Anyone doing higer DD calories?

Anyone doing higher than 500 cal DD and able to lose or maintain weight? I feel that less than 500 cal puts too much stress on my body and causes me to overeat. I was thinking of doing 800 cal DD to see if I can control my eating.

Well, when I do a potato DD I eat around 600 calories and maintain or even lose a tad. That is why I do the potato DD's so I can eat more calories.

I must confess that I find it hard to stick to my allotted 435 calories, or even 500 for that matter. I seem to average between 500 and 560 on a good DD, perhaps 600 on a bad day. It does stress me out, and I become food obsessed, if I eat less than 500. I just try to make up the difference with exercise, or by lessening my calories on my upday. I still manage to lose weight.

Your 50% maintenance number is probably about 800. So I would think if you want to maintain you could do about 800/1600 give or take.

That's right Carly. I am not quite in in maintenance yet, so maybe I should do couple of 500's and couple of 800 DD, or maybe 4:3 with 500 cal.

It's hard to say. Maybe try a week or 2 of each. I'm doing 5:2 with both DDs around 300 and no counting on UDs so I think they vary widely from 1,200-1800.

I have never done a DD below 500c and most of mine range between 600 - 700c. I just can't function at work with less.

Thank you Cin, Adi and Monica. I think I will try to stay anywhere between 500-800. Some days more or less.

Marika, I found myself on lower DD's at work stating, I will do that tomorrow when I can concentrate better. UMMMM I can't do that for everything. I honestly don't know how those that keep it 300-400 manage. I have tried and tried and I can't make that happen.

I did low calorie DD's all through my weight loss phase and never noticed any problems at work. Course maybe there was and I was too out of it to notice. But I also have no health issues and not eating for long periods of time don't seem to have an effect on me.
But now I am striving to increase my DD calories to 600 and above. Maintenance and all.

I find that I concentrate better sometimes on my DDs because I'm not constantly thinking of what I can eat next.

It just goes to show how different we all are. I concentrate better the less I eat. I had lunch yesterday (Spicy Tunba roll) and wanted to sleep the rest of the day. I usually don't eat anything till dinner or a bedtime snack on DD. On the 1 or 2 UDs during the week that I eat before dinner I usually have a greek yogurt. I made a promise to myself to take a lunch break every Friday for the rest of spring and all summer, but I may take a break and not eat. I can affort to be sluggish and tired because I ate lunch.

I'm like you Monica- I have a demanding job and can't affort to put things off because I'm drowsy and sluggish.

I think I could do lower days, if my situation were different. As it is, I associate coming home at night with a meal. If I were single and dating or something, I'd probably have more on my mind than food. Wait, I probably wouldn't have this weight problem either.

This may be better for some, but not everyone. My DD were almost never below 500 - usually 600-800. I am now doing more of the 3 day rotation (UD-MD-DD) and my DD are still more like 800 than 500. Maintaining easily in a 5 pound range.

I know with the down day numbers, correct me if I,m wrong but for the first two weeks it is really important to stay at the 500 or blow to release the SIRT1 gene that we are all after. I would think after the initial introductory phase you could play around with the numbers some more. I know for me I don't beat myself up AT ALL..cuz, as I just realized..two weeks out of the month I'm PMSing, one week out of the month I'm TOMing so that only leaves one week I have to behave. Who loves my logic?!

Mama - when my DH and I started neither of us kept our DD numbers to the 500c mark. DH lost 40 pounds in less than 3 months and I was losing very well too!
