I'm and this morning-yesterday was supposed to be my one dd of the week (experimenting with 6:1), but it ended up being a 1,500 calorie day. I haven't had a dd since last Friday and I've had a 2lb bounce since Saturday that's been hanging around, at 136-136.5.

Todays weigh in-134lbs, for a 2.5lb whoosh and a new low!!! I have no idea why this happened but I'll take it Today is going to be my 500 calorie dd and I'm planning on doing all eggs with a bit ff ranch (egg salad).

Sara, a wonderful Whoosh, what a great surprise.

I ended up doing Zumba and another class of 45 mins toning.

It is freezing here to day so I came home wanting comfort food. Decided this DD will be a potato day. Eating mashed potatoes with hot sauce as I read here. Nice.

Sara, You got this!

WTH! No happy spring weather today in western Pa. - Snow showers 19° (as of 9:57 AM ET) Feels like 7°
What about global warming...it's more like the ice age around here!!!

No wonder I've been having so many cravings for high carb comfort food.

WOE: Whatever plan keeps me around 150 lbs!
According to the numbers I've been using, I should still be losing and I'm holding steady. I'm eating a lot more than I was with ADF, so I'm pleased (to a point) but confused. I'm not eating back my exercise calories, and looking over my charts, it appears I was losing with 5:2 when I had several extravagant UDs (think Disneyland!). Now I'm toying with eating more to lose more. What a concept! But, I'm worried it'll backfire and I'll gain. I'm happy to maintain, but do NOT want to gain.

BTW, I started 5:2 nearly 2 months ago--January 23--and lost a few pounds in the first few weeks, but have been maintaining beautifully since. I have nothing to complain about. I JUDDD and I 5:2.

I need to get out of my head.

With this WOE, we have so much flexibility that there's no need to drive ourselves crazy anymore!

Also, that's the beauty of having a maintenance weight range, rather than one number. Our female hormones will effect our weight on a regular/irregular basis.

I'm just so grateful that I found this WOE now, prior to getting to the other side of my change of life...menopause. I actually feel more prepared to face it, now that I'm armed with this proactive weight management tool. I can only imagine the out of control, fluctuating weight roller coaster ride on the scale that could have been. Best of all, I'm finally at peace with my weight for the first time in decades!

Plus, you gals are the best virtual buds ever!!!!

You are quite right Ann, I think it will help through menohell.

I am glad that is all behind me.

I shouldn't have done those two classes. I am no good for anything now, just lying around under a blanket.

I really do think there's something about eating higher calories once in a.while, to help the weight loss process!

Cindy, how are those spuds working for you?

Truthfully, I've yet to be the least bit tempted by all the hoopla of a tater only hack.

Passing on the potatoes.

I've done it a couple times and lost decent weight with it, but I doused my potatoes in A-1 sauce-made them taste like steak

I'm pretty sure my IBS would torture me for a week, as payback for any weight loss I might get, if I attempted to eat only taters for even one day.

I've been seeing that there's one gal on JUDDD, sorry I can't remember her id, who's been doing it for more than two weeks for a lose of 5 lbs. so far (I'm pretty sure even Dr. Johnson would object to that, if it weren't for the fact that he's fallen off the face of the earth.)

I used to be able to get away with trying all those imbalanced "mono food fad diets" when I was younger, but not since after 30 yrs. of yo yo dieting, my body finally rebelled and became hypo-thyroid 9 yrs. ago.

Perhaps we should all "maintain" - after seeing 142 as a low for 2 months running, I decided maintenance was fine as long as I stayed under 145. 3 weeks of 6:1 combined with an eating window... voila - 141.2!!

Thanks for sharing! Couple things that stood out to me-dr. Mosley said he now only does one dd, on mondays, and calls this his maintenance plan. Also, he said the dd calories should be a quarter of your normal calories=500. However my maintenance calories are 1,600 for my age/height, so does that mean my dd calories would actually be 400ish and not 500

Most likely 400/1600. That's what I'm doing also!

I really got a chuckle out of Dr. M's reply to James about a paleo diet, and couldn't agree more:

"JAMES:
Dr. Mosley, more interested in the foods that you're describing you're eating during your fast days and the actual caloric intake. From what you've implied, it's very closely adhering to a paleo diet, you know...
MOSLEY:
Yes.
JAMES:
...high in proteins and vegetables and low in refined sugars. I guess first question and second point, why would you not adhere that daily? Is it simply a convenience factor and people getting discouraged with it? And then secondly, I would say -- sorry, go ahead.
MOSLEY:
No, no. I mean, you're right. I mean, in a way a paleo diets mimics how our bodies were forged and there is a lot going for it. I however do not live in a sort of cave, if you like. And so I tried a paleo diet some time ago and I just couldn't tolerate it. I just missed all the other things I like eating. And so I need to go on something which I can sustain over a lifetime. There are plenty of people who've tried paleo and enjoy it. But I think it's probably too extreme for most people. And I was looking for something that most people could do. And I do think that most people can tolerate, you know, a sort of meat and veg diet two days a week. I'm not convinced they can do it for the rest of their life."

I plan to join you for 5:2 in mid April. I've already had a couple weeks that ended up 5:2 rather than 4:3 and I'm still slowly losing. I've lost 2.3 since march 1 so I need to reign in the losses and really maintain.

Hey y'all. Been a while. Planning to join 5/2 on April 1st also. Been experimenting with IF and windows in February and March. Not working out well. More of a maintenance break I guess since I'm essentially in the same place as I started. Maybe down 1 or 2 pounds over two months but that really depends on the day's bounce.

After my only dd of the week yesterday, at 750ish calories due to a rogue granola bar lol, I was down a pound for another new low this morning I'm now at 133lbs, which is right in the middle of my maintenance goal range of 132-135. I wouldn't mind hitting 132, but I really don't want to go below that. I may have to adjust my calorie numbers up a bit, we'll how next week goes.
