I'd say today is a 5...
And that's a nice surprise, after a few not-so-healthy-food-choice-days. I've been struggling with the seasonal [perpetual winter] blahs and giving into the urge to feed my bummer emotions.

Today has been a good DD so far. I was barely truly hungry, let alone ravenous by the time I decided to eat my egg/ham "breakfast" at 2:45pm. I feel like the planned quesadilla will do just fine for dinner! It will end up a bit under 600 calories, but that's a GOOD DD compared to recent days.

"Feed my bummer emotions." That's a great phrase, S.

5+ here. Thanking the diet gods for this one. Breakfast with friends, travelled mid-day, home to exciting but jarring news, all of which would normally spell challenge. Totally reasonable DD choices all day long.

Giving today a 4 at the moment. I'm having a very mellow DD. I don't have lots of energy but I have a lot of chores to get done. I was changing the sheets on my bed and was very tempted to just get into it and sleep! I'm not hungry in my body, but I have this feeling that I could just cut loose and eat a bunch of junk if I had any in the house. Thank goodness I don't.

Overall, not bad! Had planned on just liquids and stay <100 cals but I've already gone past that! Did feel sort of queasy, so gave into the strawberries in the fridge that were staring at me, then lean turkey slice did the same! Great food choices, well under DD numbers but more than planned! So, really a pretty good day so far!

My DD plans changed too, JD. I made it with nothing but the morning coffee and water all day until 7 pm. Was going to have the protein powder for 90 calories but the thought of it just didn't float my boat and I felt I needed to eat something.

I had 2 HB eggs and a bowl of veggie soup. I'm estimating 300 for the day. That's 100 below my 400 DD limit, but more than the 150 I was planning to stick with.

I'm good with it though. I'll be early to bed and look forward to a good UD tomorrow.

Know what's weird? Feeling stuffed, mid-afternoon, after a cup of broth. I'd be a skinny human if I felt like this more often.

JoyJoy, why can't we just summon that full feeling whenever we want?

I had lunch out with my stepmother, and on the way there, around noon, I realized I wasn't hungry for lunch yet. But I had to eat and get back to work, so I did. I really wish I could have enjoyed it more, but I was able to eat less than what I had planned, so saved a few DD cals for dinner. I want that feeling more often for sure.

Today has been only a 3 or less all day. Just gritting my teeth because so many Saturday temptations made it hard for me to stay on course.

But, I have so far! Only the 60 calories in my coffee this morning and the rest was water and tea.

Hope it pays off in the long run. I've been getting used to loving my DDs, but even though I was looking forward to it, mid day I wanted comfort food and all the goodies I was preparing and giving to my grand kids who spent the night and were here all day today.

Dear DD just picked them up and I told DH I'd like to run to the corner store and buy my favorite Chardonnay, make some snacks and watch a movie. But I didn't. By sheer will I stayed with the plan. I'm soooooo looking forward to a lovely UD tomorrow, even though DH is sick and I will have a day of catch up work to do.

Wow, Yam! Great job.
I will use your DD yesterday as my inspiration for today.
I was so disappointed by my weigh in this morning (irrational, I know) that I had to fight off binge twinge as early as 8 AM (and that was really 7AM, LOL)
Thank you for posting this.

My DD yesterday turned into an UD. Hate it when that happens! So I'm just turning today into a DD and not going to stress it.

So far, this DD is going okay. And it's already 3pm, so I should make it!

My mood could be better, but my arthritis in my ankle is flaring up and I'm in pain.

Hey Pat! I just popped over to the daily weigh-in thread to see that you had a 2 pound bounce after your UD. Please remind yourself that after UDs your body is replenishing it's glycogen stores so that you can maintain and even build lean muscle mass and bone density. For every gram of glycogen, the body holds on to 2 grams of water. This is all so the process will be successful.

Very recently after a good UD I had a bounce up of 3.4 pounds! So your two is nothin'. I win!

After an UD bounce, I try to concentrate on foods that act as a diuretic like protein, asparagus, the juice of a lemon squeezed in water, green tea (iced or hot) or two tablespoons of organic ACV stirred into ice water.

Stay really hydrated on your DDs. It's been a long time since I mentioned this, but when our body moves fat from fat cells into the bloodstream, it's processed through the kidneys. So, when you feel lots of fluid flushing out on DDs (lots of trips to little girl's room) you are literally peeing out the fat!

ADF also reduces the amount of fat your body will store from any excess calories. Those are flushed out through the kidneys as well.

So, think of the bounces up after an UD as a good, good thing. And focus on protein and lots of hydration to flush the fat out of your body.

Last night after my last post I made an 8 ounce mug of 20 calorie hot chocolate with a teaspoon of EV coconut oil stirred in. It was soooooo satisfying and just what I needed to finish off a successful DD.

Thankfully after a good night's sleep (which I really, really needed) the scale rewarded me. Yesterday's bounce was gone. Plus I now have gone from being -11.4 after last DD to now -11.8. Not huge progress, but moving in the right direction.

:

Sorry about your ankle pain Is there something you can take for that? You have the right attitude about ADF!!! If a DD turns into an UD just move on. Flexibility and simplicity. That's the ticket!

Hmmmm,
Lots to think about, Yam Yam.
Thank you for the time you took to write that for me.
I will grab some Asparagus tomorrow as I have to shop anyway.
I think I will order some Bragg's, too. I've never tried using that.
DD is okay, but hungry and still a little bummed.
I won't cave, tho, I've come too far to quit. If that makes any sense to anyone.
hug,
P

DD Monday for me. It's 3 p.m. and I'm just starting to get some tummy growls to I guess I'll give it a 4 for right now.

I do have a lot of go to foods like HB eggs, pickles w/ lean deli ham, cottage cheese, etc. And, it's my plan to use 'em all if necessary!

4+ today. I didn't need my breakfast, but ate lunch a little earlier than normal. It's 4:00 p.m. now and I just had a Quest bar. I'm at 350 calories so far which leaves plenty for dinner if I get hungry. Most likely I'll just have some steamed cabbage and come in around 400 for the day.

I would give it a 5, except my DDs lately have not been bringing me back to the bounce range I like, so I'm feeling a tiny bit resentful.

Almost 8:30 pm here. Still about a 4 but I've gone to 221 calories so far and that will probably be it for today.

Could go to bed but I'm wanting to stay up and hope I'll get sleepy enough to sleep through DH's coughing fits. Wish me luck!

So far so good! Went for a 6 mile walk after 3 days of doing nothing, just UDs I think yesterday's UUAD has a lot to do with sustaining today's DD. Shooting for under 300 cal, closer to DD numbers but more than originally planned! Trying to take in more protein.

It's amazing how we beat ourselves up over 100kcals - it's such a tiny amount of food tho' a disproportionate # of DD kcals.

JD - do you keep to the same foods on DD or just wing it? Nancy, has a comment about DDs that near about choked me as I was (unwisely) drinking tea at the time and gave myself a nastily tannin nasal flush.

Always, always, always on DDs have foods planned in small caloric amounts so, if you do get hungry, you can satisfy that hunger without lifting the fridge and pouring it into your mouth.

If you do realize you just cleaned out the pantry with a side of ice cream, don't panic, don't get mad at yourself, don't even despair. Just figure out what triggered the Roman Feast and make plans to avoid the trigger in the future.

Today is a 4 so far. I'm in a very postive frame of mind because of being down some on the scale despite my UD yesterday. I think it was flushing some of the sodium from the weekend. I had lots of water yesterday. I also finally took the suggestion to count my UD calories, which I have stubbornly refused to do since I began. Anyway, looks like I may come in under 400 if things go as planned.

I'm feeling like a 5+ though it's pretty early in the day to judge.

Yesterday was a very satisfying and nourishing UD with plenty of good food but nothing over the top. I'm not at all hungry, so even though I had lots of carbs, I didn't get the residual cravings that sometimes happens.

I weighed exactly the same as yesterday (a new low since my JUDDD restart in January) so like you, Carolina/Coast I'm feeling some scale motivation to keep me jazzed!

Feeling like a 3. I'm not hungry but I'm a bit sore and tired (that said, I did have weight training last night and that takes it out of me).

It's also tricky for me to tweak my MCT oil intake and food at present to keep on top of the migraines while we transition into Spring. I'll do it but I might have a rough couple of weeks.

5+ all day! Today went by fast! I kept busy with little organizing projects and I didn't think about food even once. Just kept filling up my glass of ice water.

It's 8:30 here and I just had one and a half scoops of protein powder in water to hopefully help me sleep. So my calorie total for the day is 195 which feels awesome right now.

I think I'll have some hot lemon water and take a bubble bath and snuggle into bed.

SlowSure: Sorry you are sore and tired. I hope you feel more perky tomorrow.

I should've eaten more yesterday. I had 150 cals less than my UD target.
Ah well. Live and learn.
