WTG MemoryKeeper! That's great! Yes, your body will adjust. I didn't believe it when I first started, but I go to bed feeling very good on DDs, not hungry. You'll get there.

It's so true. I was afraid at first. I haven't told a lot of people, but I just told my BFF today over the phone (we haven't seen each other in about 7 years) and she was interested but skeptical of trying it. I'll keep nudging her gently.

What a good friend to send you here! I think you have to have 25 days/25 posts to have a signature, and 60 days/60 posts to have a ticker. Something like that. Just keep posting and soon you'll have the full works!

I am down 5.4 lb today from my highest weight (was doing a short LC stint prior to starting this, and was off LC 2 days, so I used that weight). Even from my lowest weight during the LC, I am down 2.4 lb so I am totally happy with that. I will keep on! Once again, I feel good today, not "binge-y" which is great. And yesterday I wasn't dreaming of food as much as my DD's before. LOL.

I definitely feel like I have a lot of work still, to figure myself out, and make this work for me long-term, but I feel SO optimistic about it.
This really is an amazing place, and I'm glad you're with us Chica! You're doing great. Control does get easier over time, both on UDs and DDs. Oh, I still have some days of cravings and over-eating, but not many. I guess we have to expect that on any plan. I'm so happy you're feeling so optimistic. You'll do great!

Rose!!! You have to have a minimum of 60 posts, I think. It might be more, or it could be a time frame, but you won't be able to have a signature for a little while yet. You can check your "user control panel" perioically and see if the "signature" selection is available. Someone may come along who knows more.

Hmm. I asked about this a couple of weeks ago and the moderator responded that it is 25 days and/or 25 posts before you can get a signature. I am waiting for this too!

I don't know that there is a proven answer. Certainly EOD at no more than 500 on DD for 2 weeks should do it and can be maintained after with 5:2, but I don't know how well 5:2 would get those sirts flowing. I'm doing 5:2 now, but on at least 3 of my 5 UDs I fast till dinner so that keeps me feeling fully SIRT saturated. If I was eating all day on my 5 UDs I don't know how much juddd magic I would feel. I still have loads of energy and great appetite suppression and definitely the juddd calm.

Like Carly said, I'm not sure there is a definitive answer to this but here is my opinion based on reading, learning, personal experience and some knowledge of the physiology of how the gene is activated.

I think 5:2 would not build up the SIRTs, or, if it does, it would take a very long time. On your first DD, SIRTs are activated and then you "rescue" yourself by eating the next day. There are still a few SIRTs floating around during the subsequent UD, not many but some. Each DD, you re-activate the SIRTs and there is an accumulation of the molecule, a build up - if you will - that then allows for essentially full-time SIRTS after 2 weeks of strict EOD rotations. You then have enough SIRTs built up to have them working full time, and each DD you replenish whatever has been used up the previous UD. For gals like Carly in maintenance, or the 5:2 crowd, they've already done their EODs to get their levels high. Nancy said once, somewhere, that it takes about 2 weeks of being completely OFF rotations for you to "run out" of SIRTs, so with 4 DDs every 2 weeks, the maintainers or 5:2 JUDDDers are still getting their SIRT on.

If 2 weeks is some sort of magic number for induction of SIRTS, that's 7-8 DDs, which would take twice as long to accomplish with a 5:2 system. Maybe if the 5:2 was combined with Fast 5? That might work to activate SIRTs sooner as you're doing a mini-fast each day along with the 2 DDs?

I guess if it were me, I'd tell him to "suck it up" and do the EODs for 2 weeks if he's truly after the health benefits because we KNOW that works!

My clothes are fitting better! Yay! I am only weighing once weekly so no more weigh in's until next weekend. And only after DD I can't handle disappointment right now. Haha.

I tried on some clothes that I had tried on a few days ago, and they fit better. Some looser, some just not as tight lol.

I really think JUDD is for me, the diet to end all diets. FINALLY something I can stick to and it works!

Your post helped me a lot too! Thanks! I've completed one full week, and I'm down 6 pounds! Wowza! Actually 7 pounds, but I can't count this one until next week. I'm doing strict EOD rotations. In fact, I'm going to be on a DD for Mother's day, but I'm already OK with it. I want to get this weight off!

I found a new LOW CARB/LOW CALORIE food: DAIKON RADISH! It's only 19 calories and 2 net carbs for 100grams. It's very potato-like. I pan "fried" it with Adobe seasoning, and had a "hash" with my scrambled egg. Wow, it was super tasty!

Sorry, I haven't checked in or responded but I have been super busy at work!

Carly, your new photo is very pretty.

Jeanette, congratulations on your gigantic loss. Happy to know that my question helped someone else besides me.

lc-chica, clothes are a great way to measure your successes. Keep up the good work.

I am on day 9 and today is my fifth DD. So far, so good

Great job - Jeanette!

lc-chica - Yay, for looser fitting clothes! I had lost 40lbs last year on another plan and I swear I did not feel a real difference in my clothes until after the first 20lbs. Keep it up!

I have two questions, although I am in my 6th week of this WOE (I've lost 9lbs), I still have a few questions.

First question: I am going to have to do my first MD on Friday because we are meeting out of town friends at Disneyland on Sat. which should be a DD. We have reservations for the BBQ and I am not missing that! I plan to do an MD on Friday and then my UP on Sat. As far as the calories for an MD would it work if I just did a high DD say 800 cals or should I eat the average of my UD/DD cals of 1023? I know a lot of you long time JUDDDER's do not like MD's but I don't know any other way to reset my DD to an UD and I don't want to do two UD's in a row.

Second question: I am virtually fasting on my DD's. I don't have much hunger except around bedtime. I drink lots of lemon water. I do have one bullet proof coffee every afternoon because I need a pick me up which is usually about 110 cals, I only use 1tsp each of coconut oil and butter. When I do the calculator I am allowed 341 cals but only getting in the 110 cals. Am I too low on my DD's? I had a gain after my last DD and I am curious if I should eat a bit more. Did any of you fast for your DD's and have success?

Thank you in advance!

Hi Vicki - I saw the answer to your question posted yesterday on another thread. A MD is 60% on the calculator. Hope that helps and I'm sure someone will come along and answer the 2nd question soon. Congratulations on your weight loss so far.

60% works out to the average of your UD/DD calories, so they're the same.

DDs, it doesn't matter if you have zero calories, or eat up to your DD calorie allotment. It's all good. The benefit seems to come from the swing between the two days. If you're comfortable eating lower than your number, that's fantastic.

Have fun at Disney!!

Thank you! That would then be the higher cal count of 1,023.

Thanks, and good things to know... I'm a newbie at this WOE!

DDs, it doesn't matter if you have zero calories, or eat up to your DD calorie allotment. It's all good. The benefit seems to come from the swing between the two days. If you're comfortable eating lower than your number, that's fantastic.

Have fun at Disney!!
Thank you, thank you and thank you! I'm curious though if I do decide to eat more on my DD's sometime in the near future will I slow my losses since my body is used to the much lower cals?

When is your next visit to Disneyland?

I noticed that you did HCG. Congratulations on your losses. I think you'll find JUDDD much easier to follow. I sure do! I lost my first 40lbs with HHCG last year. I ended my last round in Sept. and had maintained however I want to lose 15 - 20 more and I just couldn't bear the thought of another round. I am enjoying JUDDD a lot even if it sometimes is hard to be patient with the losses especially after the HHCG where I would lose something every day.

When is your next visit to Disneyland?

We're meeting friends there in June, but hoping to go maybe sometime next month. We owe the kidlet a trip for her straight As! Then, we're going on a cruise at the end of July (Just a quick 3-day Mexican cruise), and we're planning at least a day or two at Disney and we'll hit some museums down that way since we'll be in LA for the cruise.

I don't think it'll slow your losses, but we're all so different. I have increased my DD calories this last week (from about 250 up to 450) and have continued to lose while trying to maintain.

Sounds fun! You should plan to go to the Sciene Center and see the space shuttle. And I agree, a trip to Disney to celebrate straight A's is in order! Maybe we can try to meet up on one of your DL trips but will probably have to be after this summer. (We have a trip to Colorado in June for a week and then wedding in July in Yosemite for 10 days.) Hopefully if you visit in the fall. Have you ever taken your 'kidlet' at Halloween time? It's always a lot of fun!

Hmmm...but awesome to be losing while trying to maintain...gives you some wiggle room. I'll see how this week goes, I'd like to meet my April goal but not sure I will be able to and then I might experiment with my cals on DD's. Some DD's I would really like to have something more.

If you don't mind the MD go for it. There is nothing wrong with them... they just didn't work for me personally. Like Dawn said there is no reason to feel that you have to eat your full DD amount. Dr. J said a full fast was ideal, but doubted most of us would be willing to do that eod.

I know we're planning on at least going to the Museum of Tolerance. That's been something we've just been waiting for her to be old enough/mature enough to comprehend without being scarred for life. I went to Anne Frank's attic in Amsterdam when I was 10, and it really helped to shape my world view. We've also talked about the Science Center. Sounds like it's great and interactive. We love the Exploratorium in San Francisco. We're such geeks.

We almost went to Disney last Hallowe'en, but thought it would be crazy crowded. Maybe we'll shoot for October this year and we can hang out if you'll be around.

Thanks so much Vicki! You are right, this is so much more pleasant, and my first week's losses rival that of the hCG especially since on my last round I gained 9 pounds during my 2 day load! I definitely have to count on both days. I'm doing JUDDDkins (JUDDD Atkins style), and I'm used to eating many, many calories. That's why I wasn't losing anymore.
