WOE: Moderate Carb JUDDD (Lost first 4 lbs on WW)
Start Date: 7/4/2012 -- 42 lbs lost total
38 weeks on JUDDD -- Grumblefrosting

Today I weighed in at 251 lbs for a gain of 2 lbs this week, a total of 39 lbs lost, 35 of them on JUDDD.

Well, I predicted that I would bounce back up and I did. I'm just grumpy because I hoped the 250s were in my rear view mirror. And I'm also grumpy because this coming weekend is going to be a convention during which I'm going to have to go off JUDDD and attempt Fast Five. (I'm predicting next week is going to be filled with angst.)

Low Points

Why can't I plan? Wrestling my up days under control is proving to be not just a problem, but a problem I'm beginning to fear that I cannot defeat. Sometimes my up days go over my calorie count because I'm hungry. Sometimes I do it because I'm not satisfied. Sometimes, I'm too busy to count. Othertimes, I do it because I just don't feel like counting. (Really? What's wrong with me?) But the #1 reason I can't keep them under control is that I can't seem to find the time lately to plan my meals. What that means is that I unleash the hunger beast on up days and end up eating mindlessly whatever is in the fridge in whatever strange combination and quantity. Case in point? I had a lovely--and nutritious breakfast--because I am usually prepared with tasty calorie-friendly breakfast foods. But by lunch, I had not planned out anything good or calorie controlled. The result? I just ate a bowl of pan-fried hash browns with a side of homemade cream cheese frosting on a spoon, because it was the first thing I saw in the fridge. FROSTING...ON A SPOON! I have been a low carb goddess for ten years and now I stand in front of the fridge and eat frosting off a spoon? Who am I becoming?

High Points

New Pants! OMG, so I went shopping with my sister and went down to a pants size (and bra size) that I haven't seen since college. I almost cried happy tears. The bad news is that I'm still shaped like a cake pop, but I'm looking better than I have in years and feeling better too. I admit, it was pretty awesome.

You look like a cake pop? You eat frosting off a spoon? Who among us here, hasn't been there?!!

I think you're doing great, and how wonderful to have slimmer pants (and bras!!).

I keep lower calorie items in the house just-in-case. You know I don't cook, so for me, they have to be convenience items. I use Quest protein bars in a pinch, or low calorie frozen meals. Not gourmet foods by any stretch of the imagination, but they do help when I'm starving and there's no time to make a healthy decision.

Ah Steph.....frosting off a spoon. Yep, I've done that within the last couple of months I must admit. In fact, I'll admit right now that my lunch consisted of about 2 oz peanut butter off a spoon. Then I still felt hungry (in my head) so I had a can of tuna and 3 pickles. Weird combination, no?

Don't be too hard on yourself! Your life is so busy and I know it has some special challenges with events, etc. Planning gets old. It just does. But I fear that if I didn't plan, I'd be right back where I started. You'll get your calm back, and be able to resume your good planning.

I concur with Dawn and LCG-you are doing great! You are down a pants size! College days size at that! Who among us can always plan? Only the ones whom I will never be like! But that's ok, how boring would that be if everything was always planned. That's not a way of life I could roll with forever, and I'm guessing neither could you. Just plan around 85% of the time, you should be good! I am thinking Dawn's advice was good-stock up on low calorie(albeit not gourmet) meals for being in a pinch! I also like fat free yogurt. You can eat a cup of it for the same amount of calories as 2 tablespoons of frosting. BTW-I'm guilty of the home made cream cheese frosting thing too, and also very recently..On Easter I'm making a whole cake with it(well it's actually cool whip, sour cream sugar and coconut). Anyway, you had me laughing again as always!!

Mmmmmmmm.... I want frosting... TOM is here, but I digress...
Yay for the smaller pants and bras! I second having a few low cal options around like 80 calorie yogurts or some cut up veggies and dip. Celery will last 5 days in a bowl in the fridge filled with water. I have even started keeping Special K chips in the house since (knock on wood) I haven't been sleep walking.

I can relate to everything you wrote!! I eat more on UDs for all of those reasons. Sometimes I count and I can see that it helps. Other times I guess at it, fudge it, and generally sabatoge it lol. Today I was actually figuring up how I could eat 3000 calories 3 days a week and nothing 4 days a week and still lose. Frosting from a spoon? I would totally do that and add sprinkles!

Thanks for the update, Steph. Your struggles are all of our struggles.

Well, we can all relate to eating off a spoon - I can eat half a jar of Smucker's Natural peanut butter in less then an hour!

You are doing so great with JUDDD - lots of losses!

Now i want the frosting recipe with cool whip sour cream and coconut! - Pleases

It is so great to read your weekly update!

Best of luck for next week!

Love Ya!

At least you use a spoon, I have been caught with my finger in the icing can! Who can take time to get a spoon from the drawer when the urge strikes? Anyway, if I take 20 extra seconds to get a spoon, someone may come around the corner and see me eating it. You did know that if no one see's you eat it you can't gain weight from it right?

Shepheka!

Congratulations, Steph, on the College size clothes

On JUDDD, at least you/we only binge EOD That's a vast improvement over binging Every Day. I've been using the term 'feeding day' instead of 'up day' - seems to help me not feel as desperate to get the calories in. Also, like the other BUDDD's - trying to eat more low calorie food if/when I eat between meals.

Yes, the scale bounce up is discouraging, no getting around that. I personally don't breath a sigh of relief until 5 pounds below the decade marker.

I think JUDDD is a bit of a mind game - and sometimes we just need a break from it. No shame in that if one needs a break from the extremes. JUDDD is forgiving and patient. EOD rotations can be brutal, have you thought about 4/3 or 5/2 for a change of pace?

You've done so well, Steph - am happy for you that you're getting into smaller clothes! WTG!!

Oh yes, we have all enjoyed our Grumblefrosting moment!

Steph the weekend ahead is just one of the reasons you know you can do this! You have done it before and can do it again.

You know enough about your life, your body and your habits to accept that fast 5 can do what JUDDD straight cannot just now.

And this is why you are making such a success of JUDDD.

You are making it yours. Just like your new smaller clothes

I. our jbs!

I can only add: I'm going through a weird phase (week? Hope so) myself, but like any life change, there will be rough patches. Stay the course (thousand points of light, etc...)

I had a second point but i forgot

Hugs, hang in there, buy frozen dinners like Dawn said.

I love Grumblefrosting -I agree that it sounds like a mythical beast or the name of some small crooked little gnome man that will steal your first born child unless you can weave straw into gold...

When I was pregnant, one night I ate an entire sleeve of Trefoil (? - the shortbread ones) Girl Scout cookies with 3/4 can vanilla cake frosting. Hmmm...

I agree with having some quick snacks ready to go. I know that's one of my biggest downfalls - before JUDDD and even now on UDs I need to watch the high calorie, easy to grab stuff and not go hog wild on it. Just a handful of crackers while I'm making dinner and - BAM - I'm over the limit before I even know it.

Steph, I think you're doing great.

This is exactly how new words get introduced into the English language

Like "what the grumblefrosting was that!" Or "I just got the grumblefrosting scared out of me!"

Somebody bumped into me in the grocery store, and I said, under my breath, "Oh grumblefrosting!" Keira giggled and the lady looked at me like the men in white coats were coming soon to take me away. It was fantastic.
