I got real serious about exercise at the beginning of January. I will admit that since February I have been losing very slowly. I've been switching things up and trying to get it to speed up a bit. I would love to be able to do a 5k one day in less than 35 min! I am a very slow jogger! I rarely do it though, like once every 2-3 weeks. There was a time I think in early February when it almost killed me to jog two different 1/4 mile segments in a total of a mile. Then a month later in early March I jogged a mile after one of my usual workouts. I did a 5k on the treadmill on 3/23 in just under 41 min, I jogged different parts of it, but believe the jogging component was about 50/50. So that shows you how often I work on it, the conclusion is that all my other workouts are getting me in shape and improving my endurance even when it comes to running. My friend and I are planning to make it a weekly habbit though!

From past experience though, just make sure you push yourself a little further each time and eventually you'll break through a wall and it won't be so lung bustingly hard!

TJ, look at those lovely down days and all that exercise. It is completely baffling why the scale isn't moving. I don't know if I'm allowed to link this here, but if you Google "Atkins stall" the first result is a well done and informative article that applies to all weight loss, not just Atkins. (They also have an article on plateaus.) From what I can see, you are doing brilliantly, and I don't know what the scale is doing, but you are clearly doing well! The only thing I'm wondering about is the combo of the MDs with the low DDs and the exercise ... I remember you said you are trying to go back to what was working which included MDs, but did you combine them with the very low DDs? Just a thought. I don't know if it's that or "just because," but I want to give you lots of of solidarity. You are doing well no matter what the (expletive censored) scale says!!

Thanks Christina - I will def Google that article and I soooo appreciate the ideas and support I get here. I feel like such a whiner but I am at my wits end and its JBs like you that keep me trying, give me encouragement and give me ideas and tips to try and make this a workable weight loss solution. Right now it seems that no matter what I do I am stuck. Well, not technically true - I could manage to GAIN weight quite easily. It's the losing part that is escaping me. This is my 3rd DD-MD-UD rotation and I was initially encouraged by some early results that seem to have reversed themselves but it is early days yet. I am going to give it at least 4 full rotations before I consider the dreaded LC/JUDDD combo that may be in my future. I just don't want to go there. I LIKE my carbs plus I moved to JUDDD when Atkins stopped working for me over a year ago so not sure that is the answer anyway. <sigh>

I admire you so much for not letting the frustration lead to quitting, because as aggravating as this is ... you (and I) are not gaining, and that is important!!! Good idea to continue the experiment for a reasonable length before making a change. If you do decide to go lower carb, you might be able to make a difference with something that's more carbs than traditional LC, but less than what we all tend to have if we're not paying attention. Kind of a compromise. That's what I'm trying to do (for blood sugar) although I do take days off here and there. We'll figure this out.

Away over the weekend and I probably ate about 700-800 more kcals over the weekend, and the majority of those from the less-helpful carb group, than I normally would. In addition to the rebound water gain from my previous low carb glycogen and water drop, the walking and sight-seeing means that I have yet more swelling around my knees and some of my back. But we had a lovely time and the setting was idyllic.

It may well take me until the end of the month before I can fully begin my leptin reset which is a nuisance but there's no point doing it incorrectly/half-heartedly.

TJ, do you keep a food diary? It might be what you eat rather than the calories – eg not necessarily carbs but maybe the type of carbs.
Do you eat processed or junk food with artificial sweetener and flavouring?
Something seems to be making your body hang on to water. A food log might help you spot what it is.
And are you drinking lots of water?!?

Christina, if your ring's stuck, you're definitely due a whoosh.

Patience and Perseverance rules, ok - and don't be governed by a number on the scales!

I had to change my rotations, so I did two DD's in a row last week and it wasn't too bad. Going to do it again this week to change my rotations again. I know a lot of people here aren't fans of it but I prefer it to a MD.
