Cindy, have a marvelous trip to Turkey and do be safe! Your idea of having rotations and building up all the SIRTs you can is a great one!

Thank you everyone! Longest day of my life!! The surgery took longer than they thought, then they couldnt wake him up. Finally got him to recovery and they wouldnt let him go til he pee'd. So after a while they helped him up to go and try. He vomited and passed out from pain........uggghhh....our 3-4 hour day took almost 8 hours! But he is home and sleeping now!!

what did he have done?

It's funny, they make you fast and won't let you have a drink before surgery, then won't let you go til you pee...when you're totally dehydrated! But it's better than having to go to the ER at 3AM, because your sphincter is still shut down from anesthesia, and you're in serious pain from an overfilled bladder!

Thank you everyone!!! I finally got him to eat some buttered toast and he had some tea. He was sleeping for a while, but I woke him up and helped him walk around a bit. He wasnt happy about that but I told him he has to walk especially after surgery! I told him to sleep on the couch tonight. Pretty much because its within ear shot of my room and I can still keep an eye on him without making him feel like hes a baby.....you know how it goes with teens!!!

Thinking of you and your son, Tanya. Continuing prayers for recuperation. Thank you so much for checking in.

Hmmm... ... well, I'm an introvert and I'm not neurotic. I know a lot of extroverts who make me suspicious that THEY are, though! (Wait a minute, the suspicion may mean I'm neurotic... ...)

Honestly, though, wouldn't it be possible we change through our lives? I doubt we can be defined like that. I don't think I react to stressors the way I did when I was a younger woman. I'm much more likely to meet everything head on, now that I've been through my childbirth experiences! But I think everyone who knows me would say I'm still an introvert.

Ow, poor boy. He is lucky to have you Tanya, I am sure you are a wonderful mother. Glad it is all over now and I hope he heals quickly.

Enjoying a little warmth in the UK this afternoon. Hoping to get some more next week, can't wait to go now. Mani and pedi done, fake tan this evening with a repeat tomorrow.

Cats to their cattery tomorrow I don't like that bit. They'll be there for 4 weeks as we are only home for 1 week between Turkey and our Baltic train journey to St Petersburg. I will miss them but it isn't a good plan to bring them back home for just 5 nights.

Cindy, I know how you feel. That is always an impediment to vacations for us...boarding our animals. I don't like to do it, and don't very often. I'm sure your kitties will be fine though.

I know Cindy, but I always feel guilty. They are in a good place where they know them and as older cats they sleep most of the day. I'll be fine when I am away but the few days back here will be strange with the house 'empty'.

I know. My dogs and cats are my babies, and the house wouldn't be a home without them. It would be cleaner, but who needs that?

We have a cat sitter that comes to the house to feed our 5 when we go away. It's cheaper and easier than carting 5 of them to the vet!

Yay Dawn.....have a great time.

Kissa, we went from Marmaris to Antalya last May so were in Kas. Love the coastline along there. We flew into Daliman and out of Antalya. The hospital in Antalya is new and modern!, but please don't check it out.

Love the Hermitage, too. Great trips to look forward to. This is the first year in many that we haven't been traveling half the year. We are actually enjoying being home for a change! The plane trips are not fun anymore!

Safe travels everyone.

I second the pet/house sitter thing. If you can find a reliable person you trust, it's great. Take care of the pets, pick up the mail, water plants, and just having someone around so your place isn't obviously empty. I don't travel much, but the last time I did my bf watched my place and my pets. He said when he would take my dog out on walks, my pup would literally lead him on our regular route. If bf tried to go a different direction, pup would push him the "right" way!

That's too cute, tofu. I'm ashamed to say I don't walk my dogs nearly enough. However, they do know the route they like and would probably do the same!

If you don't walk them how do they go to the bathroom?

You mean you can't train them to push the elevator button?

ETA: Our cats don't use a litter box either...got rid of that a longgggggggggg time ago. It's easier for us too.

Unless you get a litter box for the dog. Or now they make this fake grass stuff that the pee drains out the bottom into a tray to dump and the poo supposedly sits on top of the "grass", easy to pick up, just like outside. Honestly, this isn't made up.

I've seen that advertised
We finally down graded to 3 litter boxes for the 5 cats. When we had 6 cats we had 4 litter boxes... Lots of scooping, but none of them can reach the elevator buttons so they won't be going out anytime soon. Ask me why we pay for them to get all their shots...
