Newbie question... measuring vs. weighing?
Hi all! I'm curious about the emphasis on weight as opposed to body measurements as a sign of success... do most JUDDDers keep regular stats on areas like chest, waist, hip, etc.?

I'm finishing up my second week of JUDDD, in the first week I lost 5 lbs, but after two more weigh-ins after a DD my loss is 1 pound. I think I'm going to keep track with the measuring tape to boost my motivation when the scale isn't nice to me

Would anyone be intersted in posting on a measurement / inches lost thread?

Hope you all are enjoying your weekend :D

Hi Christine!
In response to your question, yes, there is a thread about NSVs or Non-Scale Victories. Here, JUDDDers post about the great benefits they are experiencing, like fitting into smaller sizes, being able to go off medications and not-stressing about food, etc. Enjoy the reading, there are tons of NSVs out there for you with JUDDD:jumpjoy:

Here is the link to the NSVs thread:

Thank you I will definitely check that out!

Hi, xine

Also check out the challenge thread. Right now our challenge is for July 4th and lots of those participating have either inch-loss or clothing goals.

When you're in a forum called "Weight Loss Plans", most chat is going to be about weight as a measurement. But we do chat about both here. Best wishes!

I never measured with a measuring tape. I did have a pair of pants and a dress I tried on at regular intervals. But most of my journey I relied on the scale.

I weigh much more often than I measure... But I always measure everything before I begin a diet or exercise program. And then at intervals throughout. I'm a bit of a chart/spreadsheet geek, so I like to see the downward trends of all of those measurements! Of course, photos can be a big motivator too. I have done the P90X program in the past, and took pictures throughout, as they suggest and seeing the before, during and after pictures really motivated me to keep it up!

I think think measuring is so important. I do it once a month. This month I measured in the middle and it made be feel so much better to see that the measurements were smaller even though the weight seemed stuck. That happens a lot. We talk a lot around here about how are pants are fitting, too: "the pants don't lie!" :D

I do both, and try on things on a regular basis to track how they fit as well.

My weight has been fairly stable since mid-February... Maybe down 3 pounds or so, but I'm still losing inches. I think for me it is that some of the loose skin is tightening, which is very good, but people are convinced that I'm still losing, which I'm not, but I must be looking smaller. I've had a few people almost start arguing with me that I must still be losing despite what I say.

I weigh every (almost) day, and measure once every month or two. I always intend to do it around the first of the month - reminder to self, that's coming up! - but many times I forget. I think about it when I'm stalling and need a different number to motivate me that this is still working.

Definitely read the NSV thread front to back. There's so much great stuff there.
