Question maybe someone can help answer!
I can't really find a solid answer, even in Johnson's book. So from what I gather, weight loss happens with JUDDD bc of calorie restriction, correct? Is there anything magical that happens when we FAST (not JUST calorie restriction)? I am having a hard time wrapping my brain around the fact that JUDDD is merely calorie restriction.

Can someone please help? I am almost convinced to start this WOE, I just have some lingering thoughts. Thank you! This board is one of the nicest and helpful!

I'm on my phone..So I can't go into too much detail but in a nutshell it deals with the SIRT gene and alternate fasting keeps your metabolism revved up more so than other diets where after your bosy gets accustomed to that woe it slows down... This basically jolts your system every other day ...sorry couldn't offer more...but I'm in a rush Haha....

The spread in between the two days keeps the body fooled, plus once the Sirt1 gene kicks in, it helps with appetite suppression. Especially once you learn which foods will keep you satisfied on a DD. If you take your DD cals, UD cals, they come to what you'd have daily on a regular calorie reduction diet. It's the swing between the two that keeps the metabolism going.

Someone will come along with the scientific stuff on why fasting is good (there's also some stickies at the top of this board on the benefits of fasting).

I love JUDDD and have had success at losing in the past, but admittedly I'm just not losing this time around. If you decide to try it, give it a good 2 weeks or a month to see how it goes. The Sirt1 gene kicking in seems to vary from person to person on how long it takes.

This is a great board!!

Part of the magic, for me at least, is getting to enjoy any food under the sun, and at a higher calorie level (every other day) than I would with regular calorie restriction.

The sirtuins also give people appetite suppression, reduced inflammation, a general feeling of well-being, energy . . . the list goes on and on.

If you do a search on the juddd threads for "JUDDD Magic" you can probably read a whole bunch about SIRTs and the benefits many of us get from juddding. Like some have said: Appetite suppression, increased energy, mental clarity, "juddd calm", reduced inflamation of all types and the ability to lose weight only dieting half the time.
