Me too, not a fan of Sunday DDs! Mine actually, having said that, is going quite well. No appetite to speak of. I've had 1 oz HWC in coffee and 1 oz cream cheese so far at 3pm. Not bad!

I am going to try the taters next. Another relatively miserable DD for me again. I am great all morning, but the hunger was at me all afternoon. I TRY so hard to get to that 338 mark, but once again, no way. Ended up at 427- which I KNOW is fine. I would just like to make it work at the 338. Then I can decide - and actually choose which is more manageable.
I have to say I felt very whooshy last night, but I am afraid I might have negated it with too much wine (fun run this morning!). Still was down .4 and hit a new low, which is always exciting and rewarding.
Tomorrow is another day!
Thanks, as always for your support.

Hungry today. I have had 400 cal and this has been a tough one. I can't wait for breakfast I will have it at 10:00 a.m. I am trying to eat in an 8 hr window. This is the toughest dd that I have had. Sure wish bedtime would hurry

I am feeling your pain GK! I have been thinking about breakfast all evening and wondering how early I can eat it. I am, like you, trying to keep an 8 or 6 hour window. We will see how it goes tomorrow. Fortunately, sometimes I go to bed hungry and wake up fine. Fingers crossed!

You're in induction. The major points of induction include:
  • learning to manage your rotations and iron out snags you might encounter
  • up-regulating and down-regulating various genes that Johnson/Mottson's research indicates are helpful.
Eat the higher calories if it's going to help you through your induction period because nowhere, on any list, does this include being miserable - and that is more likely to derail you. It's a small no. of calories you discuss and Johnson mentions starting out at 500kcals. Please eat what you need to for your DD as it's early days and it's the difference between it and the UD that counts.

When you mention eating potato, do you mean as a DD hack?

I don't remember when you started but I have the feeling that you've been following induction for less than a week? (I may be wrong, if so, the rest may not be wholly relevant). If so, it may be too early in JUDDD for you to be adding in the 8hr window as well?

It's important to establish good rotations and experience working out snags (e.g., I was caught out a couple of times when I needed to take some pain relief with food and had to re-work my DD to allow this). After induction, and when you've had the chance to observe the impact of the previous 2 weeks, then is usually an occasion for altering your numbers or making a small tweak. It's easier to assess the impact of one change at a time: if you're during a 16/8 window as well, during induction, it's trickier to understand the influence and relative contribution of these various actions. I don't know, but it may also be making your DD a little bit trickier to manage in these early days than it needs to be.

Thank you so much SS for taking the time to respond and providing me so much good feedback.
While i am new to JUDDD and in my second week, the previous five weeks I did 5:2 at 500 calories. While they aren't the same, I did feel like my experience with that would help. I also started 16:8 a couple weeks into it.
BUT, that being said, I also started a bunch of other stuff too. I tend to go a bit overboard! Part of starting a WOE for me is to immerse myself: read all the blogs, look at different websites, incorporate as many tools into my weight loss as possible and it is a bit manic of me.
The rationale part of me knows I should just set my DD at 425. That is where I seem to end up. But the other part of me refuses to give up on 325. Stubborn, in a good way, for now! Also, if I need to eat outside my "window" I will.
I assure you, I am not giving up. The scales are moving, slow, slow, slow, BUT they are moving and that is what continues to motivate me. And I think JUDDD is just what I needed!

5 today... Busy again at work, so not much time to remember being hungry. LOL

It's 90+ degrees outside, and I CAN'T WAIT to go for my run/walk after work. The hotter, the better baby!

I'm having a very hungry DD today. I don't know if it's this 95 degree heat and all the water I'm drinking is just not sustaining me today or if i just want to eat.

Are you craving anything in particular like salty food? Thankfully, it's UD for me but I'm glowing* so profusely and non-stop that I've drunk litres of water and had pangs for all sorts of things. I'm not hungry but it's the salt I seem to need, so I've had some broth with added salt and when DH arrives home, I might add some capers, olives and anchovies to tonight's dinner for the salt.

*Horses sweat, gentlemen perspire, ladies merely glow. Apparently. This doesn't begin to cover my present state.

I had a great morning. Felt no hunger, no low BS, not sleepy. then BAM 1:00 hit and out of no where the hungries came and cranky and whiny came along with it. But overall I'm feeling like 3.75 at the moment. I think it's a better DD than I've had in a while. I'm facing a challenge later (a nearly 4 hour drive without any muncies to keep me company) so I may be adjusting this later tonight.

You'll do fine Andy. What I always try to remember (and it sometimes actually works!) when the munchies, or "head hunger" hits, is how truly important losing this weight is to me. That it's way more important than a momentary satisfaction of a craving. You can do it!

I don't want to jinx this but I am having as close to a 5 as I can. Went running this morning and after lots of water had 3T of coconut milk in my coffee (WHOEVER SUGGESTED THIS THANK YOU!). It is 3:30 and I decided it was time to have my protein drink. I feel a little "empty" and it isn't comfortable or uncomfortable, but at this point I am thinking it may be my first 325 day. If not, that is cool too.

I'm not actually craving anything in particular. I just have that hunger feeling which has gotten a little better since I ate lunch. I'm going to leave work soon to run some errands and head to the gym. So hopefully keeping busy will make the evening go smoother.

Appetite is fine, no issues. All I want, however, is a very cool shower but I doubt we'll have the time before leaving for the cinema.

I left some cream out to ferment with creme fraiche - I might need to stick it in some cool water if the house temperature is too high. Likewise my sourdough ferments are probably developing heat exhaustion

And I love the heat.

Probably a 4 or so. I feel hunger from time to time but it goes away within a few minutes and some water or tea. I realized I was eating lunch at my normal time on DD's even if I wasn't really hungry yet, so today I'm actually going to wait until I need it. I'm sure that will help out in the evening!

I so hope that this last part will be true for me. We're due to visit some friends at the close of August to help them with their garden opening that weekend so we're spending about 5 days there. I normally cook lunch and dinner when I stay with people and these are the only friends with whom I don't do that (I just prepare one meal a day either lunch/dinner).

The food there is so good (all of the meat, fowl, produce is from literally neighbouring farms and smallholdings) that it's usual to come back a little heavier than one went. Any DD that falls will definitely be a higher DD.

Hmmm, I agree with you guys, but with the aforementioned "stubborn" nature of mine, I never know how I will end up doing on vacas. Sometimes I am ridiculously rigid about being on plan, sometimes I just eat moderately and worry about it later. I suspect I will do as I did on my "girls" trip in May & just eat "loosely" Juddd. I was thinking of making my travel days fasting days and higher DDs thrown in somewhere. We'll see!!! Since this is a largely unplanned road trip, who knows what food will even be around!
