DD8. Good so far. Was concerned because I'm in another city, visiting friends, at restaurants, etc., and no hard boiled eggs to be had. Coffee all day so far and feeling wonderful.
My losses my be slower by having UDs that exceed the recommendations, but I feel far less stressed this way. If this takes longer but continues to feel this good, I will be one happy woman.

My DD yesterday was around 750, a bit higher than I wanted but not quite a MD. Over all the calorie count has been low all week so I'm going ahead with my up day. I have to say that in the end of the year months (Oct, Nov, Dec) where weight gain is the norm, I'm losing...oh so slowly but at least it's a loss.
I'm trying hard not to sweat the small stuff.

I'm hoping for a good DD today. I am going to try to hold out eating as long as possible. So far i am having a cup of coffee with cocoa and peppermint extract.
I have a oat fiber chocolate muffin and gluc/gelatin pudding if i need it and Im sure i will!!!
At least they are very low cal. If i can keep it under 300 that will be awesome!!
I feel very bloated today. I ate too many cookies yesterday on my UD. I have to make myself watch my carbs on my UD's and not eat tons of crappy carbs. That is really hard with JUDDD. Its a total head thing though. Its all in our heads and what we tell ourselves we can or cant eat or will or wont eat!!!
I'm going to be strong today and drink lots of water and lots of coffee and tea.

WTG on losing rather than gaining! I like your attitude of trying not to sweat the small stuff. I need to remind myself that.

I had a really good first month on JUDD and lost well, so it's natural that the losses this month will be slower and throw the holidays in on top of that, but I still want to see good numbers when I step on the scale!

My DD is going well. I don't have any trouble until evening and then the snack monster sets in. Really need to find some ways to overcome that.

MaryEllen, thank you for saying that. What works for me (in lieu of the snack monster) is a highly spiced hot drink. Cinnamon herb tea like Good Earth or chicken broth with tabasco sauce. Nothing like hot broth and peppers to set your tongue on fire and make you forget about snacking. Add to that a giant glass of water. Another good one is popcorn with tabasco if you have enough leftover calories. I never do.

Blonde slow is fine, losing anything at all through these holiday months is a triumph.

Adi, sorry you had such a tough DD, we will never understand our metabolisms.

My DD has been fine, I have had just one cup of soya coffee after my gym session. It is 5.30 now and I am going to have cup of tea. Planning on some cold lamb later, feeling the need for protein.

Just a few rumbles but lots of energy so I'll give it 5.

My DD always goes well at work during the day - it's when I get home from work that there is trouble. I want to stick to 350 calories or less, so have a plan to run to the store and then work on some gift wrapping after my meal. If I can keep my hands and mind busy I'm ok. I just want to end December no higher than when I started. What a gift to myself that will be!

I posted this on the daily chat, but thought I would post it here, too. The statement came from Alternate Day Fasting author Krista Varady's FB site......

"Can I break up the 500-600 calorie lunch into a 150-200 calorie breakfast, lunch and dinner...OR have the whole 500 calorie meal at dinner instead of lunch?"

Just to update anyone new to the page...We are currently running a study to see whether breaking up the lunch time meal on the fast day leads to better adherence to the diet, and greater weight loss. Although the study is still underway, at this stage, we are noticing higher dropout rates in the group consuming these "small meals" versus the group consuming the meal as a lunch. Most individuals find it difficult to only eat 150-200 calories for each meal, which leads them to cheat (eat extra calories at each meal) or quit the diet all together. So at this stage, I would recommend eating the 500 calories as one meal (generally around lunch time).

Alternatively, if dinner works better for you, please go ahead and consume the 500 calorie meal in the evening. Best of luck!''

I managed to keep really busy yesterday and then had a small chicken salad for dinner. One of my best DD in quite a while. I won't have another good one until Tuesday, though as there is just too much going on the next several days. That's for ACK!!! Not laughing!

I saw that too, Seabreezes, and I'll be interested in their final findings, but I'm not at all surprised to hear what they're seeing so far. That's exactly how it works for me. I love being able to eat something that seems close to a normal, albeit lo-cal, dinner on DDs, and skimping most of the day really helps me do that.

Good day, although it's been a bit harder due to too many friggin' carbs last night. I don't know why staying low carb can be so satisfying and yet, when the holidays come, it's like I forget I'm trying to the body good.

Today is an UD for me. So far, ok. Yesterday was a DD and I did well. I have stuck to two dd for the past two weeks and have not seen a change in the scale. I might have to bump it up to 3. I have also not eaten all my calories on UD.

This is a 5 for me so far today. I've been super busy, so that really helps. I'm looking forward to a nice, big salad tonight. Hopefully it will keep me full enough to get through the evening w/o snacking. Now that there are holiday goodies around, it's a little tougher.

You guys are doing so well!!!
I'm doing pretty good here too.
I have had almost all of my shake and only half of my cabbage.
My shake is only 1/2 cup almond milk with water, gluc, gelatin, coffee and English toffee syrup.
It is about 50 calories.
My cabbage lunch is 100 calories and I only half of that so im doing way better than I ever thought I would.
I'll have the rest of my cabbage for dinner or half cup of greek yogurt.

I'm feeling great about this DD. I wish they could all be like this!!!

This is my last DD before vacation so I've tried to keep it low. I've been hungry today, but I had a yogurt and half of a mini bagel. I'm at the hair salon now and I'm sure I'll pass out as soon as I get home because I'm exhausted.

A cruise sounds so nice, Lisa! Congrats to everyone on good DDs, and for striving through the bad ones.

My DD has gone very well. I had a baked potato for lunch w/1 T of SCQ for about 160 cals, and I am ending the day at 522 cals, and that was with a spoonful of chocolate/peanut butter ice cream! I can't believe I just appreciated the spoonful and didn't eat anymore. I have felt satisfied and energetic all day, so I call it a win although not terribly low cals for a DD.

I had to have 2 DDs in a row. Stupid, really--I got stuck doing errands through lunchtime, and the company party was last night, so I waited to eat...and it got so late I wasn't hungry, even after a glass of champagne. Ate some shrimp, about 350 calls for both days. Looking forward to a nice UD today to re-stoke the fires.

Morning everyone!

Seabreezes~ I have discovered that I do better w/ one main meal. All the 'small bites' leave me unsatisfied and wanting more.

Nilla~ Carbs on an UD leave me starving on a DD, too. I have felt much better this last week, limiting carbs and eliminating sugar.

Challenging DD today...I have a Pie Supper to attend. If my niece from Australia wasn't in town for Christmas, I would avoid it. Also, Winter Festival at my granddaughter's school, so at least I'll be busy.

Going to make an A-1 effort to finish below 500.

So glad everyone had a good DD yesterday. Mine was great. Even though I had a gimlet last night I still ended up with only about 400 calories for the day with the shot of gin.

Have a great time on your cruise Lisa.
I just got back from one about 3 weeks ago. It was fantastic. It was my honeymoon so that made it even better!!! I did pretty well but still gained a few pounds. You cant help it on a cruise. There is so much wonderful food. I didn't worry about things too much. I didn't over do it but I did enjoy some of the wonderful desserts onboard. I just tried to stay active and take the stairs any time I could.
Have a great time!!!

That's my game plan too. I plan on using the gym in the morning even if it's just a quick walk on a the treadmill. I know I'll be swimming and walking around at all the sites, but all that freaking food always gets me. I'm not a big breakfast eater, but somehow I always find myself on the omelet line in the morning. I am looking forward to being more conscious of what is going into my mouth for the first time in FOREVER.

I'm so glad you enjoyed your cruise. The honeymooners are my favorites. I hope you played the Newlywed game. I can't wait to sip a Virgin Pina Colada and sit out on the lido deck.
