I often don't eat (or have my coffee/cream) until 10 or 11 am, both DDs and UDs. I've never been a breakfast person. I LOVE breakfast foods, just not crazy about eating very early in the morning.

I wouldn't worry about it. If you stall, you might want to play around with eating earlier and see what you body does with it. But if it's your natural rhythm, I'd just go with it!

I usually eat around 7:00 a.m. on my UDs, though I get up at 4:30 a.m., so it's not "first thing in the morning" for me. We're all different. As long as you're losing, I wouldn't worry about it.

Thanks,I'm a early riser too(5am) but I drink coffee and then go take care of the horses first so breakfast ends up being 9 or 10.I didnt know if there was a rule to how many hrs. a DD should be,but I will probably stick with what im doing for now.I feel good and im losing some.

Ya,im still losing some(though much slower now) but i think it has more to do with being closer to goal than anything else.

Hello.
I'm sorry to burst in out of nowhere here but I thought I'd add my 2¢.
I briefly tried JUDDD last year with no success as I was trying to eat small meals throughout the day that added up to my DD allowance. That so didn't work for me.
I got back on the horse again yesterday and waited until 5pm to eat ONE hearty dinner for my DD and it was a complete success. I realized that once I begin eating I want to keep eating but if I can put it off, I'm ok.
So it was 24 hours since my last meal the day before.

Kh155! That is exactly what I do on DDs too. The longer I wait to eat anything solid, the better goes my DD.

I don't have a set time to begin eating on UDs. It's usually by 10 am, and not always something healthy. Today it was a bag of cheetos. On DDs I usually don't eat before 1:30 pm, and then try to keep my calories below 200 before I get home from work. Then I like to have a 100-150 calorie dinner, depending on how many cals I have left to use. Last night I was able to have a little over 200 cals for supper, and it was nice.

I don't eat at all on DDs and I try to stop eating by 7 on UDs so I usually eat a little earlier on UDs, but always a full 36 hours no matter what I do. So if I eat later on my last UD I'll eat later on my next DD. I've done JUDDD so many times now that I know this works best for me.

Either way. At least 36 hours, maybe more.

I have no rule but it is often not until 4pm or even later. Today was 7.30 pm.

If I do feel hungry I always try to wait a while before eating.

Well, I am kind of a newbie here, but I will chime in as well.

I get up at 4, have couple cups of coffee and maybe a 25 calorie diet hot choc until I take lunch at 11. I will then eat 166 calorie sandwich. On days that I am home, I try and wait until dinner around 5 or 6 pm.

There are times that I start feeling like I am getting a headache, so when I do this, I will eat something.

Today, I will wind up at 371, so not to bad.

I appreciate all the answers but think I made my post more confusing than necessary, should have asked when do you have your 1st UD meal(breaking the DD fast)

Oh, well in that case ...

Almost as soon as I wake at 8am.
I'm very fresh at this though and I'm not sure if it's better to wait until later or not.

I'm interested in the answers you get.

My answer to that is, whenever I get hungry. I never wait until lunch, and couldn't imagine waiting until dinner on a regular basis. I don't think eating 1800 calories for dinner would feel very good.

ETA: I eat later sometimes on the weekend, when we have plans to do something in the morning/mid morning hours. Then, I might wait until lunch, unless you consider drinking coffee w/HWC breakfasting. I have coffee almost every morning.

I just restarted, but I eat breakfast on UD's because I don't get a chance to have lunch before 3:30 or 4:00 pm. If I waited until late afternoon to eat on an UD, that would stretch out my DD to nearly 46 hours.

On UDs I sometimes have just coffee/cream (about an ounce = 100 calories). Then I might have a greek yogurt mid-morning. Very occasionally I'll have some fried eggs. Other mornings I just have the coffee/cream and then wait until lunch to eat. Depends on whether I need to conserve calories for later in the day or not.

What about the question: when does your body go into starvation mode and stop the weight loss - at what time does that occur. I.e. at 42 hours your body starts holding onto calories..I know there is a number somewhere?

36-40 hours seems to be the standard estimation, but there's been plenty of research that indicates it could be days, or even fewer than 36 hours. We're each so different, that I don't think there's any way to pinpoint a time frame.

I usually have dinner around 6:30pm or 7pm on a DD. then I have my yogurt around 8pm.

I usually don't eat breakfast, so I'll eat an early lunch or a 2 part lunch starting around 11am or 11:30, or I hold out for lunch around 12.

so that's about 16hrs from the end of food on DD to the start of food on UD.

did I answer the question right?

I agree. As long as we are not skimping UD calories, I doubt that we need to get so technical about it!

Yup.^^^^
I usually don't eat till after 7pm on my UD. Sometimes I have a yogurt at 1pm or 2pm, but I prefer to eat a nice dinner and then a snack before bed on UDs. My UD is only 1580 so I can easily eat over 1000 for a nice dinner and then 250 for a snack. The rest was used for half and half in my coffee.

I think Dr. Mosley mentioned that going into starvation mode can take 72 hours. I'd have to watch the video again to be sure.

I actually think for most of us in wealthy nations are not at risk for starvation mode the way we tend to think we are. I'm not so sure we go into starvation mode that quickly especially if we have stored fuel (fat).

That is not to say that we should do three DDs in a row, since that is not how juddd works and will probably cause a decrease in juddd magic. Especially the benefit of eating what we want, with in reason, eod and losing weight.

Everyone is different and I guess starvation mode may happen quicker for others, but if we are generally healthy and not severely underweight we probably don't have to worry about true starvation mode.

Again, juddd works beautifully with eod and eating DD calories for a few days in a row would not be juddd, just a calorie restricted diet without all the juddd benefits.

Starvation mode is caused by low calorie dieting.

A short fast doesn't cause starvation. True fasting, however, involves water only and no calories. Joel Fuhrman's book, Fasting and Eating for Health explains the biochemical differences very clearly.
