Not sure what that is Kissa, would you mind sharing? I googled it but found a whole bunch of information about bird's wings...

Sorry, it is Pterostilbene and there are a couple of threads about it on here. I have been using it for a few months and find it really gives me hunger control.

You will see it mimics the calorie restriction effects of JUDDD and VLC. There is a lot of good research about it.

Me too! Once I break the fast, it's curtains! skipping a morning meal a few times a week has really been working for me. But since I love coffee in the morning and other breakfast foods, I don't skip every day. MD it is!

Wow - me too! If I eat breakfast I just want to keep eating. I am using ptero along with the 1-2-3. (I need every crutch I can grab onto!) I just use the UD number as calculated with 20%. I didn't go back and check the calculator but I thought the UD didn't change, just the DD number? Please post your results all. I am excited to see where we all take this!

I don't remember now! I just know I wasn't very happy with the results those weeks. LOL! I am always game to try something again if needbe, though. I will be watching you guys!

A little more detective work on my 1-2-3 experiment. Here are the stats from my first 6 rotations:

Theoretical High weights in 6 rotations on DD (after UD)
180 177.8 177.8 175.6 173.2 172.4
Difference: 7.6 pounds

Theoretical Low weights in 6 rotations on UD (after DD & MD)
176 175.2 176.6 174.2 171.6 171.6
Difference: 4.4 pounds

1-2-3 Avg weights during the rotation
177.93 176.07 177.4 175.13 172.13 172.47
Difference: 5.46 pounds

Avg loss from prior rotation
1.87 (1.33) 2.27 3.00 (.33)
Difference: 5.47 pounds

Avg cals during rotation
1093 1172 987 1067 1233 1033

Are you suggesting it doesn't have the same benefits of JUDDD? My main objective is to lose weight, so I'm going to give this the old college try. Today is my first MD.

Well, I went through a complete rotation (DD-MD-UD). Today is another DD.

I can report that I didn't eat a 1/2 gallon of ice cream last night - which is me out of control on an UD.

Perhaps this is a "side-effect" of the 3-day rotation?? Don't know yet.

If it is, I like it.

To be continued....

I was also down 1/2 lb when I weighed myself yesterday morning (the start of my UD).

3-day rotations were an epic fail for me. I just couldn't deny myself a nice dinner and dessert...still haven't had dessert, but it's coming. May come back to this in the future if I ever have the resolve.

Drat - sorry it didn't work for you Librarygirl. I am soooo pumped to finally be losing weight that this is a breeze to me. Vanilla - I hope you give it a shot. I have lost more weight in the last 19 days then the prior 5 months altogether. I am psyched!!!

Come on in DeeDee. The water's fine!!

Thanks Flutter! You're having an amazing month!! WTG!

In my head I have started to think of my rotations as DD-MD-UD but also as Fast-Diet-Watch which has helped me mentally to keep a lid on UDs. I know I can have some treats but I have to "watch". Whatever.

I really want to drop 2 more pounds before May to get into the 160s!!!! I walked 6 miles today because I may not be watching so carefully at dinner tonight LOL and I dont want that bounce so high it smacks me in the nose tomorrow.

TryingJudd, So you would do the pattern DD-MD-UD and then the same pattern again? I used the Calculator and it's saying my DD would be 360 and my UD will be 1801. What would my MD be? I'm 5'5, 175 and 47yo. Sounds like something I'd like to try. I tried this WOE back in November and my UD got to be where I would go crazy eating. But would do fine on the DD. Sounds like a MD would help me go slower on my UD. Thanks for any help you can give.

I was expecting it. I own it. I earned it. But the bounce after an UD still surprises me. I ate a lot and had wine, etc ... but my cals for the day were still just about 2400 and I walked 6 miles yesterday so burned about 500. Technically I was still on track and given my BMR should even be able to lose a little bit on that so why the bounce (2 pounds)? Are DD weights just artificially low? Is it all water from the salty restaurant food and the wine? It's not fat given the calories were not 7000 over so not freaking out just genuinely curious about why we get big bounces sometimes and not others and why some people have a greater tendency to bounce.

Hugs to you TryingJudd
A post-alcohol consumption bounce is fairly typical. Alcohol dehydrates the body and, post-drinks, the body responds by retaining water. Salty restaurant food (or any salty food for me) will also cause water retention. Drink a bunch of water (with lemon) to flush out the extra water and you should be right as rain in a a couple of days.

I wouldn't use the word artificial, but your body is physically empty after fasting. Food in various stages of the digestive tract accounts for some of our weight. I eat very, very, little volume on my DDs so my body is very empty by dinner on my UD when I typically eat for the first time so my weight can easily bounce between 125.5- 123 and I have not gained or lost "fat" it's just a change in the volume of undigested/unexpelled food. When I realized this, the bounce really didn't bother me. During my weight loss I just looked at periods of time to see the downward trend.

I agree with Carly - there is more food in your body after an up day, which just weighs more, and in addition to that, restaurant food tends to include more sodium which cause some of us () to retain water more than others. I was having lunch with a super-slim lady the other day who said that she went out for lunch and dinner one day recently and she gained two pounds. "It's all the sodium!" she said... and she's not on an up day/down day eating plan, either.
