I didn't/don't have this either. I still track & count. There might be an occasion, rarely, where I don't for whatever reason but my standard is to count. Since it is just as important not to undereat as it is to not overeat on your UDs, I'm glad I do count. There have been days where I've had to throw in a handful of pecans to meet calories. Just as there have been other days where I've realized that extra serving of <whatever> isn't happening or I will be way over my cals.

I find that the more whole/pure the food is, the more I'm satisfied. Fresh or fresh cooked veggies, fresh meat (well, as in, not processed meats like hot dogs or lunch meat), some fruits, cheeses, eggs. These tend to be the things that get me through UDs and DDs. I've just made an overall shift in what I eat. Not 100%, believe me, I had a doughnut today but in general.
