I'm MIA

Sorry I'm MIA but it's going to continue for a while. Life is bonking me on the head right now.

I'm all about pain management right now with some serious back issues. I do NOT want to have surgery. So, it's drugs, drugs, rest, physical therapy. Deja vu all over again.

I'm supposed to be leaving for Pennsylvania in 10 days to spend 2 weeks with my siblings and extended family. Three of my siblings are having serious health problems and I fear they won't be on earth much longer. I need to spend quality time with all of them and cherish it while I can.

Worried about the long plane ride. Hopefully muscle relaxers and pain meds will get me through!

Sorry to be a downer! The rest of my life is going good except I'm bummed that I can't do much. We are still in the process of moving (long story) and I was making serious progress on de-cluttering until the old back injury flared up.

I'm 90 miles away from my doctor now and too much in pain to travel that far. Going to have to keep using Urgent Care until I can establish a new local doc. So far the ones I've called are booked up until mid May.

OK!! Enough whining!

I'm going to take some time to read up on how all of you are doing.

I might be out of touch for up to a month. But, I'll be back when the time is right!

That sounds wretched. Travelling with back pain is horrid and every little thing about it becomes an endurance trial.

I've been wondering about you Yam, but was hoping you were on one of your travel adventures. I'm so sorry your back is hurting you so much! That is miserable. I really hope you can make your planned trip w/o too much discomfort, and can enjoy your precious family members. We miss you too!

Yam dearie,
search online for Svaroopa yoga in your area and go give it a try. It is not exercise, but therapeutic for BACKS. I am without pain for the first time in years.
Hugs- and don't let the pain rule your mind. The teacher can give you some things to do at home, while traveling, etc to help.

Im so sorry to hear about your family.3 very sick siblings would be a very hard thing to deal with.Hope your trip is a good one.

and gives you lots of good quality time together.Sorry about your back too,I been there and back pain and the immobility it can cause are very trying.Praying you find an answer besides surgery.

Yam Yam, it seems to me b_lou_who had a good idea. I'd like to think you were seeing someone who was listening and thinking well for you personally rather than just urgent care folks, no matter how caring they are in their quick attention. Maybe the trip would be easier if you had ideas for traveling without pain. ((Hugs)) to you! We were so delighted to see the photos last time of your get-together with your siblings. I am sorry about your siblings too. I remember you having such a ball with a couple of your sisters last year.

My friend ended up having back surgery and she said it was the best decision she ever made, as her pain virtually disappeared. You might not want to rule that option out completely

I'm so sorry for your pain! I am one who's had back surgery & I'm so glad that I did. I've been pain free ever since! I also hope your siblings get better soon. Enjoy your time with them, then come back to us! We'll be here for you!!

I'm sorry you're struggling with pain right now. I know it can really get you down. I've already said prayers that God will heal you and comfort you while you go through this. It'll get better, one way or another.

I also had spine surgery and it was tremendously helpful- I'm not pain-free, but I don't use a walker anymore.

Ask for a wheelchair in the airport- it can be a real life saver and usually gets you through security much quicker.

I hope you can enjoy time with your siblings.
