What inspiring stories are coming out of the sad news yesterday.

Great stories about why people had gone into training to attend marathons. People who built their health up against difficult obstacles, lost weight to get healthy for their family's sake. Many who were running/walking to raise funds for worthy causes, or raise awareness of important things, give money to sports programs for overweight kids - so cool.

I'd like to get some Callanetics in today. I watched Michael Moseley's Truth About Exercise last night and really enjoyed it. I've been intrigued by HIT/Tabata for awhile now. Starting today, I'm going to try and get off my butt every hour and move for 2 or 3 minutes each time. It may not be dramatic, but it'll get me moving and can't hurt!

I love exercise! I know its amazing benefits since in the past all I had to do was exercise to maintain my weight. I love fast intense short workouts rather than long ones ..since I tend to get bored easily. I'm going to join in from yesterday.

I walk a very modest distance -- just about a mile each night either before or after dinner with the hubby. However, he's had me doing sprints with him lately. He is a super-fit 160 pound marathoner (grrrrrrrr.....) who maintains his weight effortlessly (grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr rrrrr) -- but *thinks* he's getting fat because he's got a waist size of 33 now, vs. the 31-32 of yesteryear. Anyhoooz.... we both watched Michael Mosley's exercise documentary, and now we're trying short 20 second sprints on our walks. Will let y'all know how it goes!

I'm joining in this kind of late. Just noticed this thread! I have been exercising with Callanetics since April 8th. Once it stops monsooning outside, I hope to add daily 20-30 minute walks to my routine.

So, thus far:
Callanetics completed on: 4/8, 4/10, 4/12, 4/15, 4/16 and 4/17. I am aiming to do another session tonight. I'll keep doing so until my body says enough. Feeling great so far, and I do believe it has made a difference.

Everyone else is doing wonderfully. Keep it up!!

adi will probably smile at me trying to explain T-Tapp. I ought to get her in here to do it! I should say, "just see adi's avatar" lol, although the previous one in the little black dress was the real eye-opener.

Angie, if you did Google it you probably already learned about it.

Anyway...

Teresa Tapp has a series of DVD workouts that build skeletal balance and work all the body's muscles, including the internal muscles nearer the spine, that atrophy first. The idea is to help the body regain its natural "girdle", and cinch in again. So the emphasis is on inch loss, but also the lymphatic system, posture, and increasing metabolic rate. No equipment, no high impact. Days off are considered important.

I think people who know both (I don't, really) consider T-Tapp and Callenetics similar. But in T-Tapp, muscles that are not working at the time are isometrically tensed/tucked tightly in a certain form or posture. So you may be doing a leg exercise at the moment, but your back, arm and hand muscles are holding an exacting form, so they are making you sweat, too.
