3 Day Rotations!!!

Some of us are doing a tweaked version of JUDDD with a 3 day rotation DD-MD--UD. I know it has broken a long time stall for me. Join us to learn, discuss and support as we figure out how to make this tweak work for us!

For background- I have been in a several month stall and no amount of tweaking has helped. In desperation I did some detective work and deconstructed the one awesome month of weight loss I have had in a year of JUDDDING. Last September I lost 10 pounds!!! The only difference I could find between losing 10 pounds and losing 2 or 3 or, many months, zero pounds was a steady stream of MDs in that month - not on purpose but to accommodate a bunch of events.

I have now done 4 rotations of DD-MD-UD and in 12 days have dropped over 5 pounds. That's more than I have lost in the last 4-5 months of EOD JUDDDING with the same intensity, same food choices, same exercise patterns. The only difference is the new rotation patterns but I will admit that there were no UUADs in this period.

I believe my body needs a MD to "set" the DD loss and not give it back on the next UD. I will continue to follow the 3 day rotations and hope you will join me in this experiment. Feels great to finally be losing!

That is so interesting! It probably also keeps your body guessing, which makes sense to me since I was just reading the Shake It Up, Baby! (for no loss/too slow loss/the diet-weary, etc.) thread and this kind of fits in to the theory that we don't want our bodies to adapt to what we're doing too much!

How exciting! Count me in for the test drive. I had great early success but have struggled with stalls of late. I will do a MD tomorrow and get started with you on this. How exciting that you've broken your stall with such terrific stats! Thanks for sharing!

Even though it's early days for me on JUDDD, I'm already seeing old patterns of bingeing that want to re-emerge and I'm having none of that again.
Hopefully, this modified version will help to keep the binge monster tucked safely away and still allow me to lose weight consistently.

Down another pound today!!

Yesterday was a high DD since my last rotation got a bit screwed up and my calories have been low the last couple of days. I felt I needed some nutrition. Yesterday DD was 650 cals. Today's MD wil be 1100 -1200. Tomorrow UD will be 1700-1800. I expect a bounce after the UD then will go back to low DD on Monday. Woot! Back to loving this WOE.. all it took was some results LOL

Where is Vanilla? Soren? We need to shout this from the rafters to all those diligent JBs who have not gotten the scale results. Try the 3 day and see if it is your answer.

Note: I know it is only a quick experiment at this point but I fervently hope it keeps on working and will be recording my experience here in case it can help others break through.

Gee- dieting is so much more rewarding when you actually lose weight. Who wudda thunk it?

I'm thinking about trying this in May! I want to finish out the month to see what I will do normally during what is always my best weight loss week of the month (the week I am off BCPs, which is next week). Then, if I follow my recent pattern, the week or two after that will be stagnant. Even though I have still been losing inches, and eventually pounds at the end of the month, I would love to convince my body that it's really ok to give up a little more weight.

Every month I'm up about 3 lbs from my lowest of the month before, at the beginning of the month. Then it takes a full 2 wks to get back to it consistently, then another two weeks to go down another lb, or 2 if I'm lucky. I don't know if I have the determination to give up having a UD eod, but it's worth a try.

Mamadodge, to calculate your MD, add your DD and UD allowances and divide by two. (I'm assuming it's the 20% DD number.)

MD numbers are also the 60% number on the JUDDD calculator. So cool that we have all these JBs testing this out!!!

Very cool! I may try this if I don't see losses on 5:2 rotations. Not sure that I understand the math though. Is there a reason why MD calories are based on 60% rather than 50% according to the JUDDD calculator?

I oopsed trying for my first MD yesterday. I guess never having done one before, my body just assumed it was an UD and I for sure behaved that way! ACK. As I consequence I decided to do a strict DD today and go for MD numero uno tomorrow. I am feeling good about the program and looking forward to trying this little twist!

It's the "average" of the UD and DD calories, not just half of your UD calories.
