Yesterday ended up being the best DD I had in the past two weeks. I was busy all day and evening. I consciously wanted to have a good DD because I've been so disappointed in myself for having 600-700 days when I know it was just head hunger.

Giving today a 4, I haven't eaten yet but I am unusually hungry. Planning a salad with an HB egg.

5. Edited all morning and for much of the afternoon. This makes it fly by.
New strategy today. I prefer the liquid DDs, but am famished on UDs before noon. So today, a salad with an egg late afternoon, and I'm done. We'll see if it makes for an easier UD tomorrow.

Good idea, Kristin. I love that we can all tweak and play, and figure out what works best.

I haven't had anything but tea - hot and iced - so far all day. I decided that if I could do a 300-400 DD today, it would be a good "shake-up" of my typical 500's lately. I think I can do it. No hunger yet, just a few rumbles.

I wish I could get to a point where DDs are easier. Within a couple of hours after waking today I was soo hungry! 150mg of Ptero didn't seem to help. White-knuckled it with liquids but really wanted to eat. I try to save solid food for later in the day because evening hours are my worst time. Been trying to have 500 calorie DDs but feel discouraged that I can't successfully have the super low DDs like some of you.

Mary Ellen, we have such a variety of challenges, don't we? Sure, I can do ultra-low DDs, but I go CRAZY some days wondering why my UD calories NEVER feel satisfying. I feel sooooo good on DDs and sooooo broken when it comes to UDs.

around a 4 for me today. Too much coffee forsure -- as soon as I crashed I felt very light headed. Around 370 calories total . Hoping for a good loss on the scale tomorrow to make it all worth while

Major internal whining going on, here. It's not food-related, it's moving-stress related. It's not even making me hungry, I just want to comfort myself with eating as a way of assuring myself that things will be straight in the near future.

So, 4 for hunger but low points for everything else so far so this is feeling like a vulnerable sort of day. It's not helping that yesterday and today's kayak sessions (Sunday/Monday) have been cancelled and I've no gym tomorrow as the trainer had to cancel.

In a wee tear with myself. It will pass.

It's not always helpful to compare yourself to others - different physiology/metabolism quirks, different environments and circumstances etc.

WLM works with some kcals on DDs (Dr J provides a range and it works). Maybe at some point, super low DDs will work for you but IME it's better to continue with what works and tweak when necessary rather than run the risk of tweaking, feeling discontented, and swapping WOE or even stopping. (This is not a description of you - it approx. happened to me my 1st time with JUDDD.)

This is my first day back after two weeks travelling and not rotating. Regained 10 of the 15 lbs I had lost. First dd after all that gorging (hotel buffets are diabolical!) and it's tough but I haven't eaten yet and it's nearly 4pm. Planning an egg now before school pickup, and then another egg and some veg. for 300 cals. I'm calling today a 3--hard, but not nearly as bad as I might expect.

Mary Ellen, just remember, this is not a race and we really are all so very different. Many great 'loser' never went below 700 calorie DDs. You are doing fine.

Sending hugs Slow, as Dawn says, you are going through so much mentally and physically right now, you are entitled to feel a little down. Shame about the exercise though as it is so good for us when we are stressed.

4dev, don't worry about those holiday pounds, they were fun in the gaining and will be easy in the losing I am sure. Sounds as if you are having a great DD.

Thank you, both. DH is on schedule for his return from Edinburgh today so I'll see him tonight. The upside of the move is that I'm now 'home' already, and I'll see DH a good 90mins earlier than would otherwise have been practical.

My preoccupations and such tend to disappear within minutes of me getting onto the water. You typically see nothing but more water, wildlife, the skeletons of trees beginning to come into bud (already!) or garbed in amazing shades of lichens, and maybe other paddlers at present. It's blissfully peaceful and every vista tends to be a thing of beauty, whether for itself, its reflections on the water or the prisms cast up by water spray. It's completely serene (even when the rivers are turbulent) and I miss it when I can't get on the water.

I'll unpack some boxes, shift some things around and then pop into the bath with a pot of tea (I prefer showers but an Epsom Salts bath might unkink some of my muscles).

Grumbly sort of DD - thank you for making it more bearable, JBs.

So far a good DD. Dinner is ready but I am making myself wait. It is Zuchinni noodles with some fire roasted tomatoes and a few shrimp. About 150. This should have me about 350 for the day!!

I find posting here soooo helpful... but seeing people's menus and pics of foods, even DD food, makes me think about food, which then makes me a bit hungry even when I'm not.
ah well-- the good outweighs the bad

so far today, a good 4.5. we'll see if I make it to bedtime with my planned after-dinner-liquid-snack and if that helps.

I'm feeling good today. Not at all hungry and enjoying my hot tea at the moment. I'm thinking about attempting an all liquid DD today, and will see how the day goes for my final decision. 5+ so far.

I am planning some cabbage soon to end a DD that I'll give a 4.

Was a bit hungry this morning, but a couple of coffees sorted that, then did okay while driving to our Westcountry home. Found a good wrap at 217 cals.

Bit peckish now though.

My DD is a 5 so far. I've had a BPC (reduced amounts, of course) and am sipping on some sf hot chocolate right now. It's almost 2 in the afternoon and hunger has been amazingly minimal. I have a ladies night out thing tonite, so I'm trying to save calories for that.

It's a 5 here and I'm feeling lots of energy so doing some much needed house work.

So far I've had coffee with half and half in it for about 60 calories. Slurping down the ice water and hoping the rest of the day goes as well.

So far a good one. Very busy packing and getting ready to leave tomorrow, plus the bonus fun of trying on a few tops that were a bit snug in the Fall, but fit fine now! Found a potential problem with my new health insurance (grrrr.....) that took up a bit of time on the phone to resolve, but I'm so glad I checked on it before I left, since if I happen to need it while I'm gone, it would've been much harder to straighten out. I'm being brave and taking some pants that are "just" comfortable - usually I pack only loose ones on vacations. But I'm planning to stay on plan completely for the first 10 days while we're in the condo...then it's a cruise and all bets are off. I usually do okay food wise, but it's the adult beverages that get me there.

Penguin, I took some smallish pants with me on a trip when I started Juddd the first time. It was an excellent move. They were baggy by the time I returned home.
5 here, physically. 3.85 psychologically.
I ate cabbage and two eggs mid afternoon. No hunger, but when I eat and then MAKE myself stop for the day, I am consumed by a kind of crankiness that does not occur on liquid DDs. I have no explanation for this. If anybody else does, I'd love to hear it.
Hoping tomorrow's UD goes sanely.

I'll give it a 5, and kudos to all of us who work so hard to have great DDs. Kristin, sometimes after I eat on DDs, I lose the DD "high". Maybe that is what is happening...it doesn't stop me from eating though.

I'm trying to eat my 2 oz of chicken very slowly right now lol.

Kristin: I think I relate to what you are saying. Except I get more depressed than cranky. If I eat and then make myself stop, I kind of grieve for the "carefree" days of just stuffing myself endlessly late into the day whenever I want to with whatever I want to. It kind of helped for you to make me realize that is what goes on.

I have not eaten anything solid today. I'm drinking lemon water right now. I'm cooking awesome pork chops and rice for DH. They smell insanely delicious, but since I have not eaten today I don't think I'll be tempted to eat them. Right now I'm just enjoying the pleasant aroma in the house and feeling proud that I stayed at a solid 5 all day.

Cindy: I get it! I'm going to remember that. If I give in and eat on a DD I'm going to lose that magic DD high for the day. I definitely felt it today. I felt a lot of energy which I used to do some house cleaning. In addition to energy I felt really, really happy. Happy that I have a plan and at least for today I'm sticking to it! Also happy that this plan lets me have a three day weekend where I didn't have to freak out because I "cheated". I did not cheat. It was an "adjustment" because JUDD is flexible.

Thanks Cindy, Yam.
If weight loss were possible doing liquid DDs followed by uuads, I'd be all set. That combo comes pretty easily.
I feel excellent on liquid DDs, but man, I am ravenous and bottomless-pit empty the next day, which leads to huge UDs.
So I'm trying a bit of food on DDs even though I become a bit insane afterwards.

I love learning from you guys.
