Good morning
I'm trying to work backwards planning this day.

I know my husband wants chicken fajitas for supper. Because we like them heavy on the bell pepper and onion, they will not be so caloric as they will be FULL of sodium. (look out) I did buy the reduced sodium fajita seasoning from Ortega, so that's in my favor.

Don't want to blow up like a water-filled balloon by the end of my UD, (and fajitas will definitely do that to me). But also don't want to have to be chintzy with my own serving tonight, so I'm going to have some lower-sodium choices for other meals, including a fruit breakfast.

Yesterday's 1/2 pear, berry and protein powder smoothie, and evening oatmeal/coconut oil, with fingerling potatoes as snacks, was a very good DD I want to repeat sometime.

I'm going to have a controlled UD today! Shouldn't be a problem - TOM is gone and I'm feeling better in control. And am planning ahead so no surprises.

B: Coffee/HWC and FF greek yogurt
L: pepperoni slices and swiss cheese
D: wine, steak, salad (tomato, cucumber, red onion w/red wine vinegar/OO dressing)
D: maybe a few Dove chocolates

Total - around 2200 calories

I had coffee and popcorn for breakfast. Haha - I am so strange!! For lunch I am having soup. Dinner I am not completely sure about - I am craving pizza, but DB is feeling under the weather. I don't think I am going to my weekly trivia game tonight, so will not be having my weekly beer. That's fine, though. I'll just have to find another way to get those calories in!

Happy UD all! Hope it's a good one for everyone!

Hi ladies and gents, here is today's upday menu but also a HUGE recommendation for an absolutely nummy shrimp salad that I had yesterday on my DD.

Feast Day:

B. Baked potato, green onions, turkey li'l smokies

L. Lox, lowfat cream cheese, rye krisp, small side salad

D. Home made whole grain mini margherita pizza (fresh tomatoes and mozzarella).

I wanted to tell you about the most fabulous salad I ate for DD last night. It 's even perfect for a holiday dinner.

I am new, so i'm not sure what the policy is about inserting links in this post, but if you want to Google it, the dish is called "Grilled Shrimp Avocado Fennel and Orange Salad" on the Skinnytaste website.

I am a real foodie and I was bowled over by this crisp salad with orange vinaigrette. It was very filling and came in at 283.5 calories a serving.

My husband who is a recent JUDDD convert, was thrilled. He works hard all day and comes home pretty hungry on his DD.

Great news, DH has gone from 322 lbs to 303 in just 19 days! He will soon be under the 300 pound mark -- a number he hasn't seen in over 15 years. Yay!

L/Cyn

L: Banh Mi (I didn't have this yesterday, so I'm planning on getting one today)
D: ?? Keira's school is having open house tonight, so we'll probably eat on the way home. The possibilities are endless.

LCG is spot on here in relation to both the recipe and your DH's impressive losses. I hope he enjoys revisiting his weight and shape from 15 years ago.

Meh, only just managed to have my lunch on my way home to get myself ready to go to the gym. On the upside, oxtail soup conceals extra gelatine very well.

I'm wondering about turning today into an MD because I don't have time to eat my dinner this evening. (We're away for the weekend so need to do some shopping to bring with us.)

Black bean chili...a favorite recipe. I can whip it together out of cans in minutes for company if need be, but it's best in summer, with brined/soaked beans from scratch and all fresh veg. No fat whatsoever, till i top it with greek yogurt and a bit of cheese...and then there's the chips. Ideally i'd fry up my own, but i'm going with tostitos multigrain.

And if I have chips, i gotta make a little guacamole and salsa...I'll still come in under 1900 for a big meal, grazing and a couple Lite beers. I am WOUND UP, and it's my night off.

I tried your baked potato with cottage cheese and salsa last night. Keira and DH liked it too. I never would have come up with that combination on my own.

Glad you liked it. I don't think I would have ever tried cottage cheese on baked potatoes if DH didn't eat his that way. I just never thought of it but when he asked for cottage cheese for his baked potato I thought he was joking but that is how we both eat them now.

I wanted to say "nice to meet you" to Cyn, Never Too Late. Cyn, if would be wonderful if you or your dh would share your dh's loss in a new thread here. I know everyone is always inspired by a success story, especially so when a man has such a good success. Wow, compared to us it sometimes seems that men lose so quickly, doesn't it!

Thanks ladies for all your kind comments about hubby's weight loss. I am so proud of him. He has been burning up the sidewalk walking the dog, and then comes home and jumps on the recumbent bike for 30 minutes until the sweat literally pours off of him. As for me, I barely ride for 10 minutes before pooping out, smile.

I would love to share his future weight loss stats with you all -- I will ask him what he thinks. He might be shy to get on the forum himself and post, but I am sure he wouldn't mind at all if I share his success.

I've lost 8 pounds in about 23 days, which is fantastic for me, since I have been on a strict "diet" since January 1st of this year and barely lost any weight in the time frame from January until I joined JUDDD in late March. I was doing a stringent keto diet, sort of Paleo style, and the weight would not budge. It was very disheartening.

I blame my past difficulty losing weight on my age (post-menopausal) plus I have always been insulin resistant since day one. But now it seems, through the miracle of JUDDD, I am losing about a pound every other day and I simply cannot believe it! I am so grateful to have found this WOE and so very happy that my husband chose to join me in alternate day fasting after viewing Michael Mosely's BBC documentary on fasting and longevity.

L/Cyn

MD for me.

B- dunkn donuts flat bread w egg whites (150), plum (35) and half a fiber brownie (45)
L- salad works springfit salad (215) half a wheat roll(78)

AND here is where it fell apart .....
6 mini candies (360) and part of a soft pretzel (230) during a mid afternoon slump.

That mid afternoon stupidity nearly derailed my MD. Sitting at 1142 calories and had to skip dinner. Did 3 miles on the treadmill instead. Ugh. And I had a nice dinner planned too. Stupid. Stupid. Stupid.

I like the sound of that lunch, very fresh and Spring-like.

I have to admit that my British sensibilities made me shrink a little in horror at the thought of a frosting shot Which is odd, because the ingredients are similar to a (vegan) chocolate mousse and I wouldn't find that at all odd. Instinctive reactions are unaccountably odd at times.

I assume that you had to chill the coconut milk to make all the coconut cream part of the coconut milk separate out at the top and then use that? (Thai friends always do that when using coconut cream for curries in the UK, they always chill and use the 'set' cream part, ignoring the water from the milk.)

Ok - bumping this old thread for a very important frosting question (VIFQ). I finally got to the store today to get coconut milk and found light coconut milk at 250 calories for the can. Librarygirl do you think that would work for the chocolate frosting?

TJ, I'm not sure. You'll know after you refrigerate it (open in the can). If it doesn't get almost solid, it probably won't work. If you're trying to save calories, you can just limit your servings. I still have enough for at least 5 more servings left.

TJ, I don't think it will work as well. The "light" version Is basically just diluted with more water, and it's the fat that whips up. If you do try it, though, let us know how it turns out
